Been welding using GSMAW for most of my welding over the years. I kind of miss all the smoke & mess of stick welding, I’m now curious to see if it all comes back to me after all these years. 1987 Graduate of Ivy Tech NW IN Weld School here.
    Thanks for the video 😎👍

i went to tws in tulsa back in 94. i wanted to be a pipe welder when i got out. i took don apples advice and got out of oklahoma as soon as i graduated. i got a job welding pipe and quickly found out that you get stuck on shut downs in chemical plants almost all the time. when your not your at the shop getting ready for the next one. the iron workers were behind one time and i got sent out to help. structual was a dirty word at school and i was reluctant at first, until i got to feel the rush you get hanging steel with a real iron worker. we started getting a bunch of schools and military jobs that paid prevailing wage and i never looked back. we worked 4 10 hr days and had fri, sat, sun off while the guys welding pipe were working 7 12s. we didnt have to work on top of each other because no other trades want to be anywhere near us and our checks were around the same amount sometimes more. there is also the fame. when your a connector your at the top of the food chain. its like being the star of the movie. something for you guys to think about

I wanna know why my 6010 always want to go out. I know my amps are high enough, I believe. I’ve tried shorter and longer arcs. Once it gets going it stays going somewhat.

It might not be you …. There are a lot of welding machines that don’t run 6010 worth a hill of beans … even some welding machines that claim to run 6010 don’t …. Try a friends welder and see if its you or not

2nd you could try to run 6010 with reverse polarity from what your using now … I just found some company on line where they claim that their rods run on DCEN - only, instead of the standard DCEP +

I'll never understand putting so much effort into showing the WRONG way to do things. Negative learning I suppose. But I say if we -don't learn the wrong things, then they aren't in our heads. In my head is precious space, I don't need extra ideas (wrong ways) bouncing around in there. Just the proper ones.

This method of thinking seems flawed to me. I like to learn what bad looks like and what cause it so if I encounter it, I know why, and can find a solution quickly. Time=money

@@masonmedina7539 There's nothing wrong with doing it right by understanding the RIGHT ways to do something. If the end result is suitable and efficient, why do I need to learn "wrongs". I'm wired positive. I might find 3 wrong ways to do it, doesn't mean that I need to memorize a dozen. Also it limits discovery on new ways to do-the result is the object. If your way works, work it. Doesn't mean it's the best way to teach it. But the mentality of things is changing. I get that. Carry on.
