I am 62 years old and am retiring in 5 days. I've been married for over 40 years and worked outside the home that entire time while we raised our son. Homemaking: Do everything with a loving heart. Do a chore a day to keep up with the house and yard. Use the crockpot, oven, stove, instapot whatever .and freeze the extra. Freeze ALL leftovers/label and tag it too Teach the kids to help clean! Teach the husband to help cook! It's ok to be and to look tired. It ok to say "I've had a rough day". It's ok to "Let go and Let God".
My (now late) husband and I decided even before we were engaged that when we got married we would be a traditional family. He would be the financial provider and I would be the home maker and Mom. I worked up until one month before our first baby was born, and became a stay at home Mom. Even after he passed on, I was able to continue as a sahm. Our children are 28 and 30 and I am still a homemaker. Thank goodness we planned for the what ifs life can throw at you. It is possible if you want it to be. My Mother was so amazing. She was always a sahm. The best memories came from that. 😊❄☃🌞💗✝
momof2momof2- Your story sounds similar to mine! Im sure your (now grown) children appreciated having you there for them and carry your love and efforts with them always! Take care!
You are spot on Lisa! Homemakers don't realize how very crucial they are! When I was a girl, I knew I wanted to follow my mother's example and get married, raise children and take care of our home. But, life happened and I became a single mom. There were many hard and challenging years. But now I'm finally living the life I dreamed of even though my sons are men and have children of their own. The home my 2nd (and amazing) husband and I share has become the place where I can finally do all that I wanted to do so many years ago. Being a homemaker doesn't end when the children leave the nest. I love being a homemaker and taking care of my husband and being there for my grandchildren. Thank you for this lovely video ❤
Love video. I am now homemaking for my daughter, son in law and grandchildren. I feel like I’m really helping set the tone for my family. My daughter is a provider in healthcare and works a lot. I’m still working full time as is my son in law. I’m allowing my family more time to parent. It’s so much fun
Love love this video. As my husband says I'm the heart of the home. It is an honor for me to care for my family. I run the home and he takes care of repairs, bills, cars etc. We have traditional marriage. I know that's not for everyone.
Hello from Ontario. Love your vibe. Glad I found your channel. I raised 4 kids while working full time, 12 hour shifts. Now, they are all grown and off on their own, I am a wife and a homemaker and I love it. When I get the inkling that I should be "contributing" financially like I did before, my husband reminds me that my new role is very important. He says I am the engine in the machine that is our life.
This was incredibly encouraging. I can see myself watching it annually. I would be so privileged if my children spoke of me the way you honoured your mom.
Perfect! Thank you, I have been a homemaker in the traditional sense for 30 years. It was worth every minute and still is. I love it, my home and my family, garden and hobbies. It is so worth it if you can do it. Lovely video 😀
Even though I had years of working outside the home, when I was a stay at home mom and homemaker those were my happiest times. Being a homemaker can be a challenge but I really enjoyed it. Thank you for helping people understand that you are doing a very important job.
Making your recipe right now and let me tell you… my house smells soooooo good! Thank you for your videos, I love them. They make me feel so happy to have chosen a simple life and being a homemaker ❤
