  • Here is an updated video of the HSR Hanford Viaduct that goes over Hwy 198 and the San Joaquin Valley Railroad. The girders over Hwy 198 were placed a few weeks ago. They are still working on the columns for the section over the railroad.
    I have not filmed out here for a few months. I decided not to cut up the the video. I left it all one take with some sections of video sped up. The original video is over 10 minutes long hehe

    This is one of the incredible historic projects such as building the transcontinental railroad, Grand Coulee Dam, The Empire State Building, Hoover Dam and the interstate highways.

    I'm actually glad to see that the Hanford-Kings-Tulare overpass is moving along nicely. They seriously need to have the work crews from CP-4 moved to CP-2-3 and CP-1 so that the infrastructure can be completed faster!

    It will be a miracle if Bakersfield to Fresno ever opens. My wet dream is to get on in San Diego and go surfing in Hanford. But I'll be dead by then if it ever happens.

    Lots of deck progress, looks like two of the four "missing" column lines near the railroad are in, two more need to be build closer flanking the rail line, and the ones with just rebar need to have forms places and poured. A few more months before they're probably going to be able to span the rail line, but other than that progress is coming fast on the areas already spanned.

      Kind of interested there's not excavation for the foundation slabs for the column lines right adjacent to the future track alignment yet, or even fully clearing for them. I wonder what the holdup is there, given the other columns further back are coming along nicely?

      How about Tule River next? I have a fun story about that spot. The company I drive for got picked by CalFire to dispatch, in Tulare County, all that material needed to fix all those levees two winters ago. To get to the Deer Creek/43 bridge, we were using Ave 56 between 99 and 43. One time, we decided to take leave using 43 north towards Corcoran, instead of Ave 56 back to Earlimart. The CalFire guy at Deer Creek, and the Tulare Co Sheriff stopping cars at Ave 120, both said we should be able to make it through in semi trucks. We already had to drive through about 2 feet of water over the road to get there from Ave 56. How bad could it be? Way worse! Right there at that sharp turn at Ave 144, the water had to be at least 4 feet deep on the high side of the turn. On the inside of the turn, there were about 10 abandoned vehicles. Some were in water all the way up to the dome light. I was so scared. I though I messed up bad. Luckily we made it through and I never went that way again. I didn't have the drone yet, back then. I would have gotten some incredible footage :)

      @@jasondroninaround Wow! Glad you made it through, that sounds impressively harrowing. Tule River would be great to see too, they should be working preparations for the deck there that would be fun to see from the air.

    These are great drone shots of a future line. I wonder why the viaduct is so wide in some places for a straight HSR line. Are there plans for a station there? Greetings from Germany!

      This was the last posted video from my DGI Mini 3 (not pro, Costco special). The next flight after this one, I went out to the HSR Tule River Viaduct to shoot an update out there. I recorded a fly around, like this one. When I was done, I though it would be cool to get a still photo just inside/under the viaduct, looking all the way through to the other side. I wasn't going to try to fly all the way through. That's way too much concrete and rebar, and the Mini 3 doesn't really have collision avoidance. I was setting up for the still, just hovering there, and the drone just fell out of the sky. I don't know what happened. Maybe it lost GPS signal and it drifted up to the underside of the viaduct, or maybe if it was a bird attack. Whatever happened, it fell 20-30 feet onto the railroad tracks and ballast below. I had more red boxes on my screen than a 7-11 :) It cracked the camera lens, broke off the gimbal, and one of the arms will not fold in all the way. I didn't think I was recording a video at the moment it happened. I thought I stopped recording before I went in to get the still. After I got home though, I went to upload the video and it was corrupt. I will not play. Maybe I missed clicked or double clicked the record button and the crash corrupted the file. I hoped I could repair the file to see what happened. I tried a few recommended methods to fix the file with no success. Every video after this one is recorded with my replacement DGI Mini 4 Pro. You bet I bought DGI Care Refresh for this new one hehe :)

    I always wondered if there were plans to ever make east/west rail service through Hanford. The plans were further along than I knew about :) tularecog.org/tcag/planning/transit-planning/transit-plans/cross-valley-corridor-plan/cross-valley-corridor-plan/

    • @rwdavidoff
      @rwdavidoff Месяц назад +4

      The plans are pretty advanced, the timetables for starting rail service unfortunately aren't as aggressive as they probably could be if it was more aggressively funded, though re-arranging the bus services to that corridor to tie into the HSR hub is....better than nothing, I suppose.
