- A powerful group of lions, the Nsefu pride, are busy digging into a recent buffalo kill when they are disturbed by a herd of elephants. Both sides immediately switch to high alert.

Imagine being so big and powerful, you can scatter a pride of lions like a bunch of alley cats.
It is rare to see animal that’s actually got a good heart and have a sense of empathy even not for his own kind but for different species

It didn't have any empathy whatsoever it was clearly showing a display of how dangerous and violent it is that it will even attack them while they eat. It even rubbed itself into their food.
@@dunner079 after watching it again. What make sense to me is elephant scared the lion away and rubbed against the dead body to check if its still able to move or alive. As soon as it realize its too late then it backed off. The bottom line is If elephant is carnivore or seriously wanted to eat meat there is no way these lion can get any of that when elephant comes at u. And no one says elephant is not capable of being aggrssive or violent. They can be peaceful or violent as well and with good reasons for being in the wild. However what u say that is worth thinking about is. Maybe is not empathy maybe is hatred since elephant always sees lion picking on the weak and small. As their young elephant can be targeted so elephant sees lion as enemy. So hatred against lion or empathy. Take your pick. Whatever it is. There are countless other cases and stories showing animals do have signs empthay and emotions. But is it certainly in this case? I cant be 100% but i like to think there is a good chance that it is.
@JC.72 I think you just antropomorphising the event and just want to beleive the elephant isncaring for the welfare of another species when in fact this elephant is clearly making a violent charge towards the lions as a sheer display of domination. You just want to humanise animals so you can feel better.
@JC.72 The bit abkut the young elephant that you mentioned is true for sure. This is correct. The rest about humanised animal welfare and the elephants wanting us all to be children of the universe to make you feel better is a well meaning fantasy. But a fantasy nonetheless.
the elephants are peace keepers of the wild, she ran over to see if the animal was still alive and when she said it had already died she left the lions alone

I think she felt the pain and trauma that buffalo went through ,even though it was not an elephant.Elephants have high levels of empathy.

Wrong, Lions are the top predators in the world after humans, remember we don't wanna debate about one on one strength, what we should consider is who is the prey and who is the predator.
Lions often hunt elephants, not necessarily full sized ones but there have been instances.
No animal hunts lions except for humans.
Elephants do have empathy for other animals but I think the reason why she did that to the buffalo is to make the lions be aware that they shouldn't mess with her and their herd. She's too brave to make a warning, truely a queen💚
Elephants are intelligent enough to know there crazy strength they posses. They defiantly show that in advance so potential predators don't disturb there young ones .
And it was apparently the theirs time they ran into that Pride. She left a message for real. Lucky for those lions the young male wasn’t larger.

But they weren't messing with her, it was the total opposite of that. She was the rude granny that ran over to another family's table throwing a tantrum while they were sitting there eating and ignoring her and her family.

Traditionally the lion has been crowned king of the jungle, but when one observes a lion and elephant encounter in the African wild it is clear to see that king lion has a healthy respect for elephant.

It was pulling on the buffalo to help it get up but then realised it was dead.

Wow, looks like those elephants have gone through some things. One is missing half a trunk. Others have brokeb tusks.
Elephants making sure that wasn't one of them being eaten. Since it was a buffalo and not one of them they went about their business.

Yeah, that's the explanation I'm leaning towards too. If any lions come after any of her babies, she's going to make it impossible for the lions to live there. She's showing the lions that she has the power to do that.

I think elephants have a lot of empathy. They distressed by the sight of another life lost. They have no idea its the circle of life.
They do know it's the circle of life. They just know better than the lions when it comes to maintaining the survival of many.

Did anyone notice that the elephant was Tuskless? I think her behavior was showing the lions that if they got too near to her babies that she would squish them with her head also just like she did with the buffalo! It was a warning.
I said the same thing. It was clearly warning the lions that she would crushed them if they came close. I saw one video where the narrator said if elephants feels threatened they show off there powers and strength as a warning sign to back up.

The baby elephant is in mortal danger that's why they are so nervous. Although there is a pride of lions that specialize in hunting elephants even grown elephants the grown ones really have nothing to fear.

Elephants are know to hunt down lions. They are the only predators that have killed their calves. If it’s a mother with cubs alone, the risk is even bigger as the cubs are easy targets and the no they can not stop 6-8 tons of an angry beast.