Great video, Lisa! Even as a single person I find this video encouraging to make my home that soft landing place. I wanted to share what a married friend told me: Men really notice how the home smells. They appreciate a good smelling home, whether freshly aired out or with the scents of cooking, baking, etc.
Homemaking and caring for the needs of your family is the most important job. I agree with everything said here. Especially how much it is worth and the influence it has on the family and even friends . I was a devoted and skilled homemaker for 32 years. My husband and I got together when I was 18 he never wanted me to work outside the home. I had 9 children...( the Joy of my life. ) He was king of our home and we treated him as such. We had a Beautiful family. He became cruel and bitter and walked out on ( left us ) when we still had 7 children at home. He divorced and remarried right away. I homeschooled my children and couldn't get a job. ( I had never worked a secular job in my life. ) He left me in a very desperate and bad way... ( I am still in a bad way and it's been almost 11 years. ) I am raising our last child she is 14.. I am still a homemaker.😊😊 Lost and Alone wondering what to do with my Future. Praying for a new dream to pursue. I want to live before I die. I would like to travel but not alone.~
Give it to God to carry, and ask the Lord to choose your next partner; have faith and don’t fear tomorrow. You’ve kept going, kept them safe, don’t stop now, take care of your health, so that you can enjoy what God has in store for you. Your story is my own, and I’m now married for ten years to a good man of Gods choosing. I spent over 11 years alone, raising my kids too. Prayer and humbling yourself to Gods will for you, changes things. Hugs sis. ❤
Thank you. I just found this video and subscribed to your channel. I really like the philosophy and tone you shared. As a wife/mom who works "outside the home" (though mostly from home these days), I want to be a great homemaker also but I usually feel as though it's a burden to keep on top of things. Your video is helping me think of it as more of an energizing opportunity than a tiring chore. Follow through will be the challenge, though! 🤞
Wow, you are an amazing lady. This world is shifting into a very dark place and not just with things like addiction. I think when women stayed at home and looked after the family and home things were so much better. There are so many young women who are made to feel lazy because they want to be home makers rather than go out to work, especially in my country, UK. Well is there any wonder that there is a record number of children with adhd, simply because they don’t get the time and nurturing that children in the past received. If women want to work that’s fine too, but if they want to be homemakers that should be allowed to happen. Thank you for your wonderful videos, they are really uplifting, keep up the good work!
Thank you for focusing on Homemaking - a beautiful 'career' and not always appreciated by society. I love my role as homemaker/mother and now grandmother even after a long career in teaching. Nothing compares with the gratification I have always gotten from making our home a serene and happy place. And now I enjoy my large family even more as they replicate that feeling in their own homes. It is indeed comforting and actually healthy. Some chaos and some peace is the answer. Enjoy the home, the meals and the social activity that happen when hearth and home are an important part of one's life.
Once again..a wonderfully presented video, full of a lot of great information & tips. I think this is one reason I, personally, enjoy watching your videos. You bring yourself into it 100%. What you talk to us about comes totally thru you...not just your welcoming smile, but your eyes. They definitely are the window to your soul..which makes what you have to share with us so very real..as it is easy to see it comes from the heart. You`re not just here promoting a video..but sincerely helping us to be better & make the world around us better. Thank you so very much! God bless!

