I love your videos but you guys need to really slow down!!! 40 years ago I was a disillusioned kid from the US that left on a whim to find greener pastures in NZ. I found them in Christ Church.I was fortunate enough to find a company that would hire me and give me working papers which at that time was unheard of because of the economic situation in the country at the time . At the time Christ Church the garden city; with the river Avon running thru it was the most idylic place on the planet. Then in 2011 Christ Church laid in ruins because of a major earth quake. Many historical land marks laid in ruins, many lives were lost.they all have a story which should not be forgotten Add depth and content to your work..slow down and smell the roses!
The reason why the food from the bakeries and restaurants in NZ taste so fresh and good is because they don't use GMOs, only use grass fed beef and free range eggs that came from the local farms. That's how real healthy food is supposed to be.
As a baker here in NZ Pies are Kiwi's favorite past time snack food and there are some amazing bakeries around NZ I am glad you enjoyed your stay here in Aotearoa (NZ), please come back soon and as We say here in NZ "Ka kite Ano" which means "Goodbye for now" have a safe trip to Japan. Also my favorite pie is Steak & Mushroom.
Any type of pie is good from vegetarian to non vegetarian is good
Here in Rotorua we have a roast pork and mushroom pie 🤤
Chicken and Cranberry is one you need to try.
paua pies are yum too
You forgot the tomato sauce!
New Zealand have pies everywhere, and being from the Uk we know a good pie when we see one - it is true they have some of the best :)
i had a pie in the uk a few times and yuk!
Wait till they try the Aussie ones.. very average.
皇廷水晶宮 yep the Aussie pies are very average
As a kiwi you made me smile. Good on you mate! 😆 Kiwi pies are choice as 👍
Agree with ya aussie pie average had to bye nz pie while in aussie
Ex Kiwi truck driver top tips, for your everyday cheap pie Jimmy's does for me,when eating a pie always hold it upside down as the top crust is harder than the base and stops the gravy ending up in your lap. I love pies😍
asterix 64 haha that’s some veteran level advice there.
On the strength of the pies alone, I now want to visit New Zealand. Proper love you guys and your endless enthusiasm for life and everything it has to offer. Greetings from the Isle of the Dead (England!)
I take it you live in Cornwall ? :)
I could just taste the steak and cheese pie. When I was a child living in Australia a real school lunch treat was a hot meat pie.We ordered them from the Tuck shop in the morning and they were hot, fresh, and in a brown paper bag ready for us at noon. Wonderful!
I don’t know about the old days.
But Australian pies today are mostly garbage.
NZ is amazing in its diversity! One of my favorite countries in the world!
We have the best fish n chips too
No we don't! Most of them are bloody dreadful.
@@davidaitchison1455 there are definitely some better than others... if you see a Mr Chip sign you're usually good to go
@@owainharris I think the secret is the freshness of the fish and using beef fat (dripping) which is now out of fashion in Aus and NZ.
@@owainharris We pay overseas prices though it is our country's product, used to sell frozen products for Watties, as soon as orange roughy went up overseas it went off the local market which did not impress restaurants with printed menus.
@@davidaitchison1455Where do you live? Somewhere inland?
All of your NZ videos have us missing home so much. The BEST pies in NZ can be found in a little place called Fairlie (Fairlie Bakehouse), it's half way between Geraldine and Tekapo. I kid you not, the pies there are to die for. Anyone reading this doing an NZ road trip should definitely not miss this, it's a must!!
Yep Yep Yep....Fairlie pies are orgasmic !!!
Salmon and bacon pie, amazing
Fairlie pies are incredible but like a 40 minute wait if its summer- cause of the lines waiting for pies.
Pork belly and apple sauce with crackling on the top out side with cracked pepper,
Silverside, cauliflower and cheese sauce pies from the Dough puncher 🤤🤤🤤 to die for..
Watching you guys made me think of You Tube clip with NZ police adviising blow on the pie. It's a very funny clip. You scared me biting straight in like that.
In 3 o'clock in the morning, your buying a pie at a BP station, what must you always do?
@@jamieleepescini2675 that pie is thermonuclear
Me too! Break the crust and let the steam out, then blow on the filling!
wasn't there an add years ago about blowing on pies
"Always blow on the pie"
Wow that steak n cheese pie looked soooo delicious!! Kiwis have the best pies...and now Im off to get one for breky at BP gas station 😉
May I accompany you?
