I really dig how u put the bottom base of your drill press under the ply wood, thats so smart!! I have a Gazebo workshop, not very big , needa draft and plan to rearrange for more space , getting new tools for xmas

I love this shop, mine is a one car garage too so I love seen for other’s solutions! I will say it should be a drinking game for home many times wood workers have to justify their choices because you know their are so many judge mental wood workers in the comments trying to tell you their way. Great tour Marie i have always liked your workshop from day one, and i have enjoyed all the added on builds, the alterations and the new tools that you have bought for your shop over the years. As for the cold, i have a friend who lives in Ontario and he mentions how cold his shop can be, and he has a wood stove that he lights about an hour before he goes into his shop, and before he does his videos for RUclips so i can imagine the cold that you get there very well. My shop is currently a 12’ x 16’ room off of my garage. This video has really given me some great concepts that I can incorporate for myself & inspired me to be better organized and utilize all the space available. I’m in FL & my saving grace is that my shop space is air conditioned. I have designed & built a simple system to slide a door closed & clamp it into place (gasketed) over the A/C return whenever I’m making dust to reduce the burden on my A/C filters.
So impressive. I, too, have a small workspace and I'm very impressed with how much you've managed to fit in yours while still keeping it functional, orderly and attractive. I love the way you present information, too. Nicely done.
I'm really glad RUclips recommended this video to me. You used all the tricks for working in a small space, and it's really inspiring for another person that works in a one car garage. My dust management at the moment is to occasionally open the big door and blast everything with a leaf blower. It's chaos!
You have no idea how similar my shop is set up to yours! Mine is 20' x 30' and still not enough room! Most of my tools are on wheels, I have pretty much the exact same mitre saw set up (didn't want to run the hose either!). The one advantage I have is assembly and outfeed setup. 2-4 x 8 melamine tables on wheels around my SawStop for outfeed, crosscuts and assembly plus 2- 30 inch x 8 foot tables on wheels for moving, planing and jointing material as well as assembly. I'm full time custom cabinetry and woodworking so I need a lot of assembly space. Kudos on your ingenuity, your space is more efficient than mine is, although I do easily fill 2 garbage cans in a day sometimes so having them roam free in the shop is much more efficient for me. Great vid and great use of space!
Nice layout for a small shop. As you add tools things move around and with each iteration the flow works better every time. I've been rethinking my shop layout for the last month. Thanks for sharing your work space.

Nice job setting things up to work for you. Your mind is always working to figure out ways to make things more efficient or find room more another tool. I built my current shop 3 years ago from the ground up. AC and Heat was a must here in the Midwest. Yes it cost a few more pennies but allows me to go out at anytime and go right to work. I even set aside a spray booth room, something I see missing in many shops on RUclips. You have created a nice shop to have fun creating things. Get yourself a lathe and add another dimension to your skills. Keep having fun and enjoy your shop!
Nice! A spray booth would be awesome if I had a little more room. And a lathe... maybe one day. For now I'm still working on mastering the tools I've already got ;)
It's neater than my garage shop and you can wheel things around better because no fatigue mats.. but your legs must suffer. I put a few mats down and every now and then i roll one up to roll a machine around. Can't live without them though. Nice shop setup and I need to invest in a sawstop like that !
Great shop and great use of space. I had a small shop like this before. We found the PERFECT house for us last year that had an amazing shop already. It's crazy big... like 30x32. It's AMAZING!! But I need to use the space better. I love how organized and well thought out your shop is. The miter station is great. I have a similar set up but just the frame. Love how you did yours. And I think the trash can is great. Enjoying your channel. Looking forward to seeing more.

