THIS is art in its most expressive and thoughtful form! I was reading other posts and saw the word “astonishing”. I’m a woman of words. Yes, that’s the right word for this piece. Astonishing. I don’t do hand work because of my painful hands and like many people, I guess, we are most impressed by what we ourselves understand but cannot do. Beautiful.

Found your channel last night, and binge watched. (My condolences for the cat. ) This video is my favorite. Love the texture! Was initially resistant to the raw edges, but I think I get it now. Can't wait to try.

I love your "collage" method! A friend told me about your unusual basting method (do you remove that when your piece is done?) and I stopped by and now I'm sitting with my own stitching, watching and listening to you, enjoying very much my time spent here. I'm a bit curious about the piece you are working on here. It looks like you made a collage and placed it in the middle of something larger then backed that. Will you continue to add collaging work to this or is this your intention to leave this as the focal point? I ask because the white stitched circles have me very curious as to their placement and I don't see any evidence of them on the back so you must have done them into the single top cloth? Sorry to be so long winded and ask so many questions, but my brain was going... You have inspired me! Thank you for sharing!

I work up a cloth in layers, adding new elements and decorative stitches to the layers as I go. So often times a new layer is added which covers up the back some of the decorative stitching already added. I do not usually remove the invisible baste, it adds durability to the cloth. Once in a while I might but it depends on the way it goes.

Where do you get cloth i love all the different types, the cloth looks weathered, old. Do you use alot of denim?

I use old cloth. Recycled from a lifetime. Denim is too thick.

I am new to your videos and I am enjoying them tremendously. I have been fascinated by Boro and Sashiko and recently came across Kantha. What thread are you using for the quilting.
