Very well done for a very simple uncomplicated test board. I suspect there are very few real life situations with such straightforward wiring. In an existing home, with wires in the walls, there are many more wires combined in the junction boxes. It can be very difficult to ID the travelers, the correct common, & even the load wires. Can you explain how DIY's can do so?

I have one switch that turns on/off the light. The other one is not. Do you know why and what is the solution to this. ?? I have done it exactly the way it’s shown in the video.

Why do you have the TV on while you're creating this video? It is equally as loud as your voice. It is very distracting and spoils any message that you have. I'm out of here.

Thank you for the video. I was wondering if you could make one with a 3 way configuration with a switch loop. I have two junctions that are switch looped and it’s a pain in the butt!

Will it work on a 4 way system

Does it matter which of the 2 smart switches carry the load?

Thanks for the info! Have you had any issues with one dimmer affecting the lights on a different dimmer (same model).
That’s what’s going on for me. I’ve got two sets of lights in our basement with, both on different circuits, and a 3-way setup in the hallway. When you adjust the dimmer on one, it will actually affect the lights on another; sometimes resulting in a very unpleasant flicker. Any thoughts?

Very helpful video, thanks! My existing 3-way wiring is different than this video:
1-) left-box has only 2-wire (hot line black & neutral white) AND 3-wire (travel 1 red, travel 2 black, & neutral white) , only 2 white neutrals connected.
2-) Light is in the middle (Load cable is red connected to lights cable black & neutral connected to lights neutral white)
3-) right-box has 3wire cable (traveler 1 red, traveler 2 black, and red cable)
Can I still use my current wiring to do 2 dimmers 3-way?

Awesome Video.. was wondering if you could demonstrate and explain how this would be connected in a 4 way switch situation. I have a long hallway and each of the 4 bedrooms has the ability to turn on the lights in that hallway from just outside the bedroom doors. I have one Feit Smart Dimmer installed in what I think is the first junction box in the line and the rest have regular switches ( not sure if these are 3 way or 4 way at this point). Of course, if I flip any of those off, the lights turn off which is fine. This is true except for the last switch, if I flip that one off the lights just dim etc. so I know something isn't right. The whole thing works now if I keep the other three switches up and just control the dimmer, but I'd like to make it right. I've got a couple of new Feit dimmers and some new 4 way switches ready to install but I'd really like to take this apart again only once and get it back together the correct way. House was built in 2004 so neutral wires are present. Much appreciated!

Could you comment if this wiring diagram would also work with 2 3way dimmers form TreatLife? They appear to be designed the same way. Thanks.

A few times you mention that the neutral wire is needed for the wifi functionality. Is this true? I only have a neutral in one of the two junction boxes. I don't need wifi control but would like to make use of the dimming functionality.

I don't have these switches installed so take this with a grain of salt but I can't imagine not connecting it to wifi would prevent dimming from working

The first set of switches were like you said, the load wire was not connected to any switch, it was in the box in the line side i sepearated it and that worked out fine, but this other set I'm trying to connect does not seem to have a seperate load wire, it seems to be connected to the switch on the load side and seems to be a traveler wire, its black. any advice ?

Same issue. My wire to the lights is in a switch opposite my main power line is in, so load and power from breaker are in different outlets. Power is being given to the load switch from the other 3 way sw. So if I shutoff that “dumb” 3 way switch I can’t control my “smart” dimmer switch. So if power is on one side but load is on the other do I still have to have 2 switches? And is this all still going to work even if I use 2 smart switches?

@marty use the traveler to pigtail off the power and feed the power to the other side to complete the circuit

If you use led’s make sure they’re dimmable led’s. If not, they’ll flicker when you try to dim them
