Thank you for your video. That's a very clean setup. I appreciate your attention to detail. You are knowledable and it's obvious. I also like your accent. Good Job!
ive got a tmaxx 3.3 roller and am about to convert it, this video was definitely helpful, although id probably put a vxl system in it for comparable speeds as the engine, the only thing that was giving me greaf was the motor mounting situation, never thought of a bent piece of aluminum on the original mount, very clever
You said you found the aluminum motor mount angle at lowes for $4.00. Our Lowes here in Louisiana does not have anything like that. I'm building one right now. I ordered a motor mount from How2RC and it did not work. I asked them about it because I'm also using a 775 motor and they said their mounts don't work with the 775 only 540 and 550 motors. So now I'm having a heck of a time trying to get a piece of aluminum for this motor.
Feel the same way doing some surface rc stuff over the upcoming winter. Like you have that metal chassy. Nice you can run it in water looks like. 1 hour. Lol. That is awesome! Cost is good and it's your own creation.
I'm guessing you had a summit (hence the wheels, esc, motor, and battery) and completely stripped it of its goods and fit it into your t-maxx. I don't know why, but it is interesting. Cool truck.
Im doing kinda the same thing but to a t-maxx 2.5. but im not using my t maxx transmission. Instead i have bought a used e maxx 3906 transmission. and i plan on buying a robinson racing 775 motor bracket and a traxxas 775 brushed motor i already have a evx2 esc and a couple of 2s lipos, im gonna buy a low voltage buzzer cuz this evx2 isnt equiped with lvc. Im going with a 70t spur and a 20t pinion. Because im using the e maxx transmission ill have reverese and two speeds high and low.
cheaper project is always good and i am doing same thing to my S-Maxx and it will have a brushed motor and i am going for torque and it will be like a crawler
Hello, that is very nice conversion. But I really need help converting my t-maxx 3.3 to electric. I already have MOTOR, ESC, and a battery. But I really don't know what parts of transmission I should get. I also saw some videos that advise single speed. But I can't find that on tower hobbies except for the 2.5 traxxas. Can anybody please help.
Its a shame that you converted your nitro engine to eclectric for your neighbors sake. Most local laws clearly states that you are allowed to run internal combustion engines, power tools, musical instruments and amplified surround sound systems between the hours of 7 am to 8 pm. If it was my neighbor i say fuck off.
E-maxx is way more money then doing a simple conversion. price for an E-maxx without lipo battery is about 700 bucks. to convert your T-maxx to electric it'll cost about 250 bucks from hobbyking. just got to do your homework to figure that out. i just bought the motor, esc, 2 4s lipo batteries and gearing for $243.64
To be specific, I am trying to put a velineon motor with an unknown speed controller. I don't care about it since I have a vorza. I just want to make use of this useless kit of t-maxx because I hate nitro cars and i quit them.
Dude seriously one of those esc's isnt 100 bucks lol and who would by nimh batts at all lol not helpfull, and nobody has made a video of making a t maxx into a crawler is because NOBODY WANTS TO!
+MaxxRC Those esc are close to $100, probably right about $100 when this video was made in 2011. Nimh was also more prominent 5 years ago. Turning a tmaxx into a crawler is a pretty cool idea, and this video could benefit someone looking to do the conversion.

By far the cleanest conversion ive seen

Awesome! I have a Tmaxx 2.5 I'm thinking of converting. Do you have any videos of the truck running around? Thanks for your info on your conversion.
It's not about the cost it's about having fun and perhaps learning something in the process.

awsome t maxx! I'm in the process of doing something similar to yours. I have two and ones going to be using a brushed electric Dewalt motor.
Great video
So you still have the engines I would love to have if you don't use em
Wondering what you did with the motors interested in buying them
I was looking at doing this exact thing just wonder after you've done it how does it work and would u have changed anything looking back.
Good job, like you said nitro is very loud to run around in the neighborhood, I want to convert my MGT to electric or sell it and get an E-Maxx.
I'm thinking of getting a Jato 3.3 roller to make an E-Jato
nice conversion bro.you got my sub bro.
The project Itself is very cool
But...
Nitros are so much more realxing and make more fun

I wish someone would do an emaxx to tmaxx.
do you have to take the 2 speed out of it?Nice setup!
Great video. What kind of batteries are those? Lipos?
7 cell nimh battery
i was wondering where you can get industrial velcrow at?
so what is the part number for your straight drive conversation
Awesome e maxx
does the battery not rub the spur gear?
its a piece of aluminum L-channel. with holes drilled in it
I used a dewalt motor though. It's size is like a 840 size motor or something
very nice video man!
If you want good shocks just buy some blue springs instead of the red one's then you got great shocks
does tmaxx make a 3 spedd transmission
cheaper project is always good and i am doing same thing to my S-Maxx and it will have a brushed motor and i am going for torque and it will be like a crawler
I am doing the same.. but having trubble with the transmission.. how can I find that straight drive? I looked all over
Universal Hobbies, just blog
The part number is #4994x but if your tmaxx has "optidrive" you need #5195
Nice idea

MaxxRC cheaper for a beginner setup also you can't run 6s in that esc and you would be better off spending less and just dealing with nimh
