er..they did not!...only time Metallica headlined over us was 2014 in Sao Paulo Brazil...we headlined every one of the "kill em all for one" shows mate....
Hey i was there at least, to many shows to remember, you came off the stage during a song and i patted you on the back and played some air bass with you next to me, i do remember that, i am glad i was wrong so you could personally message me.
This is one of those bands that if you give them a chance they really grow on you. When I first heard Stay Hard I wasn't sure about it. The album really grew on me the more I listened to it.
Great old school metal from England. Love em! Despite all the naysayers on here, Raven influenced alot of bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Death, Slayer, Celtic Frost, Exodus, Anthrax, Testament, Bathory etc.
In the american Thrash Metal scene of the 80's ALL thrash metal bands give credits to NWOBHM. ALL. Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Exodus, Overkill, Testament, Nuclear Assault, etc... American power metal scene in the 80's, ditto. American death metal scene in the 80's, ditto. American Prog Metal scene in the 80s, ditto. Bands of all those scenes always cited NWOBHM as their main influence.
fuck yeah bad ass track from one of the best new wave of british heavy metal bands raven. man them vocals could break glass with the scream. killer live performance too. #nwobhmforever
*If people listened to twats like that, Metal wouldnt of even existed in the first place, they would of believed* *that you can learn & make music only by going to university, yeah right.*
I saw RAVEN last weekend in santiago, chile.was awesome.gallagher brothers & thomas heller kick ass.chile, ecuador, argentina and brazil the south american dates.the next year RAVEN will return to chile🇬🇧😼
@jimsgasgas i think it´s roundabout the very early 80´s. I saw Raven at first 1983 in Moers/Germany with this show. Raven was the most underrated Band at this time, i think. They ´re a very great Heavy Rock Band. The Show was brilliant
The true forefathers of contemporary power metal, and THEN some! On their first album they promised to Rock Until You Drop, and it's been 34 years later and they've kept that promise just fine! Check the new album out, "ExtermiNation" and find out just how strong these guys are still going!
@rabidgerry Thank you. I couldn't have said it better. @darrin conner Raven were so ahead of their time by light years. Do some music research. You desperately need it. Raven has been over the top for close to 40 years. Non stop touring and releasing album after album. I suppose you don't like Motörhead either since Lemmy has a unique voice as well. Crawl back under your rock and rethink your uneducated musical statements.
@jimsgasgas This should be mid to late 1982, the photos on the back of the Wiped Out album were culled from the BBC vid. I first saw them a year later, on a tour called Kill Em All For One. Raven had some up and coming band open for them, went by the name of Metallica as I recall...
none of these other bands mentioned were anywhere close to as fast as Raven were. 5 guys were trying to play keep up with 3. Still to this day this band is simple brilliant. Fuck Metallica! They should have at least repaid Raven over the years to tour with them, Raven showed them the ropes and Metallica never did shit for them. Lars acts like such a uber fan how come he's not bringing bands out to play shows without them as a thank you for the inspiration and helping us.
They could never even get into Canada. Had tickets to see them on two occasions: once with Tank and the other wth WASP and Slayer. Raven bailed out of both, for whatever reason.
The early 80's were an awsome time for Heavy Metal. Classic bands like Raven, Mercyful Fate, Tygers Of Pan Tang, Witchfinder General, Ozzy with Randy Rhoades... Man, those days will never come back. The music that passes for "metal" these days is unbelievably crappy and uninspired compared to vintage gems like this. If I see another RUclips pee-wee making references to unoriginal copycats like Zakk Wylde, then I think I'm gonna hurl. NWOBHM was and is the best metal era of all-time.
I think I got off on the wrong foot when I first heard them. "Stay Hard" was not a good starting point, as the album seemed really commercial, and that wasn't where my head was at the time. Their older stuff is a lot more edgy and aggressive.
I SAW METALLICA OPEN FOR RAVEN IN 1983, THOSE WERE THE DAY'S.
er..they did not!...only time Metallica headlined over us was 2014 in Sao Paulo Brazil...we headlined every one of the "kill em all for one" shows mate....
and the Roseland show in 1984....
Hey i was there at least, to many shows to remember, you came off the stage during a song and i patted you on the back and played some air bass with you next to me, i do remember that, i am glad i was wrong so you could personally message me.
Kill em all for one baby
See you tomorrow night in Tulsa, John!
This is one of those bands that if you give them a chance they really grow on you. When I first heard Stay Hard I wasn't sure about it. The album really grew on me the more I listened to it.
Those were the days !!
Love that his bass has a whammy bar. So fricken' sick! :) \M/
In 1986 Raven was my favorite band! Still does! im 49 now!
an obscure hard rock band like Raven of the BBC? No Way ! (Mind you, if Napalm Death can appear on kids' TV then it ain't so surprising !)
How could just one guitarist be so loud? Feels like the sound of five guitarists going at once.
reminds me of - goodbye cream /"I'm so glad"🎸.
Mark is so TERRIBLY underrated it pisses me off...one of the best of the NWOBHM era along with Sykes,Campbell,Collens
They sound exactly the same live, even in a smaller club. Loud, full and rich. I'm not sure how they do it.
Priest, Maiden, Raven, Saxon, Motorhead., True metal in its definition..thanks for this
Great old school metal from England. Love em! Despite all the naysayers on here, Raven influenced alot of bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Death, Slayer, Celtic Frost, Exodus, Anthrax, Testament, Bathory etc.
Probably the greatest live band I ever saw and I've seen hundreds.
😂😂😂😂😂
They play so precisely at live shows. Despite this video is being pretty old they still sound neat. John Gallagher is a very underrated vocalist.
maaan you can hear the 70's out of the 80's. This is amazing.
I've seen Raven live 2-3 times and have met John, Mark & Joe..Awesome music and band
Love Mark's guitar chops and tone. Awesome guitarist. Nice dude too.
Contrabaixo vermelho formato de guitarra Gibson Explorer. Lindo.E ainda tem alavanca!

