Hey Tom, I just wanted to thank you. Per your videos and recommendations I picked up a Z Grills Cruiser 200 and love the thing. I have had it for several months and have now had a chance to cook many things from hot and fast to low and slow and this grill is amazing.
Nice modification. I really like the small kamados, but I have a Weber Jumbo Joe with Cajun Bandit smoker setup and a CB rotisserie plus a Weber Go Anywhere with an Onlyfire rotisserie. I really like both for their weight now that I am in the upper 60’s.
I actually think the smaller holes eill control the heat better. Those ceramic grills can over shoot temperatures pretty quick. Short ribs looked great Tom. The mod was spot on too! Thanks again for sharing!
I got Kamado Joe Jr for 299.00 and it came with a perfect heat deflector setup and stays locked in on temp once you get it set up. It's a 13" kamado. You can find them on sale at times. It's been a great compact grill. Nice work you did getting a larger deflector. Nice looking ribs there!
Thanks for the mod idea Tom. I got one of these a while ago, but mine is in Tom Horsman blaze orange. I notice the same problem with this heat deflector. They should have made it like those available for the larger models. Another channel used a 9" stone from Amazon on top of the regular grill grate. You could do the same with that useless grate that came with the stone and then follow the rest of your mod. And those ribs look delicious! You might want to amend the title of the video.
Sorry Tom, but this makes no sense. That plate and the holder makes sense for having the plate in the center, where the heat moves around and grows from the plate itself. You went and drilled holes in a stone where heat will direcly come though those holes. Where did that logic come from? You are more so creating a kiln instead of a difusser where heat generates and moves around. I You should make the same food with that London stone. It's only fair to do it that way. Thank you sir.
Thanks for Watching! Did you truly watch? The stone from London is only 6”, so your indirect area is only 6”. The 1/2” holes on the 11” pizza stone don’t create direct, but allow airflow which in this case brings smoke along which was proven by the final result. Worked very well….

“I don’t know what we’re gonna do with you….you’re pretty much a hockey puck.” 😂
Thanks for Watching! Lol….
Pretty neat egg and the mod makes it more favorable now! Short ribs are 🔥🔥. Cheers 🍻
Thank you! Appreciate you watching!
Road closed on that provided puck thats for sure, but can always rely on Tom to make something fit for purpose.
Thanks for watching! Agreed on the puck
Wow that’s a small egg. I suppose you could smoke meat balls 1 at a time with the small diffuser(hockey puck)😉.
Nice cook
Thanks for watching Eric! With the mod, there’s quite a bit of room….
I have always wanted one
Thanks for Watching!
