OMG I love Madeira, have visited about 8 times, when I know we're going to land I keep my eyes shut! I have to say the pilot's are so skilled. Thanks for sharing. x
Imagine I did that landing 50 years ago. When I left the plane only a few meters further there was the ocean. I said OMG and we have to go back too! Shortly after that only Portugese small airplanes went to Madeira untill they had a longer landing lane. On top of that no one told us that there were no beaches(now there are) so we spent 3 weeks near the swimming pool besides some trips over the island, before having a stunning departure to Holland. Never again! And it was rainy all the time...
Oh wow! You even came in on Runway 23...that's unusual. I'll bet the cutie pie with the camera would have liked to do that final turn onto 05 instead!!! Am I right?? ;) Nice video. Love to watch the plane action in Madeira. ♥ And it looks like a very beautiful place to visit.
@@1Miguellima WOW! 4 years later...I see your reply. Sorry bout that. Yes, Madeira looks like a beautiful place to visit. But that WIND!!!!! I love watching the planes land there but I sure wouldn't want to BE ON ONE!! lol
Yes, the approach is straight in and the wind is much more predictable. Landing on 05 requires much more manoeuvring, which you have to do in amongst the turbulent air generated by the topography.
Very nice!!! Love the mug shot at 1000 feet!! :D I have watched countless hours of plane spotting at Funchal and I believe this is the first time I have seen a cockpit view landing on *that* side of the runway!!! (23) (Unless I'm confused and that's always a big possibility!!! )lol Thanks so much for the upload!! Looks like it was pretty CALM that day from most of the other videos I've viewed!!! ARRRGGGG they look scary! Cheers~
Good luck. In the meantime stick to your studies. With respect, being a pilot is about attention to detail. I’m not sure BA run a “fight school”. That said no one’s perfect, just consider it’s better not to tell fibs. More, go out and fulfil you dreams but in a stable way.
The worst camera man or woman I have seen in these kinds of shootings. The person kept moving the camera in all directions. Extremely bad. Thimbs down!

Great island
Coward! I looked through the window and was up to grab the volcano! Unfortunately my arm were too short and the window did not want to open...
ILS instrument landing system!
Absolutely stunning stuff.👍👍 Always wondered what the flight deck saw.👀
Funchal is such an amazing approach - nice vid - I am putting together one myself, can I sample this with a full link back to this vid/channel? Cheers
Stunning capture! May I feature a part of this video in one of my next uploads? Of course with a link to your original video. Cheers!
off course you can, please let me know when you upload your video.
Experienced a flight to Madeira 10 years ago - very exciting landing;also a beautiful place to spend a holiday☺
We landed that way last time we went there, great views!
Amazing landing on rwy 23 -- nice on the sim and nice in real life.
Very calm for Funchal. I have operated into there a few times but always landed on 05.
Landing at Madeira is a piece of cake!
Very cool. What is that he’s saying at the end: sounded like: recon recon recon What is that ?

LOL I had to watch the video again...it's been so long.
And I just now saw his comment. Oops. o_O

I will be soon be flying to Madeira as a British Airways Pilot after finishing fight school.
Congratulations 💐 well done you
No you won't, not with English like that. Also, British Airways don't hire pilots straight out of flight school.
@@harryhill91 My brother you never know God's plan may be I will fly you there Mr Harry.
@@anneallen7771 Thank you so muchmay God bless you.
Try my friend. Don’t panic but... let me know when you will be flying to Madeira as a BA pilot “just fresh after fight school”.
my guidances flew in there a few times before the runway lengthenings were done.
It's much easier now with extention
That was way better than the Ryanair landing I just watched.
Why would you stop the video right when you touch down??? ... The rest of the landing is interesting too...
Im totally agree
This is my island. I mean, where I was born and I live 🏝️😎
Very good
Sadly battery run out at that point,so upsetting

So lucky to still get the touch down !
Nice video!
I alive from Madeira Island, the best Island
I’ve flown into Madeira dozens of times and it’s never an enjoyable event especially if it’s windy.
Well, good luck, then! Pretty windy overthere……
It looks easier landing in that direction than the other way?
altermetax Yes, I know.

Remember stopping in Madeira on a cruise seeing the runway said I'd never fly into Madeira lol!

auto-thrust is off??? in an airbus plane????? pilot's don't usually do that
Change the title and description. They're wrong. It's: "Airbus A319", not: "Airbus 320".
That's an easy one, straight-in approach
Just watched this again. The runway looks mighty short compared to other runways.
2782 meters in length
@@1Miguellima What I thought. Quite a lot shorter than either of the runways at Heathrow.
Offcourse, can't be compared to Heathrow
@@1Miguellima I wonder how many planes get close to the end, especially in wet weather.

Ominously there's a graveyard at the end of the runway.
c trop bien l'avion
Normally they do not land on this runway. is not common
It’s been extended and now any plane can land on it!
WOW.
Why does the voice say "retard, retard ..." It was just after they touched down. (Sorry, I'm not very imaginative)
✌❤
Moving to and fro, repeatedly showing all instruments, is not necessary. We know that they are there….
WO IST UNGE JUNGE
It's like in Jurassic Park xd

Seltene Windrichtung. Normal landet man von der anderen Seite.

BA does not train air crew. It teaches them company procedures, which is a very different thing.
The worst camera man or woman I have seen in these kinds of shootings. The person kept moving the camera in all directions. Extremely bad. Thimbs down!
Terrible filming, moving around all the time, who cares about the copilot's hair ?
Worse cockpit view ever.
This is a Airbus A319! CS-TTQ
