I've always thought they were 2 sides to The Offspings music, most of their stuff was fast and fun, but there was always a darker edge to some of their songs, and then there was songs like this. This is one of my favourites, love it.
I think it's the opposite, most of their songs are actually heavy and dark, but they include a couple of light poppy radio songs on every album to expand their reach
I have never heard this sung as well as it was when the Offspring came to Melbourne, Australia the year this was released... Dexter sang so well, my goosebumps had goosebumps
I played Americana first time one day that I was waiting the bus and when this song showed up, I knew I would be listening the offspring for the rest of my life.
The Offspring is one of those rare breeds where their music sounds great on CD but When you hear it live it sounds SOOOOO much better. Most other bands its the complete opposite. I still love them. My favorite is Self Esteem.
I had Americana on today for the first time in ages. I'd forgotten how great Pay The Man sounds, and it just blew me away. Awesome song, from an awesome album.
The should make a DVD with this song performed live, this is probably the most awesome song from The Offspring, and the louder you play it, the better it sounds.
My top 1. Ixnay on the Hombre 2. Ignition 3. The Offspring (self titled) 4. Smash 5. Americana 6. Conspiracy of One 7. Splinter 8. Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace. Any favorite Offspring songs?
@masteredd23 The mexican thing (Pretty Fly Mariachi Version) was an easter egg song hidden a minute after the end. It wasn't part of the song. It was hidden on the same track at the end of the album
@DJofSWE Good selection! Its imposiible for me to find a favorite but I really love Nitro(Youth Energy), Americana, Crossroads, I'll Be Waiting, Dirty Magic, Get It Right, Forever and Day, and Leave It Behind...just to name a few. :D I also know how to play every single song on those albums for guitar.
It is turkish sounding because it is in a Diminished key. Most of their music is in a diminished key and musically speaking, is not easy to play. Their ability to play so well together is remarkable, and they are true musicians.
Haha! I remember singing this song in the middle of class in THIRD GRADE!! Then all of my hip-hop-loving classmates told me to shut up. Oh well, fuck them, right? This song kicks so much ass and will always do so.
System Of A Down (Toxicity, Hypnotize, Forest, Needles), Tool uses a oriental-like rhythms (Schism, Forty Six & 2), Soundgarden (Flower, Half), Metallica (Wherever I May Roam), Dream Theater (In The Name Of God), Led Zeppelin (Kashmir), Joe Satriani (Lords Of Karma). I know a lot more softer "oriental rock songs", but I'm not sure whether you'd like them...
in my opinion, this is the best song in Americana album
in my opinion is she's got issues, but this song is awesome!!!
u r right
Certainly the most complex. For some reason it’s my favorite too. Definitely prog-rock or symphonic.
It might be the best they ever did
@@blakemaster2000 It's up there with Queen, Yes, Rush, and Pink Floyd.
The most delicious song, this album mark a generation 👌

I want this song to play at my funeral.

The Offspring rocks!
I played Americana first time one day that I was waiting the bus and when this song showed up, I knew I would be listening the offspring for the rest of my life.
Would have loved to have heard an entire album of "The Offspring goes Metal" during their 90s run.
ever notice on Inxnay and Americana, they use the hidden tracks from Smash for full songs?
The best pop/punk band of all time, no question, cos they actually had songs you could consider punk.
Also I think it's the best song of americana but I ' ll Never think other person think like me. .
A lot of awesome songs on Americana - this one took me by surprise. I’d never heard anything like it. Never have since.
OMG this is heaven.
this is one of their bests ones, I go crazy when the punk part starts!!!!!
The Offspring is one of those rare breeds where their music sounds great on CD but When you hear it live it sounds SOOOOO much better. Most other bands its the complete opposite. I still love them. My favorite is Self Esteem.
This song is a MUST in any punk festival

@masteredd23 The mexican thing (Pretty Fly Mariachi Version) was an easter egg song hidden a minute after the end. It wasn't part of the song. It was hidden on the same track at the end of the album

best song on the album, as far as music complexity goes.
i hope when they start touring again, when I finally get to see them that they'll play this song.
it's a psychadelic mindfuck of badassery

It is turkish sounding because it is in a Diminished key. Most of their music is in a diminished key and musically speaking, is not easy to play. Their ability to play so well together is remarkable, and they are true musicians.

1.Beheaded

@NNailbomb really? We're all entitled to our opinions but No Brakes, Americana, Have You Ever and Walla Walla are great songs IMO.
yes i realized, that the lyrics is the same, but i though they're take that part to the end of the pay the man for a fun.
@rem1208 Ya man, it was 8th grade for me. But it was definitely up there w Dr. Dre at the time. I love both, but this song is great to listen to.
my life is for me nowwwwwwww
the song is amazing beyond words. and for music with oriental/balkan touch I'd recommend Kultur Shock. look them up!
Haha! I remember singing this song in the middle of class in THIRD GRADE!! Then all of my hip-hop-loving classmates told me to shut up. Oh well, fuck them, right? This song kicks so much ass and will always do so.
Sounds like a fucking acid trip! Great song especially when the bass kicks in lol theres bubbles i need to get back to work hehe
Might be my favorite from Americana.
phrygian mode is the best for guitar playing as this song clearly demonstrates.
1. Smash
2. Ignition Ixnay and Americana
3.Conspiracy of one
4.the Offspring
5.Splinter
6.Rise and fall rage and shit
