They could have had the decency to keep the camera on the group whilst 'apparently' interviewing them. There is a lot of egos on display out there in glamour land. The M.T members however as always showed grace and humility. From the old school and a time when the grammy's carried greater dignity. I hope MT win their category but this little less than 2 minute chat with the camera focusing off onto other artists showed little respect in my opinion.
I did love however Alan's gentlemanly comment regarding the lady's necklace. Very delicately put. My guess is they are diamonds. They can't be first grade though it would be worth more than a 500 foot yacht.
The group looked very suave and sophisticated and hats off to Janis for her very jazzy costume. That lady has style. Oh for the days when Nat and Frank, Streisand and Hepburn, Basie and co were about. These youngsters today with all their bling trying to draw attention to themselves lack the grace and poise of those from the past. Remember Audrey saying the elegance is the only true beauty that lasts. Janis and Cheryl, Aln and Tim seem to innately know this but all those 20 to 30 year olds seem to have no idea. The days of sophistication appear to be close to dead. How sad.
P.S. I am allowed to be critical of modern culture as I am not American. Most Australians do not care for excess or showoffs. Fingers crossed may MT win their another grammy.

The Manhattan Transfer is amazing! I wish there was more video of them instead of the other attendees.

Anyone interested you can hear Janis sing in the Young Generation
on youtube and also single 'The Hideaway' as part of The Love Ones.
Also known as Laurel Canyon, The Loved Ones were Janis Siegel, Dori Miles and Rona Rothenberg. "Diggin' You" was the flip side to "It's Not Gonna Take Too Long" on Kapp records.
And for Cheryl fans the entire New Deal Rhythm Band album is on youtube and song called Shanghai Lil where there is a photograph of a very young Cheryl with the band.

It’s obvious the interviewer knows nothing about the Manhattan Transfer. The questions were so shallow, so generic.

Thank you arcecreatives and all the MT fans out there on Facebook (which I am not a user of but can still read posts) for airing the same opinion about the interviewer. I don't feel guilty now. Even if one has no idea of MT history and their amazing achievements one can still ask interesting questions. She kept looking away and came across as rather empty minded. The MT members are kinder than I am. I thought they were treated not dreadfully but neither with any sincerity or class. Still, I suppose that is just the tiniest thing.
If per unlikely chance Alan reads this, 'Did you get to see the group photograph image' sent by your lovely promoter?