You guys are the best. Congrats on the 200k subscribers!!!!
Thank you for visiting and showing off our corner of paradise in the world. Happy travels
The apricot pie sold me. I absolutely ADORE fruit pies!
Loved traveling with yall in New Zealand. One of my favorite arm chair journeys for sure. Those pies....amazing.
200K subscribers! Dance party! You guys totally deserve it. Let's go for 500K next!
This is cracking me up!! I am a New Zealander but haven't lived in NZ for over 10 years!!! Love it enjoy your travels. xx
You kill my diet every time you do a food vlog and I love it! Spending the afternoon cleaning out the freezer and baking pies. I finally went out and got 1-2 serving pie psns. Making 6 dinner pies and three desert pies. Even found some low cal recipes! If I can get the time zone right I hope to catch up with you tomorrow. Congratulations on the numbers, "guys". The higher you get, the faster you grow. Keep up the quality and stay yourselves and real and you will pass this million subs mark sooner rather than later.
I've really enjoyed NZ with you guys. Good luck in Japan x
Pies all look good, but steak and cheese definitely looked the best: really stuffed with filling. Often the pies we get in UK are only half filled and not much meat. Didn't realize savory pies weren't really a thing in the US: remember having pot pies there, but I guess they don't have pastry all round. It's been a great series in NZ; look forward to seeing your adventures in Japan!
pot pies have crust all around. but they're usually not hand pies. and typically just chicken with mixed veggies.
OMG, we loved Christchurch! We have friends there and are so impressed with the way the city has come back from the earthquake. They're really done some cool renovations with the rebuild. One of our friends is a country music singer, and we made many new friends on the Christchurch music scene!
The pies from that first bakery looked phenomenal! What a cool video. Thank you for sharing!
First time subscriber (as recommended by my aunt & uncle!) Fab video! 😍Look forward to binge-watching the rest of your NZ travels. X
That coffee scene in slow mo with choice music was sublime!!
Number 1 rule when eating a pie... ALWAYS BLOW ON THE PIE!!
Safer communities together.
Yes, I almost burned my gums off in Cornwall while eating a pasty!
Yeah! Steak and cheese is really the best pie in new zealand! 😋😆
Oh boy, I love pies!! The first one that Eric was having looked a bit gooey/messy to me, though I'm sure it was good. But that apricot pie just made me drool, yummy! :)))
Also, congrats on 200K subscribers! You guys rock, very much looking forward to the Japanese food next :)
Absolutely LOVE your channel. Such a humble couple. Started watching when you came to the UK. Can't wait to follow your journey x
That steak and cheese looked amazing
Yay for coming to Australia!! Sooo much to see here. Lots of yummy pies to. We also have something called a savory slice which is a local to my area delicacy
Hope you’re coming to WA in Australia, happy to take you around and show you the best we have to offer including some awesome pies, wine, beaches and fish & chips!
Yoû were drinking Lemon & Paeroa (pronounced Pie roa) made in the Waikato town of Paeroa.
i really enjoy your travel videos, shocked to watch what "way more" couple posted of the time they spent with you in New Zealand, I love how natural your videos are, no acting and no drama keep on going and good luck in Japan!!!!
I love these videos! I cannot wait to see you experience Japan. I have a lot of health issues and it's such a blessing and lift of my spirits when I watch your adventures! Thank you for being so kind as to share them with us! Safe Travels!😊💖
Loved all the New Zealand videos.
I loooove mince and cheese pies!! From a great bakery they are amazing, even cheap gas station brands such as Big Bens in NZ have mince and DOUBLE cheese 🤤
Paeroa (pierower) is actually a small town in the north island, gorgeous little place filled with amazing food shops and antique type stores. Well worth a stop in.
Wow Amazing and Congrats got 200k Subs. You Guys Deserve It. Also this Video Great. Seems delicious Food.
I’m from New Zealand, loved this video
I'm so glad you enjoy our beautiful country. Xoxo x love your attempts on the moari pronouncements ☺
bourbon girl , crap spelling for a kiwi, Maori, thought you might know that, our country ,,hmmmm.