That's a lovely workshop! You've given me some good ideas, so thank you for sharing. I have the back of a 1½ car garage (the half bit) that's a work in (very slow) progress. So my table saw is a Bosch job site model that I carry out to the carport. :-) It works enough for me in the Canberra (Australia) climate where "cold" just means "work harder" as opposed to dangerous in Canada. Hot, however means "work earlier" until it means "stop work, it'll wait."
A workshop is ALWAYS a work in progress in my opinion! And while working outside is always nice, I'm not sure the neighbors appreciate it as much as I do, so being inside isn't always a bad thing ;)

The mitre saw dust collection cupboard looks very good indeed, I may have to borrow that idea as I’ve tried all sorts of things, none of which has really worked! Wow! Amazing space use and great thoughts on jigs etc. I lived in the Montreal area for 5 years and my poor shop missed me most of the winter. Now I’m back on the west coast but living in a condo and my tools live with my daughter and son-in-law, but at least I have visitation privileges. Great ideas. Messy shops are not safe shops. The chop-saw back-up is ideal. Nothing throws chips and dust like a chop-saw. Again, nice shop and enjoy your woodworking projects.

Great video and one little tip even tho im sure you might have had someone else suggest it already but being in south shore of mtl, i also have cold winter :P my solution to for glue and finish is a cabinet with a heat lamp hooked up to a thermostat that turn the lamp on when it reach 10celcius and stop when its at 15 celcius, keeping the cabinet at a good temp during the night when i lower the heat until the morning
I am so impressed. You should be a consultant!!! I have 28’x55’ and can’t make it work this well... until now.. I’ll use any ideas I can get to compact my shop for ergonomic effect.

Just goes to show a setup like this doesn't happen overnight. It takes time and figuring out what works and what doesn't. A never ending work in progress!
You did a nice job of making use of your limited shop space efficiently. You obviously put a lot of thought into it before starting to build it. I especially like the sliding front panels on your miter saw station...an idea I had not seen before.
I think it's great you are making use of what you have which i have done for years but now am I the process of adding a 750 square foot shop on to my existing garage. However like you, I will make everything mobile
Thanks for the tour. I've just moved into my new house and have a 14'x32.5' shop that I'm trying to figure out how to get my mind around where everything will go. I did have it wired for 220 and my 1st purchase was a Sawstop PCS 36' 3 hp saw. I got it all set up, however I'm waiting on a dust collection system to cut my 1st board. I found your channel from the outfeed table you built, and love the fact that you built it on a saw horse and plywood stand. One of the 1st builds in my shop (this week while I'm off from work) is an outfeed/work bench and your build is exactly what I was thinking of. I'll be buying your plans and you've got a new subscriber.

Nice floor plan and organization. I will be using a two-car garage, but will have to convert both side walls in order to fit the car. Everything on wheels for me as well! I will have to insulate - Minnesota winters are tough.
Great, loved this tour. Very well organised shop and not cluttered at all (except for the woodstore perhaps, but that can't be helped!). Loved that everything is on wheels. I made my router table/cabinet and flip top table from your plans and I'm definitely going to refer to your video for the drill press table. I hadn't thought about connecting another hose to my dust collection using blast gates. Thanks again!!
That is awesome! The 2 hoses on the dust collector with blast gates has made using dust collection for my tools so much easier. I highly recommend this setup for a small shop.
Very nice workshop, I'm glad to see you were able to improve it so nicely over the past couple of years. It takes many years to build a workshop! I've been at it for over 50 years, and still adding tools to it. :)
WOW!!! Great organization.... My shop is 720 square feet and I can't even find an empty space. Granted, along with woodwork I use my plasma cutter, a couple of welders, gas cutting materials, ammunition reloading - storing and working on weapons. :)
Nice shop ,I think there's more small wood shops then giant wood shops ,mine is also tiny but warms up nicely in the winter with my woodstove plus you have to be more creative in small spaces for tool arrangements.Nice job Marie👍
@@DIYMontreal No worries I have my tools connected to a dust collector so there's minimal dust floating around . One thing I miss is my old shop dog (no longer with me )that would lye her fat butt in front of the woodstove and wouldn't move for anything lol Or a cat for cat people 😊

I built an insulated "hotbox" for my mobile workshop trailer using a small heater hooked to an InkBird thermostat. It works great to keep my liquids from freezing in the winter. This could be a solution for your shop. I enjoyed the video.

