    Thank you Lazer!! I spent almost one hour to watch this 14-minute long video. Because you taught me something more than music: it's to control the things you can and leave room for some mistakes which could create amazing things. It's just the wisdom not to be a perfectionist. A year ago I got to know your song Time to Pretend when I was suffering from anxiety and it really gave me support. Today I'm trying to make my own music and click into this video. So amazing to meet you here! 😊

      Hey There! I want to thank you to be such a loyal fan and I am so happy that you learned something from my video :) I am no pro by far, but comments like yours mean the world to me! And happy i can teach some things that I had to learn over the years as well ❤😅
      And I suffered from anxiety as well - my medicine is making music. And that my songs got you through that hard time, that means more to me than any success in numbers! Thank you!

      Thank you! That is my main goal - not to sound like anybody or anything else. Which sometimes, I manage to to better, sometimes I don't. Creating a unique style takes time and sometimes, it also takes some lack of skill and workarounds to achieve that by accident and incorporate that into your music :)

    Thanks man. Just got into production and synthwave is def 1 of the genres i want to make , and i learned a lot of ur video how you can construct it. Especialy the 1st song im gonna make is importent to me cuz i want to send it to my dad to hear it. He played synthesizer music when i was a kid in the 80s and i dont think he is aware of this genre , a super 80s synth song in modern time, but im sure he love it.

  • @BoomgateProductions

    Thx for this upload! Nice to have an insight like this. I wonder, the layers you make, is that in a track stack or in separate individual tracks? I always use Ultrabeat and Logic stock drum synths to make beats... do you use external drum software? If so, is there any you recommend for this type of music?
    Sorry for all the questions, in any case thx 😊

    • @lazerboomerang
      @lazerboomerang  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hey! Thanks for the kind words. And no worries, I love giving feedback and help fellow musicians. ♥
      About my Layers:
      I layer individual tracks and put them in a group stack. The big part of processing is done on that group, which glues it much more together and if I hear issues or want to change something, I go back to the individual layer. If I am happy with it, I bounce the whole thing to have only one Stem for the mix.
      I rarely use drum machines, except for a linn drum vst (and I plan to get an analog one soon). I produce my beats with single shot samples that I created myself, so I have more control. For example, I get a Snare from Splice and start to change that one, play around with the decay, the EQ and the sound and maybe layer a second or third snare beneath it. But I actually place every single hit myself and automate it to make it more natural. It takes a little more effort, but in the end, you have way more control. But that is the way I do it - I'm pretty sure there are better or faster ways 😆 😆
      I hope that helps. If you have other questions, I'm happy to make a video about that.

    Do you use headphones to create and mix the tracks?

    • @lazerboomerang
      @lazerboomerang  6 месяцев назад

      I often use headphones to create tracks. For me, getting the low end right is easiest with headphones. And I tend to work a lot in my homestudio, so I can't really produce too loud while my kid is asleep ^^
      But I mostly mix on monitors, my KRKs which I have for years and my Genelec near field. And I always check it again on headphones and an old tapedeck, just to get the sound right. If the song sounds good on my crappiest speakes, it mostly works on good ones :)

    What bass is that in serum? Name? Much love

    • @lazerboomerang
      @lazerboomerang  Год назад +1

      Hey! It is not a preset. I built this Bass with a couple of layers. The lead bass is easy to build:
      You start with the initial sound in Serum, both Oscillators on Sawtooth, OSC A -1 Octave and Unison 1, Osc 2 0 Octave and Unison 16.
      Then you put a Cutoff (21hz) on the second Env 2 and play around with the decay (around 1.8 to 2 ms sounds pretty fine to me) and the sustain around 71%.
      Then you put a distortion on that bad boy, some EQ to taste and voilà. If you have any further questions, just hit me up on Insta.
