    Thank you for your detailed review! We are so glad that you enjoy the build quality, battery life and features offered of the Jabra Elite 85h! Please be sure to update the firmware on your Elite 85h through the Sound+ app. We just released a new version on April 30th which increases volume and addresses ANC and other minor challenges.

      Jabra, are there plans to offer these headphones at any other places besides Best Buy? Our local Best Buy doesn't even have a setup where one can listen before buying.

      Jim Thomson I asked best buy when are they going to have it on display but the guy on best buy said that it’s up to the vendor (jabra). They are hoping more people would blind buy it because of the way they advertise the product.

      I've been thinking about picking these up because I can get a great discount through my work. I'm often in the gym and I'd like a pair of over-ear headphones for the gym. How will these perform and are they durable enough for the gym? I don't sweat too much and don't perform any crazy movements that would physically harm them. You guys advertise that they're water-resistant, so would these be better than for example Bose quiet comfort 35?

    I got the Bose QC 35 II and I was getting a big ear fatigue because of the lower part of my ear not fitting in the ear cup.
    Tried Jabra today for most of the day and they fit much better. Much more comfortable for me than Bose, which was very surprising to me. I've made some calls for work and they do sound better than bose since you can hear more of your own voice, plus it's adjustable in settings. You can get a similar effect with more expensive bose 700 though. When it comes to noise cancelation I'd say it performs similarly to wh-xb900n. So not great but you can definitely notice a difference.
    If you don't need top notch noise cancelation, have quite big ears and need to use it for work, it's a pretty good pair of headphones. I just couldn't go with Sony since they can't connect to two devices at a same time - makes no sense for work use.

    9/4/19 Firmware (1.4.1) adds AAC support. Improves other things.

  • @MrScarfaceX
    @MrScarfaceX 5 лет назад +6

    These headphones will get better as Jabra keeps updating the firmware. The firmware update on 4/30 increased the volume and tweaked the ANC. I'm hoping for AAC support (added to the Elite 65t) and tweaking of the multiple point feature (2 devices at once) to prevent signal conflict drop outs (2 devices sending signals that cause a momentary drop out). Actually AAC and maybe APTX would probably fix the audio drops when 2 devices are connected. It did on the Plantronics backbeat 2 when I had a Mac and an iPhone connected at the same time on those headphones.
    I have a big head, and the fit is fine (although I don't have hair.....lol).
    Also, the issue will Hearthrough and sudden loud noises was address in the firmware update on 4/30.

    Definitely not big head approved. I bought these and wore them every day for 2-6hrs each day just to give them a fair chance. I had them all the way out, and they just did not fit my bulbous head right. It was like a vice grip on my temples after an hour or so. I could also feel the bottoms of my ears being pulled upwards. I really wanted to keep them, but it just didn't work out. I know they can work out many other things via firmware updates, but they can't work out the size of the headphones that way unfortunately.
    So I switched to the 1000Xm3 and holy dogs! These are literally the first pair of wireless over the ear cans that i've been able to wear comfortably. I even had to put the headphones up one notch. They're actually bigger at their biggest notch than my head! That is truly a first for me. I am glad the 1000Xm3's fit me, because yeah, they are just better overall. The ANC on those is everything everyone says it is and then some. Put on your favorite song or some white-noise app for concentration, and you wouldn't hear the apocalypse if it was outside your window.
    I'm still pulling for Jabra, because I love their E65t's, but this first try in the ANC over ear category is a solid 3rd place. Maybe next time.

    Loud enough. For me the question isn’t whether modern music is loud enough. The issue is when playing older music that hasn’t been remastered and the levels are low. This is where the Sony’s can get loud enough whereas the Bose do not. And I’m guessing the Jabra doesn’t get loud enough either.

