Thanks for this video, brother. I received my Phecda earlier this week and have been struggling with how to best center the image on the media. I wish that, when the framing butting was pushed, it would lightly show the lazer so you can see how close it is to the edges. Keep these coming!
I need a laser for shallow engraving on TPU. I'm leaning toward the 10W Phecda because the laser spot size is half the size of the 20W version and should result in finer detailed engraving in my low power application. I bought an Elegoo Neptune 4 Pro almost three months ago and it's way better than my other ten 3D printers, and that's why I'm leaning toward the Phecda even though it's Elegoo's first laser product. I'll build an enclosure and fume extraction system.
for the cutter i just slowed the speed down to around 20 speed, 100% power 3 passes to cut Basswood, i think 2 passes would be ok but a clean cut with no need to force the piece out i used 3 passes
May be you misspoke but at 3:23 the unit's are mm/s not %. So your not at maximum speed your simply at 100mm/s and the head can move much faster if needed.. say 200mm/s. Sure you've already realised by now though and have ran some test grids of cutting and etching over ranges of speed/power to get proper dialled in values. My tip is very regular cleaning of the lens cover as you can get soot and crud on it especially with no air assist. This crud absorbs the laser energy and gets really hot as a result and can pit or even crack the lens cover. A telltale sign of this is if it starts looking like you need to increase the power and/or slow the mm/s for the same material.
I have problem to cut mdf 15mm thick 30 passes still not cut thru or burn out and i also have problem the laser head keep dropping as well even i screwed it tight. do you have any advise on this? thank you.
Is there a “pilot” laser feature that turns on when framing for a better visual alignment. Aligning with just the laser module seems like a pain. Waiting for my unit to come in. Thanks for posting.
I read up on this a bit and it looks like if holding down “shift” when selecting framing function it will show the laser as well. If you don’t mind giving that a shot and updating us.
I just received my elegoo Phecda 10W two days ago. Can you tell me which version of the lightburn software should I purchase for this. I don't want the purchase the wrong software.
I have mine 20W. It isnt the best made system there are many cheap parts like the wired connections and just how the belts are put together. It was a bit more difficult to put together than I expected. The feet are a bit tricky to get the screws into. After the build was completed for the price I am very happy with the machine.
im a first time laser machine user, and this has so many wheels turning for what to do, im going to be making a slate coaster video, as ive been really loving how it looks on the slate, over all best choice i made getting one!
Hello. Quick question, did you install any driver or software before connecting the phecda to lightburn. I tried to connect mine via the usb port but lightburn wouldn't find the machine. I there a initial step I'm missing?
i really enjoy it! the more i learn about it the better everything is looking, 10/10 would recommend for a first time machine if your new or old to the laser cutting or engraving world
Has anyone had success using Inkscape under Linux and a plug-in to write a file that the Phecda laser can use without using Lightburn? I don't have a problem paying for software but my entire manufacturing software toolchain is open source and it'd be a shame to break that chain just to use a low cost laser for one simple engraving job.
6 months late - lol. But nothing stopping you from using Inkscape to create the artwork and using one of the free open source laser software that is out there. So much software that you pay for isn't worth what you pay for it. Lightburn seems in that category. It's a very 1990's draw program with an awful interface to link to a machine. I think in the next couple of years as more buy lasers, the software will improve and be more like 3D printing slicer software. You create the model/artwork somewhere else and just use a program that focuses solely on the laser dynamics. But who knows...

Get my 20W Phecda in October. So I appreciate this video as I've only done 3D printing, so I'm looking to be knowledgable by the time it arries.
Receive today the 10w
Thanks for making this video! I got my 20w in, can’t wait to use it.

Just received my 10w laser engraver and I wanted to find out how you added the laser cutter to lightburn as I am new to laser cutting.

Which version of lightburn did you buy. Is it the one using gcode controller?

ohhh, i was looking at the power % and thats why i said % outloud and no mm/s, my mistake!

I get my Phecda 20W next week. Going to be fun learning a new hobby on a new machine.
it has became a really great new hobby for my self, and im really happy with it! so many new tricks to learn
Thank you so much for this video!!
thank you for uploasding how to ....going to do my first laser print tomow, Phecda a pain to build.
I can’t get light burn to find my phecda any tips?

im not 100% sure, but i will look and check out any of the settings and let you know!
@@LowLos59 it does work! thanks for finding that out, was looking in all the settings and didnt see anything
Nice! Something less to figure out when getting started (hopefully)
Under device settings---click "enable laser fire button---set strenth to about 2%

What initial set up setting did you use? Mine arrived this weekend and I need to set up lightburn for the phecda.
i went to the facebook group who has the set up ready to download and add to the program, thats how i did mine
which FB group? Im in a few@@soulfunkbrotha
Is there a non Facebook link/download (don't have FB)?
@@soulfunkbrothalink of group? Please
thanks buddy
Waiting for my 20W in september. Are you happy with the overall design and build quality? Seems like a mixed bag for some early users.

i did, i joined the facebook group for elegoo phecda, and installed the file they had, then was able to read my machine
@@soulfunkbrotha Thx! is there a possibility that you can share this file? Thx
@richardpols3431 Elegoo sent me this Lightburn config file: drive.google.com/file/d/19IqaubjAgEkgmbaZaODt4OM4L10bK_Mz/view?usp=sharing
Thanks for sharing ! What do you think about the Phecda so far ?

I can't connect to my machine over USB with ANYthing over multiple computers... Only Microsd (and wifi) work...
i had to make sure on the right bottom side of the program that the device was reading on com3 for my USB plug, it was auto default onto COM1
Did you get the Gcode version of lightburn?
yes!
@@soulfunkbrotha is the Elegoo Phecda considered a Gcode machine?
