What's up with all these people bashing the car? It gets you from point A to point B just fine. And if you stick to the speed limit it gets you there just as quick as any other car.
crack pipe peter As a matter of fact I know something about cars. And that knowledge makes me appreciate this car no matter how much people think it sucks. It's funny how people expect so much more from a car that's really only basic transportation.
I compare a car against other cars. A skateboard gets you from point A to point B as well. That's not my determining factor when looking at a car, as any car can do it.
This was my first car, delivered pizza in it. Never let me down and never broke with regular maintenance, pretty quick little car when you wanted it to be as well, at least in corners and such.

My stepfather owns this same Yaris.. Just bright red and Automatic. It's a fun car to drive, and even better to learn how to drive on! Great stereo, great MPG, and has a great power/weight ratio! Also has a nice tight turning radius, and the headlights really shine at night! I'd suggest the S model though, because power windows & doors come standard..
It's a real shame to read so much hate on here. I, for once, enjoy watching reviews like this one, as well as I enjoy reviews of vans, trucks, luxury cars, exotics, and everything the market has to offer. One of the best things about Kyle's channel is definitely the variety, keep it up!
Why are people complaining? I'm glad you uploaded a video of an affordable car, I was kind of getting sick of the expensive, foreign car videos to be honest! And, Kyle, can you make a video of a 2001-2003 Ford Ranger XLT if you have enough time?
Love your videos Kyle! No matter what the year or the car keep the reviews going. It keeps us buyers knowing what to buy! Not everyone can afford a 100K car.
You're 100% right, Kyle. What makes your channel so awesome (and what keeps me coming back daily) is your verity. Depending on the day, I might be in the mood to check out some American muscle cars or some Japanese sports cars or some German luxury cars or some Italian super cars and of course, everything in between. It's nice to look through your upload list and always have something new and different to check out. Keep up the great work! - Greetings from Canada
First of all its a hatch, so for its category I find a very comfortable for a daily use. The engine can be buzzing sometimes but if you revv it a lot. On normal speeds its relatively quiet and its a nice car to drive. For its price there's nothing more you can expect or complain. I have the Sedan version but I already drove this one.
Year 2007 and it doesn't even have electric windows. I understand that this is a cheapest version of a Yaris, but come on. Great car, however. Very reliable and cheap to maintain. I myself own one. First generation of a Japanese version with a steering wheel on the right side. The Vitz RS. Love it!
I don't know why everyone is talking shit about this car but over in Europe you see quite a few of these models on the road, because the Yaris's are small, extremely practical, very fuel efficient, durable and well made. . Some people just want a car they can go from a to b in. Besides which the roads around Europe are much smaller than those in the US. Just some of you guys being ignorant, bet hardly any of you have even seen this car in person let alone driven one. They are very good cars.
I kid you not, a week ago I was looking for a car review on this type of car (same year). I was hoping you had one, you didn't until now! Awesome review! Thanks!
I'm not a huge fan of this eco car but I do love these cars where half the video isn't based on technology in the center console(not bashing you Kyle, you're doing your job on videos). It's more car focused and goes over the vehicle, not technology within it. Keep up the good work Kyle.
The thing I don't like about the interior of the Yaris is that the speedometer is in the center. That can get really annoying to have to look at the speedometer when you look straight at the road.
I found the center-mounted instruments annoying at first, but I got used to them. Took a couple of months, maybe. Still driving that same car now, almost 12 years later.
Michael, it's easier to see in the middle trust me. And takes NO getting used to, seems totally normal there. And at night it's great bc your entire view over the dashboard is just black. No lights etc...
If your getting a Yaris get the one with a manual transmission unless you go on interstates where there is heavy traffic. Manual transmissions are funner than automatic transmissions.
The less electric stuff, it has, the less things will break and need fixing, replacing, I don't get the point of buying an economy car and loading it up with options.
I would be lying if I told you that a Toyota Yaris is my cup of tea. However, I do find it quite fascinating to learn about the ins and outs of any vehicle, regardless of what it is. To be honest, I wouldn't give a second thought to a car like this, not even a first thought. But like Kyle said, it's about the variety. You have to admit though, it is kinda interesting!
I think the fact that he was indoors when he filmed it made everything seem louder than normal. I noticed that the sounds the doors made seemed louder than normal when he closed them. I think it was more an acoustic thing than any issue with the car.
Thats really not true. These are amazing cars and they deserve to shown every once in a while. I may be the only one who desperately wants one but I still think it's worth the 12 minute video
This is one of the best cheap subcompacts on the market. They are reliable as hell, you can pretty much drive it until it breaks in half without having many drivetrain issues. As for the people who say "where's the tach?" if you actually knew how to drive a manual you don't need the tach. For a cheap runaround car, these are perfect. If you want refinement, go with a Lexus.
Bro sorry for that comment, it was my brother, lol. Anyways i know you are just doing what you can, and its free so we cant complain, go ahead man and.. yes, i'll be waiting for that mk4 :) keep goin!
I love how you mix up the amount of cars you review. I mean, you do everything, well, almost everything. You still haven't done an AMC Spirit ;-) good videos anyway man, I love them!
I really enjoy all your reviews and if there's anything you can do to make them better, it would be to test drive the cars more often if at all possible, but if you can't that's understandable too, thanks!
I bought one in '07 as a courier vehicle, was around 16k new with just about every available option. I still have it in '14, and I can honestly say I wish I would have spent that money on a different automobile. Having a brand new car at a low price point is nice, but this thing really is cheaply made and feels like plastic all around. Sure, it's never had any major engine troubles, I've never had it in the shop for any issue, but the electric power steering and lack of ABS makes it almost dangerous to drive, if you take your eyes off the road, there's no real way to discern if the car is drifting, as there is literally no road feel at all. Also the A-pillar is pushed so far forward that it interferes with visibility during cornering. Overall, it does not feel like a safe car to drive due to it's construction (check out some crash test footage, it doesn't fair well), it's steering setup and it's lack of ABS. About all I say for it is the interior is well planned, and if you get the optional fold-down rear seats it has a good amount of cargo space for it's size. It also has a very good power to weight ratio, but that almost adds to the feel of overall cheapness.
@3:52 That is not true, cheeky Saabkyle04, amongst the cheapest offering is the Toyoda Aygo built in joint venture with PSA. It features a Daihatsu engine, is designed to be cheap to produce with the trunk lid primarily consisting of glas.

I have the same car as far as color and year. It should have a tilt steering wheel. And the rear seats can go back and forth on tracks. Love the the stick shift. These cars are zippy , fun to drive and they sip gas.
I prefer the hatch over the sedan bc it’s more customizable. The back seats not only go completely down but they also slide forward and back as well as recline for the tall folk in my life. I’ve used mine for hauling furniture to simply having a completely flat space for my 90lb dog to travel in 😃

the base yaris was one of the last cars to come with no radio if you got the base base one. I think the only car that comes with no radio at base level is the new jetta

I compare a car against other cars. A skateboard gets you from point A to point B as well. That's not my determining factor when looking at a car, as any car can do it.
***** I'd rather have a Golf any day. At least they are well constructed and don't have recalls every other year.
The all-basic vehicles are getting more and more rare
This was my first car, delivered pizza in it. Never let me down and never broke with regular maintenance, pretty quick little car when you wanted it to be as well, at least in corners and such.
The center speedometer is probably my favorite thing about the car. I also love the storage compartments. Still driving mine 10 yrs later,
Thats center speedometer is the one drawback of the older Yaris. It just bothers me.
