I don't blame Lamptey for his downfall. He was abused as a kid and taken advantage of by agents as an adult. Tragic story.
He must have done something wrong whiles growing up that gave him all those bad lucks. I've realized that in life, we need to do things that will give us good luck and those good lucks will help us in the journey of life.

@@heijimikata7181 When you are kind and don't get the blessings, it passes on to your children. I've seen a friend with an envious job, well paid and comfortable. He's a miser and wouldn't give anything to friends. Her mum was good to strangers and others. However, this guy is closer to the mum than any of his siblings. He's been helping the mum from childhood and at almost 50yrs, still taking care of his bedridden mum.
That ending was the best. This guy deserves to be happy. Glad he saw it through.

His story will make a great movie about hardship and perseverance. He deserves all the blessings in the world for what he went through in is youth.

I looked into that and it was true. That woman was wicked messed up. He had children that passed away(2) with her. Then as you very well know, she cheated on him and birthed 3 girls from another man or men. He knew something was not right and his girls were not his own and did a dna test on them and found out they weren't his. He divorced her and she sued for his apartment and other things and the judge denied her which was awesome, he would've lost here in the US I think. I know his alleged daughters hated their mother for that. So check out his ex wife's defense. She lied and said he couldn't have kids after their children's death and he asked or they agreed she could have children by another man/men. Apparently he could have kids. After he divorced her he remarried and had kids.

IIRC no African footballer was ever knighted, and only S.A. one was Pele.
There was one MBE for Eniola Aluko from Lagos, Nigeria. MBE for Raheem Sterling, from Jamaica. One for Shaun Goater, but he was born in British Territory, Hamiltion in Bermuda. And I think the oldest one(1965, Jan) was for Mohammad Anwar Elahee born in Port Louis, Mauritius.

As a Villa fan I was super excited when we signed Nii. I remember his three goals over two legs against Wigan in the Coca Cola Cup and thought we had a real baller. So sad to see what happened to the guy.

I remember him from the u20 World Cup. He was phenomenal at Anderlecht, I really wanted himto come to Marseille (my favorite club) but then he gradually disappeared off the map, I had no idea his story was so tragic.

For those of us who grew up in Ghana in the late 80s and early 90s, Lamptey in the U17 and U20 was the real deal.
They sold fake plastic football simply because it had Lamptey's name on it.
A shame how things ended for him...

Sad story, but I how was any mafia or anyone involved in his professional downfall? It seems the pressure got to him and his potential never materialized. There are so many similar stories of great kids that succumb to the expectations. It is still sad a great talent didn’t develop to become a football legend, but at least he got to achieve his dream of playing professional football at the highest level
