I was there! I'm in the group picture on the back cover. This is wild. Thirty-nine years ago -- and the music is every bit as good as I remember it.
I don't dance. Never. I put Zydeco on. I dance it grabs your soul make you do great fun stuff!
😢😢🔥🔥🔥, LAWD!! ON MERCEE!! I teach meself🔥🔥.
Love that band
Miss you Clifton and Peter.
Superb music. I used to sell this album into retailers in 1972. Sometimes a struggle over here in England. The best job I ever had.
He is THE King of Zydeco for a reason!
The washboard solo sounds like someone aggressively brushing their teeth and I love it.
Sam Fennell, my wife and I saw Chubby Carrier & the Zydeco Swamp Band at the Tab Benoit voice of the wetlands Festival last fall. They had four, I repeat, count em, four washboard players in that band! And many of the band members were equally proficient on two or three instruments as well as on vocals. It was very cool, and a great Festival overall.
Clifton is the King, but his son can really play too. RIP Clifton..
Zydeco pleases my soul.
Nice music, i discovered this about cajun, Zydeco, is interesting, Greetings from Argentina
Wow A black creole dude singin in french cajun in english america, that's pretty hardcore lol Great music!
This is the best live Zydeco recording ever made! It's totally laid back, but high energy at the same time - "Going to Baton Rouge this evening - Where the Crawfish got soul."
MolotovMan: you were truly blessed to be at this show!
i lived in new iberia, and this music live is very good. thanks
@1blastman Thanks for this & since i read your post i had an old blues tune running thru my head for hours & couldn't name it. Finally the grey matter clicked. Feelin' Good - Little Junior's Blue Flames in 1953 on Sun 187 - "...last night ...I heard papa & mama talkin, Papa told mama & mama told papa bout something she heard, we're gonna boogie till the break of day..." Now found your tune by Clifton & it's got a great laid back beat.
Love New Orleans, visited there twice, plan to go back and check out some more music, hopefully play with some of the locals!
Another station you might like that's right here at home is CKUA, I especially like the jazz show on Saturday afternoon followed by the blues show. They have the occasional ad, but they are not a commercial radio station.
Thank you for posting this. I saw Clifton & his group in a Bay Area Church and sure remember the event fondly.
dam i THOUGHT it was JB just visiting.... I'm gonna sock it to ya
one of the BEST dance GROOVES on the planet
The whole album is supernaturally great.
I love this song
Ah!! I woke up today- and had to listen to Zydeco!! Thanks to Miss Ali- and dance ma chere!! Then you end up with Trombone Shorty- going WOW!! How Great is this?! I heard someone describe Zydeco as cajun music put in a blender
Au scecour! Bon Ton Roulet
Love Zydeco ))))
Wonderful
Cool! Hi from Russia!
Many of the country Cajuns outside of Lafayette still do. The University of Louisiana Lafayette has a very strong French Cajun culture major and Cajun French is still taught in many homes. It was suppressed for awhile but now is being embraced.
Thanks for info on WWOZ - 90.7FM. Found it & now live on my pc - Sunday prog' guide: 8.30am Gospel. 10am Old Country & Bluegrass. 12 noon Cajun & Zydeco. 2pm Acoustic Blues. 6pm Swing session. 8pm Spirits of Congo Square. Now that's what i call a radio station - and a Community Station so not smothered with ads trying to sell something you don't need or want. Yeeha!.
@Rowland108 No, I was the Northern area (Lancashire, Cheshire and Yorkshire) Sales Rep for Transatlantic Records. We sold imports from Blues Classic, Arhoolie, Blue Goose and Old Timey as well as our own label. I have some fabulous old vinyl including Zydeco. Let the good times roll!
The Creole King!
Maitre incontestable du rythme.
Cool stuff :)
I'll be back in a few years. I can't live anywhere else now that I've tasted the good life.
Back yet?
But I love the music, it's on fire! We listen to WWOZ Cajun hour every Sunday morning!
That`s almighty, dudes!
Have mercy...
Big brain + music math and lightning fingers = Clifton Chenier.