So much wisdom Lisa. Thank you. Our young moms need so much encouragement to see homemaking as a blessing. It is so true the effects are long lasting and far reaching. My grown children today thank me from time to time just for always being there. I was always available. Yes, everyone has those days when they feel like nothing is getting done but at the end of the day, we are nurturing our families which are a gift from God. I really enjoy your videos.
Hello Lisa, you have managed to so quietly, and so elegantly deliver the most powerful and sound message within 8 minutes what others try and ram, shout and push their thoughts and opinions onto us leaving a feeling of exhaustion after watching them. I feel like I’m home with your warm embrace and a smile that lights me up inside. Your message is always on point and I’m wondering if you have any advice or guidance for parents who look after adult children full time with special needs. I’m currently having to lean on my mum for some deep rest to gain strength again but any wisdom would be warmly received ❤
What a sweet comment, Simone, thank you! In regard to your question, what are you struggling with the most...I'm certainly no expert but happy to help :)
@@asimpleseason2616 Thank you Lisa, I think now that I have received rest and a reset I’m worried that when I go back to being a full time caregiver and my husband goes back to work from taking her of our young adult child that I won’t stick to allowing myself my time to as you pointed out of taking care of myself as I do her. So I guess I need help with sticking with a routine that allows me some time before I’m needed so getting up an hour earlier to pray and be quiet in my thoughts to prepare myself for the day ahead. I do want to get up but instead I have negative thoughts just laying there then will feel exhausted before I even start. And I’m not good sticking to my list of things to get done for me and will just drift in my day of fog. It’s a new diagnosis and the road has been long to get to where we are and I’m trying to pave the way forward and return to my old habits. Where do you get your daily motivation from Lisa and how do you smile even if you’re are hurting? It’s ok if you can’t help Lisa as it’s murky waters I’m walking in and difficult to probably understand me when I find it difficult to explain myself but please know I’m just truly grateful you offered me help and I’m always just so happy to see you. Love Simone xx
@@asimpleseason2616Hello Lisa, very quickly popped on as I’ve noticed that my reply on your kind offer to help me never shows in the comments. I’m wondering if maybe it disappeared? Or did you get to read it at all? No problem if not, maybe it was never meant to be seen ❤❤❤ but it was so extremely kind of you to offer such a warm and kind gesture to help. Xx
Back in the 70s there was a book titled The Total Woman by Maribel Morgan that touched on a lot of these ideas you have here. Women today may call it sexist but it had a lot of good tips in it. Especially for self care.
To be a homemaker is such a beautiful thing. I’m happy for those who are able to do it ♥️ my grandmother was always such a wonderful example of home making
Beautiful message. Even as the grandparents in our family circle, we can still be called to provide all the same nurturing qualities in our home. I love this message, and it was just the inspiration I needed as I head into the busy weekend. Thank you ❤
Thank you for your encouragement. Your so beautiful and well spoken. I've been a homemaker for 28 years and it's the best job in the world. Hard but so rewarding. Your a blessing thank u for the videos. I'm from AL in USA.
Lisa, This is such an uplifting, encouraging and VALIDATING message that I know I really needed to hear right now. Your timing is impeccable and your perspective is so refreshing and supportive. Homemaking really is an important vocation. I lose sight of that on occasion. The next time I am feeling weary, I will watch this video again. It's a treasure. Thank you so much!!! Saluti da New York!
Yay! I'm so pleased this came at the right time for you...ironically, I was planning something completely different for this week but felt called at the last moment to do this one...I'm so glad it helped...have a great weekend :)
My Mom was amazing. I was so lucky to have such an amazing Mom. We were best friends. Be proud of yourselves if you are a homemaker. I was told many times it wasn't a job.
I am ....but I'm married to a narcissist with no possibility of divorce and my life has turned to a nightmare since I stopped my job and became a household.....he's a control freak with OCD ....I cook twice a day sophisticated meals clean, and everything most be so tidy even with babies and now that my children are grown up he screams about their mess when playing....I develop some complexes as for example I always think that I 'm nit doing anything even if I spend all the day cleaning snd cooking etc .....
@@ZephiraBlanche I was married to a narcissistic husband and abuser for 26 years. Never could do anything good enough for him. I finally left him in 2014 after he shoved me into a bath tub and my son called the cops on him. Thought it would be tough on my own. At times it was. Fast forward to 2024. Living my best life now. Don't have to answer to no one. Can do what I want when I want. Loving my new life. I am regaining my self esteem and can control my own money. Have faith and things will fall into place.

