Don’t forget the quarterly safety bonus also - that adds another 2 cents per mile if you qualify. It all adds up. Good video and welcome to Crete.

I hope this move is everything you want and more. I really hope everything goes well!

When I started trucking, I couldn't understand why companies like to choose the fuelstops. As soon as I started my lease operator career path, I understood. I like to use the same tactics to battle the fuel expenses. Now, I plan myself when, where, and how much to fuel, ha ha.
They already figured out how to save fuel. I use to divide the total miles I drive by 8 to determine how much fuel I need. My miles per gallon are usually between 8 and 10. Between El Paso and Dallas my miles per gallon climb until 15 mpg. I was able to drive from Mesquite, TX, to Pendleton, IN, and then to Corbin, KY (1216 miles) without refueling.
Hey…just saw your other comment. Sounds like you have a lot of experience already as a lease operator. Are you coming to Crete as company driver or owner/operator?
@@TheJoyofTrucking I would start as a company to learn how they do things. I like their lease program, but I'd begin as a company. I have been with one mega carrier for 5 consecutive years and 6 years altogether. My mother is from Schleswig-Holstein (Nordsee/Büsum)

Hey Kevin any information as if you go on vacation more than 2 weeks or repairs take awhile do you lose your assigned truck. ,hope all goes well for you two.
If you are broken down and repairs are going to take a while waiting on a part they give you the choice to get a different truck, get a loaner or to wait it out. They want you to keep making good money. Vacation over 10 days they may ask you to clean out the truck and get another when you return. But they normally won’t do that in my experience.
Not sure. But Rambling Bill seems to know a lot about Crete. So check his answer below. Makes sense. We did hear through the grapevine that if they offer you a loaner truck and you turn it down that they might not pay you breakdown pay. But...it's just a rumor. Don't know from personal experience yet. At Werner Kevin asked for two weeks off and a change of terminal and they made him take a leave of absence and turn in his truck.
Lol…watch Sundays video. Though today Kevin heard rumors they do take rookies. Which recruiter said is not the case. Hmmmm? I’d say call but I think they don’t take total rookies. Cool you both want to drive!!! Let us know where you end up!! Good luck!!
The 1200 guarantee is gone....Also what they dont tell you in orientation is although you get benefits after 30 days they start taking out the deductions immediately. I signed up for myself, then added my spouse a couple weeks later. Thats caused a massive $250 a week catch up deduction 3 weeks in a row right at Christmas time. That hurt.