Hey thanks, some really cool stuff here. So, I'm in CO and had to consider paints glues and finishes freezing as well. What I did (and this is cheap!) was take a small heatmat for plant starts and install it in a tightly sealing cabinet, so that none of my shit freezes. Thermostats can be used here to good effect, so that it doesn't get too hot or run unnecessarily. Anyway, I'm gonna finish watching now. Thanks!
thanks for sharing your work space with us. its kinda small but it confirms, ''where there is the will,there is the way''. it need a lot of efforts to make everything fit in a smaller space....with large work spaces,anyone can easily manage. Brilliantly efficient - my shop is also single-car garage ..... if only we had bigger cars in the UK, it's only about 8 feet x 17 feet - but like you most tools where possible are on wheels (oh and it also has to store my bicycle workbench and tool-board and 3 bicycles hanging up too) - I have the same air scrubber, and a home-made dust extraction system with pipes running around the wall and about 6 blast-gates. Compact is the word!
Lol how do you fit a car in there?! 😂 This just goes to show it's all relative... People with giant shops wouldn't know how to make it work like we people with more modest spaces 😉
I saw this mitre station video and liked the simplicity of not having the side guides that would take up the counter top space. Then, I watched a gentleman from England explain why you might NOT want those side wings/guides. If an eight foot long piece of stock were even slightly warped, the side guide would keep it from being flush on the saw table where it must be in order to get a proper cut. Not having those side guides permits the longer, possibly slightly curved piece to be cut using the in-top stop as you’ve used here. I didn’t want to lose the counter top functionality and your system solves that. Even with removable wings, your system is more functional and equally as accurate. Great job. I also thought a tape track could be routed out just in front of the track and inset. As you have it, it’s very useful.
Wow Marie, you have done a lot in the space you have. I have watched most of your vids and I think everything flows together pretty good. I have 16'x20' and am very cluttered but I do the best I can with what I've got. You've done very well.
Beautiful shop! Mine is a single, uninsulated, detached garage too, so I know all about those cold winters and scorching summers lol Spring and fall are my favorite seasons to work.
Wonderful video! Made my "Save" list. I just moved and have a 3 car garage (2+1 bays) and have the third bay for my workshop, where I plan to do woodworking, welding/metal work, and even some fly-tying for the summer. I've been trying to design the layout and your workshop shows how to make great use out of a limited space. I'm so glad I ran across your video!

Just goes to show a setup like this doesn't happen overnight. It takes time and figuring out what works and what doesn't. A never ending work in progress!
You did a nice job of making use of your limited shop space efficiently. You obviously put a lot of thought into it before starting to build it. I especially like the sliding front panels on your miter saw station...an idea I had not seen before.
I think it's great you are making use of what you have which i have done for years but now am I the process of adding a 750 square foot shop on to my existing garage. However like you, I will make everything mobile
Thanks for the tour. I've just moved into my new house and have a 14'x32.5' shop that I'm trying to figure out how to get my mind around where everything will go. I did have it wired for 220 and my 1st purchase was a Sawstop PCS 36' 3 hp saw. I got it all set up, however I'm waiting on a dust collection system to cut my 1st board. I found your channel from the outfeed table you built, and love the fact that you built it on a saw horse and plywood stand. One of the 1st builds in my shop (this week while I'm off from work) is an outfeed/work bench and your build is exactly what I was thinking of. I'll be buying your plans and you've got a new subscriber.