Greeting people is wonderful! I stay home but even if you dont there is something wonderful that happens with a cheerful "good morning!" when family members wake up and xome to the kitchen in the morning or when people come home. Small effort for big benefit ❤🎉
I'm a retired RN, and have the privilege of being a homemaker. I love caring for my home and my husband. My mother worked outside the home but she did all the cooking, cleaning, taking us to activities and was always there for us because daddy worked incredibly long hours.i still miss her. Thank you Lisa for your encouragement, i will definitely listen to this again. God bless you
Thank you for your beautiful videos. I have been a homemaker for 30 years. I agree with all you say here. I have done it for many years and I have a wonderful family because of it.
In the last few months our family has gone through some (job & emotional) upheaval, and recently we’ve begun to settle. I’ve been so blessed to remain at home through it all; I totally understand that mom tends to be the thermostat in the home. This video is what I needed to get my head on straight as we get our family going again. Thank you very much & have a wonderfully blessed day! ❤
You truly inspire me to be better than I was yesterday. As someone who suffers from anxiety and mild depression, daily living can be a real struggle. Your posts lift me up, and give me hope.
First time I've seen this channel. I enjoyed the video. I'm in my late 60's and many years ago I read the book, "The Hidden Art of Homemaking" by Edith Schaeffer. It influenced me in many ways and echoes some of your sentiments regarding homemaking. It's a wonderful example of making the "house" into a "home".
You are so right on about what homemakers would make if they were actually paid. But homemaking is done in love. Let's not forget the crafting homemakers do as well, sewing, crocheting blankets and making quilts. Most people don't realize that if pricing were taken into consideration, just a crocheted double size blanket would cost over $1000.00. Why? Even though the yarn would cost $50.00 at the minimum for that size blanket, there's the cost of making it. If a crafter is paid by the hour and it takes days or weeks to make one, that is what the cost would be. A quilt would cost even more no matter the size. Then take the flip side of this, instead of buying a wedding dress off the rack for thousands of dollars, buy the material and pattern and have someone make it if you don't sew. That could cut the cost below $500.00.
@@asimpleseason2616 I've been crocheting blankets as gifts for years. I'll continue with that but just found a site where I can sell them too. Not for that price but that's ok.
Well...being a retired nurse, who did shift work, it was absolutely necessary to have a husband, who not only helped with the kids, but would do some kind of cooking, for their supper. Fish sticks and buttered noodles was his regular. I worked 3-11 and night shifts. Not easy with a family.
Thank you dear lady, for sharing these valuable insights so freely. God’s Word is clear on the relevance of the wife/mother’s place in the home. Unfortunately this has largely been lost in our current society. I was a working mother, but devoted all of my free time to my family. The Lord has blessed me in return with wonderful child and husband. I love my home and enjoy making it that very special place for all who enter. Thank you again for your videos, they are so important. I will share them with others.
Thanks for this Lisa! It was very meaningful , well said and simply lovely! You are wise in putting this together as you did! I had a mom who worked outside the home and I did too ( now recently retired ) . My grandmother was a role model in homemaking for many. I LOVE homemaking in my retirement and think of my grandmother’s lessons everyday.
I adore this cozy heartfelt video that you have made! This is exactly how I want to feel inspired to take care of myself and my home! 😊❤ Thank you so much!
💞🏡💞 Thank you for these beautiful words of wisdom. Your calculated monetary value is a blessing to discover as it emphasizes the value of time invested .. and then we also experience the joy of seeing the results growing in our family. My grandmother played a huge role in my life as she shared her wisdom and homemaking techniques with me. She also was very creative and resourceful in sewing and rug making .. inspiring me to turn a rug making hobby into a home business .. and that was just one of the valuable seeds she planted in my life .. giving me an example to pass on to my own children. 💌🙋
Thank you Lisa for a charming video as always. I have to admit I was not a great homemaker when I was younger raising a family. I worked outside the home and did long 12 hour shifts days and nights as a nurse. I was so exhausted much of the time that all I could manage many days was a quick easy meal and the kids baths after homework. Days off were spent doing errands, laundry and tidying up. It felt like a never ending cycle. I think many women feel this way even today. Staying home to care for the family and home are a luxury. I appreciate the concept though and would have loved to have been able to do that. Your family is very fortunate to have you there for them. We are also glad you are here sharing your wonderful tips and recipes.
You did your very best, Cindy and I'm sure your kids know it...I work outside the home part time as well as you tube and it can get crazy sometimes so I hear you ...many blessings to you :)
Thank you Lisa for another wonderful, heartwarming video. You make me feel good about what I do. It is almost as if I hear my inner voice cheering me on. You are just so calming. Thanks again.
Thanks Lisa, I absolutely loved this video. Ive always enjoyed staying home and keeping house, but in the last few years it’s been hard because I’ve been battling health issues. I still have good days or months and then I can be down for a month. But I am trying to be happier and more positive and creative. So I really appreciate your outlook on house making at some point my health will be better and things will be easier. It’s nice to have a little pick me up once in a while so thank you for that, I needed it. ❣️