@1blastman Sounds a fun day out! Both LynchburgSourDough & Westtoledguy have incredible 78 collections & have uploaded Feelin' Good on youtube. Pat Hare plays the great distortion guitar on it.
"Joséphine c'est pas m'enfant" 😂😂😂Merci!
Pas ma femme I think? As opposed to child (enfant) ?
Smokin'
tighten up!
Ohio currently. I hope to move there before I become to old to enjoy myself.
go daddy go
Buy a WWOZ Brass Pass for Jazzfest and come down and hang out by the Fai-Do-Do Stage. 'OZ is the best radio station on "Da Planet"!
@Rowland108 Ok, now you've got me record hunting in the French Quarter :o). If you can post it on youtube I'd love to hear it.
...Hey Buster, whay are they doing? well I tells ya mr jimmy...
...Deys Jus Havin Deys Funs...Das All...Oh I See...Lets Go...
@TheEbird67 Hi. At last I've done upload of Tu Le Ton Son Ton. Thanks for the suggestion
BOING!
I visited Louisianan twice and feel it calling me everyday! I just love it too - where are you? I am in Arizona!
How annoying to play some old Zydeco music and get an unsolicited ad for a Greenday song instead!
Ah Jeah!!!!!!!!!!
Did you ever see him play with Sonny Landreth on guitar?
and he is playing the german Hohner accordeon
Nat Fletcher, there is a sad but sweet little movie entitled Schultz gets the Blues about a retired German miner who plays accordion, and one day here's some Louisiana music on his shortwave radio, and makes a pilgrimage to the place where that music was born.
@MolotovMan
That's why we make music. : )
@Rowland108 How about "Momma Told Papa"?
Ima soccer yo ya
@g1itv Did you work for Flyright of Bexhill on Sea? 'cause I used to buy my stock of US imports from them.
@1stSaintsFan Wish I could. I believe all the good living would kill me though.
@Trollioli ...LOL....You only live once...we enjoy life.. we eat well, drink better and party like the world is going to end tomorrow....
Do Cajuns still use French as their first language?
@2:50
❤️ ❤️ ❤️
@MondoBeno creole innit
whats the joke in the begininning? francoparlantes help me out
To me ( not 100% sure) its " Josephine c'est pas ma faute", so " Josephine, it's not my fault". It's the tittle of the song ( ?). But you know, when a man says that to his old lady, who doesn't laugh! Killer song btw.
@@BlueLou974 it was the pronunciation lol they said it wrong
@@miurtouissi1093 In fact, they don't speak french, but french creole. As I am used to french creole ( Reunion Island), I'm ready to everything!
@@BlueLou974 i too speak french and i am used to french creole (haiti) loI I thought it was the pronunciation but okay 😂
@@miurtouissi1093 Well!!! ou koné, kreol la Renyon i semb enn pé kom kreol La Louiziann et kom kreol Haïti, enn pé , mi koné pa tro, enn moun la di a mwin. Ou koné, ou?Kreol zantyie fransé pa parey. Oté mou'noi, sa enn surprise, i maye mon koko.
Ohio? I thought you couldn't use four letter words on youtube. Ohio is the Fugowee Indian word for "Hell"
Remember "A rainy day at Jazzfest is better than a great day at work!"
Please take this down - it plays too fast - I can hear it in Clifton's voice!
Mark Santiago EXACTLY I SO AGREE
I once again request that this video/audio recording is taken down because it was put up by someone whose record player was playing the record too fast! I am after all the person who recorded and produced this live performance in Richmond. CA and it was on my Arhoolie label that the selection was originally issued. I feel this posting does only injustice to this great Creole musician and singer who has generously left us with his marvelous music and singing - but who has no control over what some people have done to his art by not truly and correctly reproducing it.
Sir.Mister. commander. Chief Mr. President Obama please tell me why this country only acknowledge bad not good for blacks. Sir you are a great man representing law that is suppose to reward good but you only punish bad or law breakers. Sir is it safe to say you know when a law is not right. Why do our judges allow black men to be punish by laws they can't avoid even when they are law abiding citizens.
+Curtis Batiste so true

Probably on purpose. Try changing speed to .75
