I adore these videos! I used to take lessons when I was 12 (until we lost the practice spot, and I thought my dad sold my drums) I started as a way to relieve stress and depression instead of the unhealthy means of self harm that I previously used. ** Self harm free since I was 17 and became a mom :) ** I have been wanting to get back into drumming (I'm 33) but didn't think I could after all this time. The pandemic has been rough mentally and I think I'm going to get a practice pad and see if it's something I can still do. (I recently learned my dad has the drums still in his shed -unsure of the condition-) perhaps I will finally be able to play again, especially with the help of these videos. Loved the fishing analogy too. Happy Valentine's day! Thank you for the fantastic content. Best wishes

Thanks Dorothea for explaining and demonstrating it so well .I was shown once in 1963 by the school's music teacher and then taught how to do 3 rudiments ( Accentuating beat 1 of 4 beats( rudiment ? Flam and 5 Stroke Roll) to accompany a pianist as the school was supposed to !!! march into daily assemblies. I certainly have developed a few bad habits over time and will endeavour to correct them so I can increase my accuracy and speed. I have recently joined Drumeo and am enjoying the challenge of it all. it's all a bit daunting as there are so many options I can choose from. I should however thankyou. As it was through seeing a few of your videos on youtube that I became interested in Drumeo. Being a similar age I relate to your precise instructions. I am 73 and I live in Augusta, Western Australia.

Brilliant instructional video. I'm 54 and been playing since 97' after leaving the army, been a roller coaster for many reasons with mental health etc. Your videos are great for me to concentrate on my hand technique.
I played in bands in quite raw situations, so my hand technique was sacrificed to accommodate my surrounding, but i did always feel i had to correct myself whilst playing and did, to an extent, meaning i felt more comfortable.
I practice on a pad more than drum set these days, because I'd like to reall sort out my hand technique, thanks again. 👍

The drums were my passion as kid and I learned the snare drum in 5th grade then wanted to learn the whole set, went to Berklee Music for a few lessons but then my family moved far away , hence drums ended in 6th grade for good. Came across your videos recently and was so inspired again nothing like the drums. My son now is in a Metal band and plays electric guitar and now has added drums and base to his plate.
