Drop king/progression 1: teacher at kitchen, student at baseline. Student self feeds a third shot drop from a bounce. Teacher attempts to volley, student attempts a drop so good that it bounces and can’t be volleyed. A point is awarded to the student if it bounces, to the teacher if it’s volleyed (and the volley is in). Missed drops are redos. Drop king/progression 2: same as 1 except the teacher feeds the student for his third shot drop. Drop king/progression 3: Same as 2 except the student serves (a high % serve, not attempting to ace). Teacher returns the serve, alternating top spin and back spin and alternating hitting to the student’s forehand and backhand. Missed serves or returns are redos. Variations: no redos, ie award a point on any blown shot; vary odd/even court positions of student and teacher; teacher practices Ernes on drops to the far sideline. Hat tip: Tyson McGuffin two-day pickleball camps. 👍🏼
And James 4:6 ". . .God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." When you get prideful, you get another opponent. And He's invincible! So yeah, it's a real thing.

You’re missing 2!😊
You may blame it on your dad, but the concept comes from scripture. Proverbs 16:8 Pride comes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.
