I recently looked at buying points for Southwest airlines at double points. Even at double points it was cheaper to buy a flight. It may depend on the flight as I only looked at a single flight scenario but paying with double points would have cost an extra $25.
Just signed up for the Hilton Honors. I take 3 or 4 trips to Vegas a year. Was thinking about checking out their properties while staying there. Is it smarter to sign up for honors and use it or hit the casino up and then book?
I wish if I used my Hilton Amex to purchase the Hilton points, it counted as Hilton spend, thus earning even more points when I paid off the credit card bill. But I've seen feedback that Amex doesn't treat the points buy this way. That still the case?
I have the AMEX Hilton Surpass and bought points with their latest BOGO promotion using that card. I received 3x the price I paid in points on my statement for that transaction.
I received an email Hilton promotion to buy 160,000 points for $1,600.00 and Hilton match the 160,000 points for a total number of points of 320,000 for $1,600.00. Is this a good deal based on your experience?
I'm a little confused about it definitely not being a good deal for Leoprieto74. In the video I thought you say: "I've since learned that, when Hilton Honors points are on sale for pretty much buy one get one free... it makes a lot of sense to stock up"
@@mixedplate185 In my experience it makes sense, if you love high class hotels. We booked some hotels in Mexico around Christmas 2020, where the point value was higher than 0.5 $ct per point. And now we booked three hotels on the Seychelles where the points are rather worth 1$ct per point. Also Maledives or the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam are worth it. Turkey and Mexico have some low cost hotels (Garden Inns and some DoubleTrees), where the price would be around 80 US$ but the point price is somewhere between 5,000 to 10,000 points. Therefore, the answer is easy: if you want to go for specific hotels, it might make sense. If not, then it's a waste of money. :-)

You also have to take into account that when you book with points the 5th night is free. So if you're staying that long it could become a better idea.
This is true, but IMO doesn't justify the cost of buying points
Under no circumstances should anyone buy points.
I'm always tempted to buy points when there's a promotion but it's honestly never really that serious lol
Yea unless you're going on a trip soon or something like that
has the 2022 promotion for double points ended? what timeframe do they usually issue promotions?
Don't forget, pay with your Hilton branded card and you can get X12, X14 points per dollar.
I get 18 points per dollar.
5th award night is free also btw if you have status

I don't get it
Would it be worth it to spend the money on points to get to the next tier(Diamond) faster before my trip?
Perhaps in some situations, but I'm not sure
bonus points don't count towards your status. only base points do
Thank you so much. Super helpful video !!!!
You're welcome!

No definitely not. This is a similar email that I received here 1:10

Goes a long way.