My god, this is awesome! Before I die, I WILL see Raven live. Rock until you DROP!
Thanks for this great performance! They sure are the pioneers of metal. Kind of punky also. But great musician with great attitude.
Saw (Neil Turbin era) Anthrax and Metallica open for Raven. All 3 bands were EQUALLY great that night.
They are from my area of the north of England. Saw them in 83 and I'm sure I permanently lost some hearing because it. Well worth it too
WILD performance! This is HM!
@Tessmage and i proudly lived those years as i was born in 1966...saw Raven live in 1982 twice...good times that will never come back :(
Just saw these guys live tonight and damn... what a badass performance!

OPEN YOUR EYES WIDE!! (to all assholes who say "strats style guitars and single coil can't do metal"..)
*If people listened to twats like that, Metal wouldnt of even existed in the first place, they would of believed*
*that you can learn & make music only by going to university, yeah right.*
When I was a teenager and first listened to Raven , I thought that they were Canadians because the drummer was wearing a hockey goalie mask.
Awesome
this is awesome! Ravenlunatics!

Believe it! I saw this with my own eyes tonight after a gig they played in Toronto haha, fully functional too, not just for show :)

These guys could kick ass when they had to. Nobody's heroes was a good example of that 🎸👍
@ vimanasguitar69 Raven...British Metal from Newcastle.....
The Gallagher bros and Rob Hunter had some killer metal chops, way underrated.
I was at that show in NY we went in Vinny D's van Raven was the best metal right in ur fn face!!!
The true forefathers of contemporary power metal, and THEN some! On their first album they promised to Rock Until You Drop, and it's been 34 years later and they've kept that promise just fine! Check the new album out, "ExtermiNation" and find out just how strong these guys are still going!

just watching john gallagher makes my fingers hurt.
yeeeeeeeeeeeah! You're so fuckin' right!
Darrin: it is not thrash, it's only Rock n Roll, and I like it!!!
If they got 50 bucks from every eventual rock star they inspired, it would likely equal more money than they actually made.
i cant find there music any where
Gallghers rock!!!
Brilliant band, original one
3 persons make noise like 5
I've got kahlers on two of my basses because of john.
@MetalliDethSlayThrax
he used to do those screams both exhaling and inhaling! I used to be able to do them, not anymore!!LOL!!
i would be honoured to contribute this footage as i have it on dvd!
what dvd?
i saw anthrax and wild dogs open for em in 83
do you have entire show?
What kind of guitar amps are those?
Wacko on Drums. funny how they made mistake's, but still kicked ass.
ワッコはこのままで良かった…変人にならなくても…
Vimansguitar69-yeah, somehow, I always thought they were from Canada too
They could never even get into Canada. Had tickets to see them on two occasions: once with Tank and the other wth WASP and Slayer. Raven bailed out of both, for whatever reason.
What year is this

Too right mate 👍
NWOBHM And OSDM are the best of metal for me
wa-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-aaa-a-aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Anyone know what those amps are?
Carlsbro.... killer UK solid state amps!
I think I got off on the wrong foot when I first heard them. "Stay Hard" was not a good starting point, as the album seemed really commercial, and that wasn't where my head was at the time. Their older stuff is a lot more edgy and aggressive.