We hope our Werner videos help you with the steep learning curve of starting out in trucking. And yes, our Crete videos will definitely give a good insight into what to expect at Crete and can help you see if it's a good fit for you or not. Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
In 6 weeks from now you will have a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT attitude about these guys! Get a 1099 gig, save your money and get your own truck / MC & DOT # - you’ll make more in 2 months than you you’ll average annually
@@dubghost1829 there’s quite a few - A & W Transport out of Illinois runs Dryvan only ( they used to be a Car Carrier years ago ) they’ll keep you running cross country and in the Winter time you can simply tell them “ I’m only running the I-10 East to West and the I-5 North to South from January to April - plenty of freight out West and you don’t take those “unplanned snow days vacation” on the side of the road on I-80 in Wyoming while they clear up the wrecks” the rest of the year you can run the mid-west and make BANK! Remember, as a 1099 driver you are NOT an employee so you cannot be Forced dispatched so you decide what lanes you run, also remember you will NOT be paid any deadhead miles HOWEVER 99% of the time you’ll either pickup at the same place for your next load OR have very little deadhead! If I was ever going to go back to NOT owning my Rig, I’d be a 1099 driver- everything you spend is a write off, don’t forget you will need an LLC and an EIN Number for taxes
Great job Kevin. I like the fact that you're open with everything. Crete sounds like a good choice. I'm looking forward to the next video.. Truck Safe.
good luck with the new company. hope they stick to there word about 3,000 miles a week, cause they can tell you that and sometimes it never pan's out. a lot of these trucking companys will say anything to get you inn the door, i found out first hand cause it happen to me more than once.
Yes. Always taking a chance. And so many things effect it. Sorry you had bad experiences!! So far Kevin is averaging 3000 miles per week. We are very happy!!! 50% more income than with Werner so far. 👍🤩😁
Sounds like you fell into a very nice situation. The truck you drive is far better equipped than when I drove. First time I stepped up into my Freightliner FL60 condo I thought I had really made it LOL. Trucks now have fridges, microwaves, and inverters the Volvos have a table that converts to a bed.......it's like......holy crap. Of course, no cell phones were around then or GPS devices. I'd be feeling like a king or something driving OTR nowadays. Oh, the shirt looks DY-NO-MITE!!! | Have a good one, and stay safe out there.
I see you didn't get a Pete or KW. Casacdia lol. Just like my truck. Seats. Fridge. Microwave compartment.......only problem is the fridge. Keep an eye on it. These Casacdia fridges they take long to cool. Even if u have it at the highest setting. Lol I wouldn't put ice cream in there. Lol. Have fun
Hi Coupon!! Long time no 'type.' We are actually VERY happy with the fridge!! Works well for us, including the freezer. Only problem...it likes to fly open on tight left turns. LOL!! So now we duct tape it shut!! The Cascadia feels roomier with more storage. It rides bouncy and seems to ride smoother than the KW until you hit some bumps and potholes!!!
"Lester"....your update was goin' fine 'til you just had to mention LIVER goin' in the freezer....!! You must be plannin' some de-stress catfishn along your travels...Hmmm?? Surely...you and your Mrs. dont waste fridge space on Liver...when there is sooo much other fine meats to graze on??? WhoooooEEEeee....🤮🤭
Unfortunately not. You need 6 months minimum. We have a video on it coming out this weekend. Be sure to watch. 😉 In the meantime thanks for watching this one.
Thanks Tom! We thought it started after one year. But not sure. We'll find out soon enough LOL! In the meantime the money and miles are much better already!! 50% higher paycheck!!!
I know you asked Kevin, but I’ll reply since I worked for them. Prime is basically similar to Werner, worked for them also, as far as pay and equipment. Prime pays .48 to .49 CPM, unless that has changed recently. They gave good equipment and very nice facilities. You will get paid for Orientation, they will feed and put you in a hotel room no cost. They were doing two people per room when I went through, but may have changed to single person rooms during COVID. You will get miles at Prime, they will keep you moving, but you are a number. Your fleet manager can make or break you and if you don’t play their game and do as they want, you will sit. Really look at it hard if they offer you the lease owner deal. Some people swear by it, I am not a proponent. You really have to be at your FM’s mercy if you do that, as they control your money. As a starter company, I’m sure there are worse. Go, learn, get experience, then move on as Kevin did. Honestly, I’m retired from another career. If not for my FM, I just could not stand him, and would not play his game.
I just left Prime. Pay is below .50cpm. Equipment is top notch. Freight is down with low production, dead heading hundreds of miles for a trailer or load. I started training, and students they've given me have already had previous trainers that kicked them off their trucks, and the truck they gave me was constantly breaking down with 600k miles because there's no trucks. Looking at crete myself higher pay, fridge in truck, profit sharing, guaranteed miles, practical miles, etc are all pluses in my book.
@@crazekris70 Thanks for adding your personal experience with Prime to the comments! You should definitely check out Crete. We are very happy with our move. They aren’t perfect, but it’s been waaaaaayyyy better in many ways!!!
True statement! Ive worked for crete on and off for 6 years! I only work 6 months a year, i live in the Philippines the other 6! But i averaged between 25 to 3000! Sonetimes i wish they don't promise people that! But its possible!
sorry this is off subject but how much would you charge your company if at all if they moved you to another truck bc of breakdown and the truck was dirty but is asking if you can clean it so you can start rolling?
That’s a bad situation but we don’t see how you could ‘charge’ them. If you aren’t willing to do it unpaid then we’d suggest you take it to the shop and tell them it’s dirty and you’ll wait for it to get cleaned. But then you wait not earning money. So they kinda have you over a barrel. I’m late answering your comment…so how did you handle it?
@@TheJoyofTrucking I cleaned it and charged 100.00 dollars for taking from my time and lot of elbow grease. lots of Dirt dried liquids on floor, debris like pebbles , dried old grass. And I had them pay me for cleaning products as well. Listen the only reason why I demanded I get paid for it is bc that would be my fifth time switching trucks and the third literally made me feel sick constant colds and stuff and the minute that I switch from that truck all the sudden no more colds no more sneezing running nose. So that's why I make them pay me for my time to clean this truck out and disinfect it.
Glad your liking it so far! They are a great company! They let me work 6 months out of the year! I go to the Philippines the other 6. Right now im in the Philippines 🇵🇭 but flying back on the 1st! No it won’t. 90% drop and hook. I did 3,600 miles this week and 3,400 last week. I did 133,000 miles last year and took all my home time and 3 week’s vacation. Crete is not like other companies - they always have freight for you.
No, it really is mostly drop and hook. Even when it’s a live load they have appointments so you get a door right away. As for miles, a lot of loads at open ended drops. So you can drive hard and drop soon or take it slowly and drop later on the day. You can dictate you pace a lot. You still run into some problems here but it’s head and shoulders above most companies.

