I admire them for not releasing early. I shared a bottle of Summer 2006 with a friend. Liked it so much I bought another bottle, which I’m saving for future enjoyment. Pricey, yes. But I found that it has a malty effervescence that I haven’t encountered elsewhere. So, on paper, not worth it. But it resonated with my soul, so yes. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. 😊
Thanks for the honest review. I always appreciate your take on a whiskey because I know you won’t let hype interfere with your experience. This case of FOMO is cured. Thanks for the $200 saved.
I like Daftmill's style of waiting for proper 10 years to release but yeah I agree that it is too much money for a 10 year old, no matter how craft it is. Anyway, there are plenty of great whiskies out there. Cheers for an honest review!
Hi Erik, did you ever try the first two U.S releases? I have both the 2007 winter release and 2006 summer release, both are great and very similar but I prefer the winter release. For me the 2009 release you just reviewed was a pass.

From what I have heard the 2006 is better than the 2009.

I agree. I find it to be a $80-ish whisky at best

Love those two. And really disliked the 2009. Bitter Sherry ruined it.
Letting this poor release make the market is enough for me to avoid this company selling $200 young Scotch.
@@WhiskyMystery Daftmill ruined it by actually using that cask in the blend.
@@steveno7058 Agreed
I won’t pay $200 for a 10 year non cask strength. Simple reason is it will give other producers an excuse and reason to jack up prices.
Yes, educational purposes is why I drink whisky as well. 😂
The Sherry barrel ruined this whisky compared to the ex bourbon only.
Just another reason to pass on Daftmill. Allowing such a poor cask in a $200 bottle is terrible quality control
@@steveno7058 But the Bourbon barrels are a delight
