    Many thanks for your comments! Yes, this is a new drawing technique. There is no need to fix the paint, a portrait of after the end can be rolled into a roll for transportation, or insert into the frame under glass. The paint is not greasy and does not crumble. I used to draw portraits with soft pastels,oil paints, acrylics even...but never dry brush. It's so amazing, I'm inspired. Now I've started practicing dry brush. and your videos are a very good guidance, thanks.

    Most dry brushing is done with oil paint (sometimes mixed with a solvent), from what I've read. It's dry because you put a VERY tiny amount on the brush. As for what kind of brush they're using and the size, I'm not sure.

    Hi, I tried using your technique but I dont know if I misunderstood, the brush doesnt seem to leave any marks behind, I use a drop of solvent and gently touch the brush to a little paint, when you do it it looks like there is a lot of paint in the brush

    BIG QUESTION ANYBODY: I do graphite portraits and sometimes a day or two later after I think my drawing is finished, I'll suddenly see a mistake that needs fixing and that is easy to do with graphite. Question: In dry brushing .... after the paint is dry, can I still erase and/or darken an area that needs it. Thanks for any help.

  • @PortraitDrawing
    @PortraitDrawing 12 лет назад

    @xDeaDxLegacY thank you
    a brush is $1, a tube of paint $2, watercolor paper 20-50 cents, eraser 20 cents. Can be expensive, only work of artist:)

    For those who are interested. The technique of a dry brush first appeared in Moscow on the Arbat by Chinese students in 1984. Unfortunately, the English Wikipedia is silent about this.

    I'm very impressed by your work! This technique of dry brush with oils is not taught at regular art classes, so I have a question. After the portrait is done, do you use some fixating spray or something to protect the paint?

    Hello, what kind of paper do you use so that you can use that definition for your portraits, what kind of graphite do you use to make it look like that? please I need help since my drawings are with gray hair and not with that definition which you apply to your portraits ... since thank you very much for answering my question and very good video ... !!!

    Your work is beautiful. I love the look of your portrait and wish to try myself. Does it have to be watercolour paper for this technique with the oil paint? and do you thin the paint with anything?

    Great video!!! What kind of of paper and oil paint brand did you use? i tried dry painting with oil paint for the first time, and it did not turn out as good as I envisioned. I think it is because my oil paint is too thick, or maybe the paper I used was not the right kind of material.
