  • In this video I take you through the dreaded blend door foam repair on 1997-2004 Porsche Boxster 986 and Porsche 911 996. This method gives you access to both blend doors. It's not as bad as I thought and you will see exactly how to do it should you decide to give it a try. Big thanks to Kurt for sacrificing his hand to get every bit of foam off of the blend doors. Kurt did the repair on this one, I was simply flashlight guy : )

    Why silicone or glue the plugs I have have a lip around them they snap into place

      @Boxster986Fan  Месяц назад

      They do have a lip but they are a few millimeters smaller than the blend door holes to be able snap into place. They are technically made for VW cars so I assume it’s just a slightly smaller blend door hole in the VW blend doors. Also good to glue them in since the air is flowing from the backside which could pop them out vs flowing in the direction that would push against the front side of the plugs effectively keeping them in. We just wanted to make sure we weren’t having to worry about any of them popping out.

    To avoid the wrist and arm cuts perhaps use some fingerless gloves.

      I bought a few types to make sure I had the right ones. For some reason they are all labeled as VW plugs but they are the correct ones. I've never been able to fins any labeled for Porsche.
      Here is one that I used that fit the best:

      Here is the other one I bought in case you want to see which fits best for you: www.amazon.com/PIT66-1998-2012-Beetle-Mk4-Transporters/dp/B0D1QLMVZG/ref=sr_1_2?crid=37057EBYQ7PGU&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.e15O3Vkapcnvos7LDMlFWwt5Y0lRfjm06X65X47hKvg.bnTGkLSDw1oQP6Ox-sax1mXatc9t3V1fAD-fqGALaEA&dib_tag=se&keywords=PIT66%2BBlend%2BDoor%2BFoam%2BFix&qid=1714190482&sprefix=pit66%2Bblend%2Bdoor%2Bfoam%2Bfix%2Caps%2C134&sr=8-2&th=1

      Oh gosh. I don’t know. For 996.1 it is but I’m not sure for the 996.2

      Yes, I did this same job on my channel on two 996.2's. Identical.

      And you also decided to go through the heater core and remove the right door also I believe, yeah?

      @@Boxster986Fan Correct. I removed the door completely and cleaned the old foam off.
