    Thank you for reacting to my favorite band! I got eased into Mayu's growls and screams with their original song Oiran and a few of their cover songs before they dropped this! I usually dont like screaming but Mayu can scream and growl at me all day long! So, I recommend Oiran next or their ballad Life. Life is sung to the drummer (Tamu) who just had a baby and they are emotional and also celebrating Hazuki's birthday (guitarist on left).

    Add me to the list for Oiran, then perhaps Sorai and Life to show the band’s range. Just to reiterate the story behind Life, since so many reviewers are confused by the emotional nature of the performance. It was a celebration of Tamu’s (drummer) return from maternity leave and Hazuki’s (guitar stage right) birthday. There was an emotional speech prior to them starting the song and they all turned to perform for Tamu. Tamu barely made it through the song.

    They're a "supergroup" in the sense that they're all members and/or former members of other bands who came together for this (at the time) side project for Mayu, who was looking to get something going after leaving her previous band (Lipstick). Sort of like how people called Temple Of The Dog a supergroup because they were all from other bands. But it's not like they were members of the biggest bands in the world or anything, like a true supergroup. However, in Nemopila's case, they are sort of a supergroup in the TRUE sense because Tamu (drums) and Saki (lead guitar stage left) have long been recognized as two of the best at their respective crafts, so having them in a band together pretty much validates the "supergroup" designation. Saki was in Destrose briefly but is best known as Mary's Blood's guitarist. Shred goddess. As for the other three, Lipstick were popular in the scene, but not so much beyond it. Same more or less with Disqualia (stage right guitarist Hazuki's former band). Hazuki was somewhat overshadowed by Disqualia's other guitarist Narumi, who was well known having played in Destrose. Hazuki also plays in the Lisa-X band, but Lisa's the star of that show, so Hazuki was always underrated I think. All of which has changed since Nemophila got together, as she's trading leads and sharing the spotlight with Saki. No more playing second fiddle. And clearly she's incredible, as everyone now realizes. Haraguchi-san (bass) was in a band called Holderlins, who I'd never heard of before Nemophila happened. Weirdly, I searched for Holderlins on youtube and found a video which I'd already "liked" at some point, so I guess I checked them out at some point in the past, but I don't remember hearing the song before although I'd like it again if I could. She was a school friend of Mayu's, so that's how she ended up in the band, which is a good thing, 'cos Haraguchi-san's also incredible, and fast becoming one of my favourite musicians not just because of her playing, but because of her whole personality. Thuis comment is too long already and I didn't even get to my point, but since I forgot what it was, I'll stop now.

    Fighter is a great song of theirs, love the hard rock feel, guitars. Mayu does screams really well. But her going scream to clean into cleans is incredible. Mayu, singer is from the band Lipstick. Guitarist Saki is in Marys Blood, she has a new band with ex bassist from Dragonforce also. Guitarist Hazuki, is in Lisa X band, and from Disqualia. Bassist Haraguchi San, is from Holderlins. Drummer Marata Tamu is in projects and a well known session drummer in Japan. Nemophila, Band Maid, Lovebites, Marys Blood all favorite bands of mine. Marys Blood song Marionette is great start of their songs.
    They came together as freinds in late 2019 to create Nemophila. Drummer Tamu late 2019, early 2020 was pregnant, had her baby son in spring 2020. Nemophila covers Iron Maidens Trooper, and filmed their first song Oiran in spring while Tamu was pregnant. Their song Life gives another great moment. It's a beautiful rock ballad, showing their creativity, and versatility. Mayu gives a beautiful voval performance. The song is awesome, as drummer Tamu is holding back emotion all song, until Mayu gestures to her and she starts crying, all while drumming flawlessly. Life is filmed from their live stream virtual concert back last august, during 2020. Tamu had just come back from having her baby and nursing. So the song was emotional for her. And they turned their mics to face her, too sing too her. They took a break from the set, came back stage, all talked with Tamu, some tears, turned their mics, and did Life. I am 49, from Philly here, dont know japanese, but this song has me grabbing tissues.

    Personal opinion but you can't go wrong with these ladies, even their covers are fire.
    While they are technically a super group, they came together after Mayu (singer) left her band and wanted to do a show. The ladies all came together and threw together a set and had a blast. They started working seriously on the little throw together group and COVID hit. Good news is they just signed with a label so it looks like they plan on this thing sticking around.

    Nemophila members come from industry veterans. You may want to read some of my comments if interested.
    - Saki (right g; current member of Mary's Blood, all female metal band and a former member of DESTROSE) is a famous shredest shred master. She is very pretty and an phenomenal guitar player.
    - Mayu (v) was a former member of LIPSTICK which was formed in 2012 while all members in high school. They never caught on and was a underground band. It's disbanded.
    - Hazuki (left g) was a former member of Disqualia (all female metal band formed in 2015 by three former members of legendary all-female metal band DESTROSE: Narumi, Risa*Risa and Ibuki). The vocal and bass player left Disqualia so they are not active.
    - Haraguchi-san (bass) is former member of HoLDERLINS (a co-ed metal group still active)
    - And lastly, Tamu Murata (drums) a former member of SORAMIMI. She actually started as a Fusion drummer; and she can play almost any genre. Her official channel has over 40 million combined views (check out her channel). She is a top female drummer from Japan that includes Akane (Band-Maid, hard rock), Haruna (Lovebites, metal), Kanade Sato (19 yrs old fusion prodigy), and Senri Kawaguchi (world famous Fusion Jazz).
    ** Final thoughts: Hazuki, Saki, Haruna and Miho (of LOVEBITES), Narumi, Ibuki and Risa*Risa were all members of DESTROSE. They were legendary for having so many stellar female musicians that went on to form other bands. Their songs are absolutely compelling. I highly recommend you guys check out DESTROSE ("Maze", "Rin", "Destination", etc) with Marina as vocals.
    ("Maze") ruclips.net/video/V1Sxfs83Olw/видео.html ("Rin") ruclips.net/video/G1VwEGHPIhs/видео.html (you will see Miho and Haruna (Lovebites) in the MV's).
    *** Final final thoughs: Disqualia was short lived but their video for "right NOW" (2016) will show what Hazuki and Narumi are able to do. It's an awesome song. ruclips.net/video/qGvi4geIZd0/видео.html

    There are many female rock musicians in Japan. Many of them know each other from working as session musicians, on music projects and metal bands. Saki (the guitarist on the right) is a very famous metal guitarist. She was the guitarist of the band "Destrose" as a teenager and later joined Mary's Blood in 2010. Later Miho and Haruna (bassist and drummer of Lovebites) joined Destrose. After Destrose disbanded, MIho formed her power metal band Lovebites in 2016. Tamu (the drummer) is also a famous rock musician who has done several projects.

      @hiawatha.g 3 года назад +6

      I would agree, there was not a conscious decision to make a "supergroup". Mayu left Lipstick, which never really broke through. She wanted to do something more ambitious, and knew some of the other musicians; Saki came on board and got Hazuki to join. Only Saki had been with a breakout band before; Tamu is well established but was doing session work with other bands, as was Hazuki. And Hara-san was to some extent wasted in Holderlins. Sometimes it's just a matter of chemistry--you need to get the right combination of people together and it ignites. Pretty similar story to Lovebites. But my gosh, there is no stopping this band now!
