- Machining a test piece to set the Jig Borer boring heads, and grinding the cutting tools with alignment to do it. By indexing the tool to a center mark, it be better determined if the top angle of the tool is correct rather than moving the edge off center. It is most important to be consistent working at 5 times the tolerance of the standard milling machine that is to the right of this Moore#2 Jig Borer.
The machine itself is specifically designed to locate and bore holes. Only light milling can be done such as fly cutting because of the spindle bearing arrangement with a heavy custom bearing preload done by Moore. This heavy bearing preload on two pairs of grade 9 angular contact ball bearings allows boring holes at high accuracy using higher speeds and the use of longer bars.
thank you
You're welcome
Good one Don . Hey , the 6 jaw grinding chuck arrived today . Very happy with it & will probably make up a set true / 5c arbor to use it in the L.A Rocheleau fixture i have . The mic's can be a pain . I have wireless one but it is a pain to use as you do not always know if it is still recording or not . I do plan to give it another try . Cheers . 👍
I don't think Rob ever got that chuck set up to use, he had that attached to another small milling fixture he never used. I remember these small 6 long jaw chucks on drill grinders and they became popular and in most catalogs in the mid 1990s. People were installing and them on cutter grinders probably when Rob picked it up and it went into his time capsule. It was not long after most shops with employees quit grinding tools.
I think I am on the right track with the microphone and I do lose connection with the cables and plugs. I constantly knock the camera around and with, burning bee wax, oil, kerosene and grinding dust with carbide, is hard on cameras.
I love the picture of Fred and Wilma. I am curious why you used the hand grinder first then the tool/cutter grinder. I like the idea of using the drill dot for reference.
I was grinding the steel away from the carbide because the steel wears the diamond wheel a bit faster. Fred and Wilma was from Paul Brown.
The first time today I saw that microphone fur with the bobby pin hanging down, I was wondering why you had a bobby pin in your beard. It’s nice that Moore, in its new corporate structure, is still doing well.
There is bound to be something out of whack using these tiny cameras.
What’s with the safety pin and fur?
The Safety pins are for hanging the fur covered microphone from my shirt, that microphone has a kinky name "Jussie My Poosie" What kind of name is that for a microphone?