Lisa your warmth, grace and wisdom are such a blessing to us your viewers. I love your videos always learn something from you so happy to have found your channel last year. Thank you for sharing with us : )
Amen! Amen! Amen! Please remember; homemakers come in all shapes and sizes! Not only can a wife/mother or husband/father create a warm, loving and peaceful home, but also aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, etc. Make your goal to create good memories. A warm home where everyone feels enveloped by a safe and nurtured atmosphere will mean the people in it can just 'be' together. And how naturally will the 'distractions ' of this world melt away into the peace and tranquillity of your home.

Xx

what a beautiful saying
New subscriber here & I love your channel! Thank you for taking the time to give us such inspiration ❤
Yay! Welcome! I'm so glad you are enjoying the channel and thank you for visiting :)
Beautiful video. Homemaking has become a priority for me this year!
Wonderful!
Love your videos and your words of wisdom. They are over so fast. Keep doing what you are doing I gratefully love your whole content.
Thank you so much!
You have such a beautiful smile and so well spoken...I can listen to you for hours 😊
What a sweet thing to say...thank you for visiting :)
Beautiful message. Even as the grandparents in our family circle, we can still be called to provide all the same nurturing qualities in our home. I love this message, and it was just the inspiration I needed as I head into the busy weekend. Thank you ❤
Love that, Carol...thank you :)
Thank you for your encouragement. Your so beautiful and well spoken. I've been a homemaker for 28 years and it's the best job in the world. Hard but so rewarding. Your a blessing thank u for the videos. I'm from AL in USA.
A noble job indeed, Karen...happy to see you here all the way from AL :)
Amen! Thank you for your wisdom.
I think that you are just beautiful and such timeless advice for us all. I appreciate your sweet videos.
How kind of you, Cindy and thank you :)
Lovely, fresh perspective. ❤ Thank you 🙏🏼
Lisa, This is such an uplifting, encouraging and VALIDATING message that I know I really needed to hear right now.

@@Cori-se9ww I'm so happy that you have finally found your true self and living the way you want....I hope to escape one day from this hell with my children....as sooner as possible ...God help me
Greeting people is wonderful! I stay home but even if you dont there is something wonderful that happens with a cheerful "good morning!" when family members wake up and xome to the kitchen in the morning or when people come home. Small effort for big benefit ❤🎉
So true!
God bless you
Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you for this wonderful video to remind me of all the wonderful things in homemaking.
Thank you for your beautiful videos. I have been a homemaker for 30 years. I agree with all you say here. I have done it for many years and I have a wonderful family because of it.
So happy to hear that! Thank you for the visit and hope you have a wonderful evening :)
thanks so much, Joy...I'm sorry this season is tough right now; sending you wishes for good times ahead :)
Oh my goodness!!! What a beautiful and thought provoking presentation. Thank-you ❤❤❤
Wow, thank you!

Interesting sounding book...I’ll have to check it out 😊
You are so right on about what homemakers would make if they were actually paid.
You are so right, Juanita!
@@asimpleseason2616 I've been crocheting blankets as gifts for years. I'll continue with that but just found a site where I can sell them too. Not for that price but that's ok.
I feel blessed to have found your channel. You are a lovely person.
What a kind thing to say...thank you and welcome ...hope you have a great weekend :)
Lisa, I love your videos! Have you ever considered showing us more of your home? 😍
Thanks, Debbie, I did do a little home tour video a few months back :)
Well...being a retired nurse, who did shift work, it was absolutely necessary to have a husband, who not only helped with the kids, but would do some kind of cooking, for their supper. Fish sticks and buttered noodles was his regular. I worked 3-11 and night shifts. Not easy with a family.
You are so right, Sonya...you still made a home for your kids and I'm sure they know you gave it your all to provide everything you did :)
Each video is a real gem and always over too soon. Thank you for sharing your ideas, your recipes and just yourself. Love every minute.
what a lovely comment, thank you, Marilyn :)
Wonderful video!
I really appreciate your message in this video. Just found your channel tonight! Greetings from Alberta!
Hello, neighbor! Thanks so much for visiting, Jennifer :)
Totally agree ❤
Excellent advice Lisa. I'm saving this to review as a reminder.
Sounds like your grandma was a real blessing to you...wonderful :)
Beautiful message. Thank you. This was very encouraging and a wonderful reminder.
This is lovely. Thank you.
I adore this cozy heartfelt video that you have made! This is exactly how I want to feel inspired to take care of myself and my home! 😊❤ Thank you so much!
Yay! I’m so glad to hear that 😊
inspiring video, thanks

Thank you for these beautiful words of wisdom.

Amen! Amen!
