You all look gorgeous. I adore the avenir and am just making my 3rd. I stitch the neck and waist elastic in place at 6 equal points which works well to stop it twisting 😊❤

They all look fabulous. I love this pattern too- made my first one last summer and want to make a shorter playsuit version for summer this year. I like Rachel’s idea about the thicker elastic for the waistband- I think that would work well. Fab video as always

Love this jumpsuit, I used 1/2” elastic on the top, had to make a slightly larger casing, but it’s definitely more stable. I also added 1” to the top to make it more billowy & added belt loops at the waist. Love all your versions, think I need another one now in viscose!

Beautiful all 3!!! They all look so comfy! A couple of perpendicular stitches through the elastic at the center front, back and shoulders stops the rolling but you can still stretch it to get out of it.

I love all 3 of your Avenir jumpsuits. I think it looks great in a bold print. I made one in a hold print viscose too and I love it. I also have the problem of the elastic flipping in its channel. I sewed it down at the 4 raglan seams and that has helped. I always feel like I need to straighten it out every time I pull it down and back up.

I wonder if a round elastic would work, though maybe more difficult to secure. Even with a narrower channel I quite often find, that the fabric still wants to turn.
Very much inspired to follow in your footsteps!

I guess the sleeves are raglan so it is harder to make it off shoulder perhaps? Also because the pattern was originally for a stretcher fabric the elastic is lost in translation. Maybe the elastic can be anchored at points like mid front neckline and mid back with say a stitch to prevent the elastic turning. As sometimes you do not need maximum stretch at every point perhaps? They all look great though.

I'm not svelte as you are-but I have a 19" difference from waist to hip-and a 11" from bust to hip-i hope mine will look as fabulous as yours!! :+) I will definitely make out of some of my viscose!

Thanks so much for this vlog, great information, and you all look amazing! I'm not sure the style would suit me, but I'm much more likely to consider making it now than I was before I watched this. Now, let's talk pockets. I HATE teardrop pockets!!! I really dislike the way they distort the shape of a garment if you use them - and what is the point of pockets if you don't use them? I ALWAYS want my pockets to be anchored at the waistband. My FAVOURITE pocket is the one on the Luna Pants from Made by Rae, and I also like the way the pocket is anchored into the waistband on the Zadie. I use the Luna pocket all the time on the Montana Dress from Style Arc so that I can use them, and have used them on other garments. It looks like the Luna pocket would work on this jumpsuit but, if not, it would be possible to straighten off the top to anchor to the waistband/seam, and widen the pocket bag to make it more user friendly and useful. Thanks again x

I love the Avenir! I have made 2 X long, 1 x short and then I have made 1 x short dress. I have also made 2 knit dress versions!!!
I haven't noticed about the elastic but I never follow the elastic guidelines and just look and what I need once the casing is sewn so guessing I must be using a wider elastic!
    Love your versions! X

All three jumpsuits look gorgeous on you lovely ladies. This is a jumpsuit I'm tempted to make as it seems so comfy and easy - even to go to the loo in! Personally, I'd probably skip the pockets, as I don't use pockets and I think they'd irritate me. I have some viscose twill from the Fabric Godmother and I wonder if that would work.

Love this style on all of you, it’s great for different body proportions which is not ever the case for me (I can make a fab pattern look dead frumpy). I know Rachel you said you didn’t need to up the size on the bottoms, but with the lovely swishiness (?) of your fabric I think you’ve upped style wise, it looks quite chic. Ruan I’m more your shape and was delighted to see how absolutely gorgeous it is on you. Thanks ladies, love your channel, it feels like I’m catching up with old friends. I’m in Australia but my daughter in law was a Yorkshire lass, and although she doesn’t know it yet, she’s taking me over to meet up with you girls (albeit in the far distant future) one of these days. Cheers Heidi 🌹❤️

I'm glad you 3 did the Avenir. I have been wanting to make it up, but so far, other things took precedence. I got so many tips from you all, especially the neckline elastic. I am tall, like both Rachel and Ruan, and virtually the same measurements as Ruan, including the longer legs and shorter body in comparison. And I have "big hands" like Rachel. Lol. So It was all very helpful. And I loved seeing how it looked on all three of you, as well as the length differences, so I know what length I want to make mine. So thank you all.❤

Well ladies I think I am sold and I have the perfect fabric in my stash. I have never really liked a jumpsuit. I remember the 80's ones and it definitely didn't suit me. This one looks fab and the fact that they are secret pjs and so easy to get on and off. The pocket shape made me chuckle! You all look fabulous, as always. Just an observation re the neck casing/elastic issue. I've watched the FPC You Tube sew-along with the Avenir made in denim and it looks as though the 1/2" elastic fills the casing; indeed someone asks in the comments on the video is the casing seam allowance 5/8" as she had difficulty getting the elastic threaded in the casing. The video does not give any seam measurements. I would think the casing is meant to be 5/8" and the elastic 1/2" so that it should sit flat and not roll.