In 6 weeks from now you will have a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT attitude about these guys! Get a 1099 gig, save your money and get your own truck / MC & DOT # - you’ll make more in 2 months than you you’ll average annually
Recommend any 1099 companies ?
Kevin, What truck did you get? Freightliner? Or KW ? Do a truck tour.
✅
Great job Kevin. I like the fact that you're open with everything. Crete sounds like a good choice. I'm looking forward to the next video.. Truck Safe.
👍😃🤩
good luck with the new company. hope they stick to there word about 3,000 miles a week, cause they can tell you that and sometimes it never pan's out. a lot of these trucking companys will say anything to get you inn the door, i found out first hand cause it happen to me more than once.
Yup….trucks have come a long way!!! Now we are just waiting for the bathroom to be added properly!! 😁😁😁
@@TheJoyofTrucking lmao.............RIGHT ON!!!!
Welcome aboard! Been here about two years, you’ll be happy here.
Thank you soooo much!!! Good to hear it from drivers who have time in with them! Hope we get to meet!
@@TheJoyofTrucking put a book bag in front of it. I usually put my bag of dog food in front. Something heavy so it won't open lol
Does Crete Carrier have a program for new CDL holders with no experience?
Unfortunately not. You need 6 months minimum. We have a video on it coming out this weekend. Be sure to watch. 😉 In the meantime thanks for watching this one.
Hopefully you will enjoy driving for Crete. I heard through their advertising they offer profit sharing after four years. Happy driving.
Thanks Tom! We thought it started after one year. But not sure. We'll find out soon enough LOL! In the meantime the money and miles are much better already!! 50% higher paycheck!!!
Pay is number 1.....somebody that finally gets it!
:-)) And working conditions matter too!!
i wanna see how tanja handle the ride
It’s bouncy!!!
Glad your liking it so far. Looking forward to seeing your truck. Be safe and keep on trucking.
Truck review coming soon. :-)) Truck Tour video a few weeks back.
doesn't matter how much they pay if they limit ur miles
Mileage is good. Averaging over 3000 miles per week. 😃
Good going Kevin.
Eagerly waiting for the truck tour.
Any thoughts on Prime?
@@rickyhawkins7407 Thank you very much Ricky for the explanation 👍
Sorry. We don’t know anything about Prime.
I have a family friend who used to drive for them. He really enjoyed them. He retired about 3 years ago.
That’s good to hear! Hope he’s now enjoying retirement!! Thanks for watching!!
I’ve heard the same horror stories with Crete, just like all the rest of them. Your still in the ‘ Honeymoon’ phase. 😂
I’ll check in with you later for those miles. Not doubting they’ll get you 3k/wk it’s just miles are an easy promise, tough on delivery.
Congrats!
True statement! Ive worked for crete on and off for 6 years! I only work 6 months a year, i live in the Philippines the other 6! But i averaged between 25 to 3000! Sonetimes i wish they don't promise people that! But its possible!
@@jaysonanderson1037 That’s awesome!!! Good for you! Nice to hear Crete works with their drivers on what drivers need/want. :-))
sorry this is off subject but how much would you charge your company if at all if they moved you to another truck bc of breakdown and the truck was dirty but is asking if you can clean it so you can start rolling?
Glad to see that you’re happy with the new company, sir!
🙏😃😃😃👍
❤
Kevin. What is the truck you got
2019 Freightliner. :-)
Well glad to have u part of the Crete family
Thanks you!!! We are very happy with our decision!!
Glad your liking it so far! They are a great company! They let me work 6 months out of the year! I go to the Philippines the other 6. Right now im in the Philippines 🇵🇭 but flying back on the 1st! Im already approved to come back, i first started with crete in November 2016. Ive averaged between 25 to 3000 a week!
That’s awesome!!!! And good to know for our future!! Hope to meet you!!!
I’ve been looking for a company to let me go to Thailand for 3 months or so every year to visit my wife’s family. Maybe I give Crete a call !
@@paulstone4804 Yes! We think that sounds like a great opportunity for drivers! Smart of a company to work with their drivers in what drivers need/want. Please let us know what they say. And don’t forget to mention SLOKEV please. 😉 Thank you!
@@paulstone4804 they let me go to the Philippines every year, theres another driver that goes to Thailand also! Just for some info!

Have you asked them what they dont pay for?
What do you mean? Can you be more specific, please?

Whats the age requirements for Crete ?
All trucking companies want 21 years of age and up for over the road
@@apuertorican1773 not all some require 22 or 23
Crete is 22 years old.
62 Cents!!! Better put on your big boy pants now!!! Ha, ha, ha!!! Just kidding 😂!!! Congratulations Kevin!!! As i was warning you about the economy, I just hope Crete is able to feed you the miles to stay busy and make a living!!! Wish you the best of luck!! Hope things work out well for you!!!
@@OnlyOneAGTheGreat i was maxed out i gave them 12.5 years i left i haul fuel paid by the hour and sleep in my bed everyday in the house i hardly ever saw working at crete
Thanks! All good so far!!
don't sleep in the truck for em
???
It will end up being more like 2000 miles and hours and days sitting in a dock at a distribution center....
So far it’s 3000 miles and things are good. :-)
Awesome to hear!!!!
Great!!!! Presently Kevin doing too many lives. He’ll need to speak with his asset manager. But things are good!!!
