Excellent presentation for docking. Simple to the point and the overhead shot allowing us to see the motor improved teachability. Picture is worth a thousand words. Thanks
Now to practice this with my 14 ft boat outboard motor with no steering wheel. I can’t shift, then give power, once it’s in forward or reverse, it’s moving. I was having a hard time, but youve given some tips that might help give me some finesse
Yes, I suppose you could do it that way but I prefer to run the bow of my boat into the dock and then slam it into reverse and back into the boat behind me. It really makes a statement that you are a serious boater.
Water currents take practice. Buy fenders. And for gosh sakes have a plan with your mates on board before you come in. Get the lines ready ahead of time.

Could you do a video about pulling a single outboard boat into a slip in a tight basin? That would be super helpful
Sure thing! We will try and get after that in the next few weeks!

thats simple but
show us with 15K winds off the dock
Ha and a crowded dock- I don’t see one other boat on that dock. The concepts are correct though.
Ahhh, Coast Guard rule - kill switch lanyard must be pulled if no one is at the helm....effective April 2021....edit: for boats under 26 feet....
Correct! Thank you sir. This video was filmed in early 2021.
That was not helpful lol
Nice vid 👍
Only comment is that if you're teaching newbies, maybe wear a life jacket/preserver so it might stick in their memories.
That is a really good point. Thank you! Have a great weekend.
