I remember the first time I played Twilight Princess, we were snowed in for like four or five days. My sister and I decided since we were out of school to plow through this game and it really made this level hit home. Sitting in the dark of the bedroom, the glow of the TV and wrapped up in a bathrobe for some added warmth since it was freezing outside. We should have been in bed, so the house was quiet. It was hard to tell if the wind was outside or in game, but the atmosphere felt like being transported. And once we got to the mansion, we decided maybe it was time for us to curl up in bed and let "Danny" (Link) have a break by the fire too.
I would think if not everyone most people definitely think so. It fits the area so well being soothing and eery. @Flymerick I to find the boss in this area to be one of my favourites.
Now, do you all legends remember where the howling stone was in the Snowpeak? You know how it's like a calm cliff view, and there's a warm light from the sun over the snow? Just think of sitting there facing the darkness below. Nothing but great memories fills my heart❤
As a kid, running from wolfos in the middle of that blizzard made me feel alive. How badly I hoped not to lose my way and freeze to death. In hindsight, the snowboarding segment shatters the tension, but I think my child-self needed the reprieve.
It snowed for the first time again this year. It looks like coming here on that day has become a tradition for me at this point. A lot has changed for me in this past year, and this song always helps me realize just how much I've grown over the last twelve months. This song truly has a much deeper meaning than most people realize. I hope that anyone else who read this is also able to find comfort in this song.
Do I even have to say it? It snowed again for the first time last night, which made for an incredible surprise this morning. This past year has been very difficult for me. So many things have changed, and I feel like things will never be the same. But I've grown a lot as a person in these past twelve months. And I know that no matter what, this song will always be here to remind me of the good times. Thank you Twilight Princess, and happy 18th birthday!
There's definitely something special about this one. The motif of Hyrule Field plays faintly, almost reluctantly, eluding to the sheer isolation of Snowpeak Ruins from the rest of Hyrule. It stands as a nice contrast to the high-energy themes of Hyrule Field, Gerudo Desert, and Goron Mountain...or even the uplifting themes of Zora Domain and Lake Hylia. This is...monotonous and minimalist. Quiet. Empty. Mysterious. Time almost seems to have stopped on these peaks.
It's funny you call it the motif of Hyrule field, I think it's just the main theme at this point considering nearly every song in this game uses that motif
@@hylianro Hyrule Field is the central region of Hyrule that leads to all of the prominent locations of the kingdom, so it makes sense that a motif for Hyrule Field would be representative of Hyrule itself, although many songs and character themes in the game don't use it.
You gotta wonder with Zora's domain so close by, and this frozen lake, could this have been where Jabu Jabu used to be in the times of Ocarina? If you follow the right path you go towards the Snowpeak Mansion and a number of other questions. Looking to the left, you see a river flowing out of the lake basin through the gorge to who knows where.
It makes me want to walk through the woods on a cold winter day, alone, with nothing but the somber winds of this song accompanying me. Weird, but it makes me feel a sort of uneasiness, and I like it
I remember as a kid when I used to live in upstate New York I used to play this song when there was a blizzard. My bed was on the 2nd floor and right next to the window and I would have a view of the backyard and forest from where I looked. I would just play this song laying in my bed looking out the window usually to help me sleep when the snow was raging at night. It would bring a sense of isolation and loneliness, but also comfort that I get to experience this moment. I live more south now and I haven’t seen snow in years, but listening to this piece will always bring me back to that moment, where everything was still and I was ok. Still one of my favorite songs from this game.
Very few people will get to experience such a wonderful game nowadays. My brother showed me this game when I was only 3, so now I will continue the legacy by showing this game to everyone I can from this generation. BOTW doesn’t hit the way OOT, MM, TP, WW, etc hits.

I've always loved yet also hated this part of the game. The gentle yet sorrowful music combined with the wind and snow is just perfect, but the wind went away after I beat Snowpeak Ruins, and the sorrowful aspect of the music no longer fit the atmosphere.
I don't think the blizzard dissipating ruined the music/atmosphere tbh. If anything being able to see that barren wasteland that is snowpeak is pretty ominous
