I needed to vent about all of the niche fanmade stuff I've seen online over the past 14 years or so.

I wrote and recorded this video well before the Stoopid Buddy Studios' 2016 Anti-Union Documents were leaked online last week. Had I known, I most likely would've made the video another 6-ish minutes longer, talking about how film companies are also apart of the problem with the "decline" of stop motion animation.
Robot Chicken is one of my inspirations to pursue stop motion animation
I am also influenced by other stop motion works and channels too
Sort of related, but I related so much to your dialogue about being embarrassed to make stories with toys as videos. Around 2010/2011, I used to watch plush videos (like SuperMarioLogan or Cute Mario Bros, not sure if you’re familiar) and was amazed that normal people were just making their own stories on their own time with stuff they had around the house. But I was also old enough that I’d get made fun of for liking toys at school. So while I always wanted to make some of my own (and eventually did), I would never upload them to RUclips, being worried kids at school would find them and make fun of me.
Similar thing actually happened around my middle school years with, coincidentally enough, stop motion Lego videos. I loved forestfire101’s Lego Batman series (he’s mostly known for making The Duck Song, but he also did Lego stop motion vids) and also saw the Lego Movie around the same time, kindling my interest even further. And while I did make a few animations with a cheap iPhone stop-motion app, I was still afraid to show them to people.
I wish I understood at the time that school, popularity and ridiculing were issues that were unimportant in the grand scheme of things, and that I’d eventually get over it as I got older. But in the moment, man it was a hard thing to overcome.
At least I don’t care about that stuff now.
I love forestfire101 and SuperMarioLogan. Glad to hear that you eventually made your own videos!
This video is great