    First of all, I love the language you use. You sound intelligent. Second, doesn’t bose turn up the base on their devices? I’m not sure how exactly songs are supposed to sound. Would you do a video comparing the sound quality of the current top end headphones? (As you can tell I have Bose headphone (the qc35s) and don’t know if I’m getting good sound quality or not)

    • @TheGamingAudiophile
      @TheGamingAudiophile 5 лет назад +1

      The QC35’s is quite neutral. So basically bass, midrange and treble is relatively equal in volume on the Bose. The Sony’s crank up the bass in its default sound, but you can adjust them to sound however you want with the EQ inside of the Sony Head Connect App.

The only thing i do not like the about the headphones you reviewed is the fact that there is no headphones jack on the headphones so when the battery is totally dead that’s it you can’t operate the headphones anymore that’s the deal breaker. I have 85h and anker soundcore life q20 (44Euro on amazon.de), but I will return Jabra and keep q20.
    I listen a lot of music, different genres and I could not tell any difference between 85h and q20 with anc on. q20 without anc sound has a little more bass, on some music it is nice in others it is ok. 85H has an equalizer on android and mac you can change a little bit how they sound but I could not say that there is a big difference. Call quality including noise suppression was very similar. ANC and passive isolation was a little bit better on h85. For me anc does not make a big difference in the end I can hear the voices around me but they are more soft. The only think that I missed on q20 was the possibility to pair 2 devices. For me both are comfortable, I think 85h fits better on smaller heads and I have the impression that my ears are a little bit hotter with 85h.
    I would like to hear a sony or a bose to see the differences.

    But they're definitely medium head approved.
    I find them more comfortable than Sony 1000XM3 with their spacious earcups which presses evenly around the cup - many fails here and even the Sony has slightly more pressure at the upper part. The headband is nice too as it rests on a larger portion of you head so I don't have to constantly reposition - Sony is not perfect here either.
    Sound quality is very nice with clear deep bass too. It's clear deep bass as on the neutral side so it may not be for bass heads (unless they play around with the equalizer). ANC however could be a little better. Especially in the low end and with ANC on and it's playing some very specific sounds at lower volume there's some clearly digital artifacts going on. Not a big deal as it's rare but now I've noticed it.
    Things I'm neutral about is the ear detection. I don't use it because I also listen to a lot of (mostly voice) radio and that I just want to play instead of pausing and then you're behind (yeah annoying the app doesn't have a setting whether to ignore pause or not). If there's something particular interesting I rewind in the app manually.
    Things I'm not the biggest fan of. Rotating earcup to turn on. Well it's OK it's there as long as there could be a manual slider so that if one of them indicated off then headphones is off. It's annoying to have to rotate one earcup to turn it off when using it for home and office use. Buttons on the side I'm not the biggest fan of either as you press inwards on the earcups. I'd much prefer traditional rim buttons instead.
    Wishes for firmware: Better low end ANC and second getting rid of the rare digital artifacts.Better ambient mode. Would be nice if there was an option on the ambient mode to focus on voice spectrum - that is cut out the lowest and highest frequencies. Of course a real DSP filter like on the Sony to focus on voice would be even nicer but that also requires much more processing power which it might not have.

      As an audiophile who owns some very expensive headphones, and knows what accurate, neutral sound is, I listened to the Sonys for about 15 seconds, put them down, and bought the Jabras. Bass on the Sonys is overemphasized and muddy. The mids are scooped. In a word, they sound awful. Bassheads who don't care about accuracy and detail might like the Sonys, but anyone who appreciates fidelity will prefer the Jabras.

    If the Sonys produced accurate, neutral sound, I would have bought them. Instead, they have grossly overemphasized, loose, muddy bass, and a scooped out midrange. They lack detail and presence. The Bose QC35s are old technology. I bought them, but returned them due to unresolvable Bluetooth issues - and Bose's horrible customer service. If sound accuracy is your thing, the Jabras are your best bet. If you don't care about accurate sound, and like a bassy, muddy sound, the Sonys will suit you.