@@banjopete being nasty is not who we are. Thought we were one nation standing together . Auto correct must of changed it and I didn't notice. Don't be a troll. It's not becoming of you. Have a nice day
Oh the first meat pie Eric bit into, OMG that looked delicious. I can eat that for breakfast lunch and dinner LOL
Definitely bakery pies over shop/market pies especially lamb and mint pies 😊😊 it’s a must nxt time you guys are in NZ
Lamb and mint is the bomb and a demon damnnn haha
New Zealand of course got their pie culture from the UK, as its largely populated by the descendants of mid 19th century UK immigrants. I was there 2 months ago, as my son has emigrated there. However, whereas we do have round shaped meat pies in the UK, for hand held eating we largely favour pasties, which are flatter shaped, so they are easier to eat without a knife and fork and fit in the mouth without cutting easier. We have small round shaped meat pies too, but generally they are much larger, the size of a dinner plate, and made to feed a whole family. Unfortunately I found pasties to be a rarity in New Zealand. Another thing that amazed me was that it was surprisingly difficult to find pork sausages there, beef apparently being the preferred filling. I guess they just don't farm pigs as much. If they did, they could make Melton Mowbrey pork and pickle pies, which are small and round and one of my favourites.
Those Kiwi's certainly give us Limey's (or do they call us Poms ) a run for our money as far as pies go.
Yeh we call u guys poms 😉
It's actually an Australian term & refers to the place in England from which people were "transported" to the then penal colony of New South Wales.
Poms mostly lol
Yous definitely beat us in the fish and chips department
@@lotstolearn5350 pome.. Prisoner of mother England.
Really, Really enjoyed your trip to Zealand. So far, one of the best countries you've visited. The people seemed friendly, the countryside was so beautiful. The food looked so good. And the pies, well I'll be googling to see if they can be made by mere mortal Americans. I used to travel a lot but now age and physical challenges have kept me home. You have both brought laughter and joy to me and my family. Thank-you!
we also heard NZ got the best pies in the world! i guess that's true from your video :) helmi will definitely won't share the apricot pie haha
Great trip kids.. loved the kayaking and the mountain karts the most and the cheese & steak pie would be my choice🥧👍
I just saw the date of upload. As much as I love people enjoying our beautiful country I'm really glad you left when you did. Had you stayed another month your experience in NZ could have been completely deflated by the events that took place mid march 2019. On that note, R.I.P to all those that lost their lives :(
I spy coffee is near where I live - great place, and amazing service
Can you do a video of your top 5 countries you have been to? And why?
So here's the funny thing. I actually live in Christchurch, have done all my life. I've never been to either of those bakeries or eaten their pies AND I've never even heard of the place you guys went for coffee. So, some sightseeing around my own town required.lol. Next time you are in Christchurch - free meal/hospitality and will cook you the best lamb you'll ever have. Great video - awesome concept do a pie review around a town, this has given me some ideas for when we visit San Sebastian in Spain next year for a Tapas extravaganza. Travel Well. Mark and Melissa.
i've never seen someone so excited with a pie! Great to see such enthusiasm. Mark from Bournemouth
You missed out on Fairlie Pies, from the Fairlie bakery ... in fact, I bet you drove past them at some point. ... what I cannot get over is you left it to the last day to discover Pies in NZ... Ko te pai rawa, he haerenga haumaru kei hea koe i te ao. I have enjoyed your videos ...
If you are going to Japan, a meet up with Kyde and Eric would have been interesting as are their travel videos.
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing your adventures.
빵 좋아하는데, 맛있겟어요,
굿~🥰❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍
I'm happy that you like our pies. The best and main flavour is mince and cheese.
The apricot pie looks like a sweet short crust pastry to me.!!!
I feel so inspired when I watch your videos, thank you for letting us be part of your life!
You guys should link the names/ locations of the restaurants you visit in the description.
I'm a KIWI but my wife is American. When we first went back home to NZ from the States , she of course had not had a kiwi meat pie.
Well that changed. From the first day there she would eat at least 2 pies per sitting. So her nickname became Ninny two pies. God i could eat a kiwi pie right now. It's been 7 years since my last one.
Omg those pies !
The filling !
Man I’ve never seen a pie so filled !
And I live in uk
Cornish pasties pukka pies
Etc
Very generous !
X
💗
The early Cornish miners brought Cornish pasties to South Australia 🇦🇺... they are found everywhere and still very popular at bakeries!
Omg Im a kiwi who lived in the UK and I missed the Cornish Pasties sooo much
Born and raised in auckland nz 42years old n almost every bakery has pork veg pasties👍
@@watdahlolzman7826 Not the same bro
Yay! Going back to Japan for the food...great idea! The Steak and cheese pie looked amazing there. Now I want pie.