Nice floor plan and organization. I will be using a two-car garage, but will have to convert both side walls in order to fit the car. Everything on wheels for me as well! I will have to insulate - Minnesota winters are tough.
Great, loved this tour. Very well organised shop and not cluttered at all (except for the woodstore perhaps, but that can't be helped!). Loved that everything is on wheels. Great idea with the extending support for the mitre saw. I've watched 100's of shop tours and I've never seen that before. Thanks for sharing , you've given me some ideas :)

I made my router table/cabinet and flip top table from your plans and I'm definitely going to refer to your video for the drill press table. I hadn't thought about connecting another hose to my dust collection using blast gates. Thanks again!!
That is awesome! The 2 hoses on the dust collector with blast gates has made using dust collection for my tools so much easier. I highly recommend this setup for a small shop.
Very nice workshop, I'm glad to see you were able to improve it so nicely over the past couple of years. It takes many years to build a workshop! I've been at it for over 50 years, and still adding tools to it. :)
I like your woodshop. My favorite part is the miter saw station. I don't have a space for a woodshop but I am working on it. Thanks for sharing.
WOW!!! Great organization.... My shop is 720 square feet and I can't even find an empty space. Granted, along with woodwork I use my plasma cutter, a couple of welders, gas cutting materials, ammunition reloading - storing and working on weapons. :)
Great shop which reflects years of work on your part. I have a 16x20 shop and you have given me some great ideas. You still need more clamps :)

Nice shop ,I think there's more small wood shops then giant wood shops ,mine is also tiny but warms up nicely in the winter with my woodstove plus you have to be more creative in small spaces for tool arrangements.Nice job Marie👍

One thing I miss is my old shop dog (no longer with me )that would lye her fat butt in front of the woodstove and wouldn't move for anything lol

I built an insulated "hotbox" for my mobile workshop trailer using a small heater hooked to an InkBird thermostat. It works great to keep my liquids from freezing in the winter. This could be a solution for your shop.

Hey thanks, some really cool stuff here. So, I'm in CO and had to consider paints glues and finishes freezing as well. What I did (and this is cheap!) was take a small heatmat for plant starts and install it in a tightly sealing cabinet, so that none of my shit freezes. Thermostats can be used here to good effect, so that it doesn't get too hot or run unnecessarily.

thanks for sharing your work space with us. its kinda small but it confirms, ''where there is the will,there is the way''. it need a lot of efforts to make everything fit in a smaller space....with large work spaces,anyone can easily manage. Very nice, I also have a small shop like this, I suggest adding a mini split with a heat pump for AC and heat
Brilliantly efficient - my shop is also single-car garage ..... if only we had bigger cars in the UK, it's only about 8 feet x 17 feet - but like you most tools where possible are on wheels (oh and it also has to store my bicycle workbench and tool-board and 3 bicycles hanging up too) - I have the same air scrubber, and a home-made dust extraction system with pipes running around the wall and about 6 blast-gates. Compact is the word!
Lol how do you fit a car in there?! 😂 This just goes to show it's all relative... People with giant shops wouldn't know how to make it work like we people with more modest spaces 😉

I saw this mitre station video and liked the simplicity of not having the side guides that would take up the counter top space. Then, I watched a gentleman from England explain why you might NOT want those side wings/guides. If an eight foot long piece of stock were even slightly warped, the side guide would keep it from being flush on the saw table where it must be in order to get a proper cut. Not having those side guides permits the longer, possibly slightly curved piece to be cut using the in-top stop as you’ve used here. I didn’t want to lose the counter top functionality and your system solves that. Even with removable wings, your system is more functional and equally as accurate. Great job. I also thought a tape track could be routed out just in front of the track and inset. As you have it, it’s very useful.
Wow Marie, you have done a lot in the space you have. I have watched most of your vids and I think everything flows together pretty good. I have 16'x20' and am very cluttered but I do the best I can with what I've got. You've done very well.

Wonderful video! Made my "Save" list. I just moved and have a 3 car garage (2+1 bays) and have the third bay for my workshop, where I plan to do woodworking, welding/metal work, and even some fly-tying for the summer. I've been trying to design the layout and your workshop shows how to make great use out of a limited space. I'm so glad I ran across your video!
This is the ideal layout that I would look into as a source of reference..as my newly constructed woodshop measured 14x27 👍👍