Watching you have L&P reminded me to tell you guys to try the Aussie soft drink when you're here. It's called Lemon lime and bitters. It's absolutely refreshing.
Kiwi here,my favourite drinks are, Bundaberg lemon lime and bitter,as well as,Lipton ice team, peach flavour, had both when holidaying on the Goldie, came home, found both here, haven't stopped drinking them,as we say,Tumeke,,or awesome
Keep the pie kick going when you get to Oz and try "Pie Floaters". Check with the locals for the best ones. Adelaide is the hot spot for these but I don't know where you are going.
I just love the way she says "oh my gosh" haha
We’re looking at NZ for next hols. These vids have been real perfect thanks
From Australia to you: you don't ever eat pies with forks 😉 always get messy and use hands x
Two best pies i've had in New Zealand were in picton. And they were a Butter Chicken Pie and a Chicken and Camembert pie. Sooo good! Going to try and make one myself soon cause i'm craving pies so much and we don't have them at home.
You all seemed to like the summertime weather in New Zealand 🌊🌏🌞 Nice video with fun food to celebrate all hard work. Congratulations 🐎
I want that sweet pie. And I want to come with you to Japan. I hope I'll make it to there this year. So I'm very much looking forward to watch those vlogs.
The first worker how you said New Zealanders were so nice We pretty much say that every time someone from another country comes!!!😂😜 🇳🇿🇳🇿
I had one of those chilli cheese pies on the way home from the pub last night lol. Steak and cheese is usually my go to..
Wow didn't really know they have one of the best pies in the world. The one your eating looks really good. Time for some pie time.
i’m a new zealander and i’ve never even heard of the super pie hahaha
There's a bakery in Palmerston North that does the best Stockman pies - peppery mince at the bottom, then a whole egg is cracked into it, then a big ring of tomato, then cheese and the lid to finish. Sublime.
... and you were mean't to take the tin foil tray off the apricot pie.
Awwww so sad you're leaving NZ 😢 could have watched a hundred more vlogs on that awesome country. BTW I would go with the apricot pie, sounds lush. Safe trip to Japan.
best pie in new zealand is the mexican vegan pie from the Z gas station... im not even vegan but oh my god its so so good
Erin Laureen ,you’re vegan.
What a fun video! Cracked me up. You HAVE to have a steak n cheese pie from Sixes and Sevens in Wellington (they sell them at the Sunday Te Papa market, too), and go to The Burleigh in Blenheim. Best pies!
Yep - we **do** have some excellent pies!
Excellent **coffee** too, especially in Wellington!
My sister has traveled in Italy and the rest of Europe and she said that the coffee there **sucked** compared to that in New Zealand!
a beef mince and cheese pie and a powerade is my favourite classic nz hangover cure
I was just catching up with the last 2 videos, glad to see another one 🥰
A pie tour! What a great idea.
Steak and mushrooms amazing,
Curry chicken pie is THE best. Mmmm now I’m homesick and hungry
Graduated highschool (college) there and I miss the mince (meat, and meat and cheese) and bacon and egg pies SO MUCH! Trying to recreate them has failed many times. :(
My favorite Kiwi - American Video yet
Eric and Alison, you guys make me hungry every time !!!!! but I forgive you both.
As a Kiwi, I’m so disappointed they didn’t give you Tomato sauce to go with your beef pies! My heart breaks for you 😂
WOW those pies 🥰 you were in heaven 🙂
The Anglo habit of meat pies is alive and well, I love desert pies key lime pie is my favorite followed closely by pecan pie. When it comes to meat the cheese steak is top shelf! Love to you both from Tennessee
The endless --adventure-- pies
Mmmmmm pies
Piey goodness
Oh this made me proud, and a bit homesick. :(
My favourite pie every time is a Mince and Cheese. A good mince and cheese pie has a layer of melting cheese at the top.
Used to live in Chch and Aorangi bakery was the main smoko spot 👌 glad you enjoyed chch
You guys work so hard and I love your videos !
No doubt you guys will be in 1 millions subs soon !!!
PIE. MADNESS.
Oh my gosh i cant wait to try pies in Christchurch! You guys have inspired us to create our own youtube channel!! We cant wait to share our own New Zealand adventure!

Muzza's Pies in Auckland are the best.Recommend the Steak/Kidney and Steak/Oyster.But they have so many varieties, all excellent.
