The Offspring - Jennifer Lost The War 1988
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 2 апр 2011
- Here's The Offspring from June 7, 1988 when they appeared on my public access tv show "Rockstock" performing the song Jennifer Lost The War.
a couple of things about this video:
1. This is NOT live, they lipsynced this perfomance to give us more editing options
2. I had some trouble sync my audio and video in some parts so it might look a little kung fu movie in some parts.
3. In hindsight we should have shot more than 4 angles but I seem to remember being under a time crunch. Anyway, I wanted to share this rare clip with the public, enjoy!
Back when Dexter was the best student of the Cobra Kai dojo.
I thought the same HAHAHA xD
This made me lol
Lets go Jhonny xd!🤘🏻
you sir are the best
Jajajajajajaja
Such a recognizable voice!!! Long live Offspring
He has such a great voice
This footage is crazy! Noodles was only 56 years young here
😂
Lol
35 years later still one of my favorite Offspring songs
2024
Dexter definetly lookin like a typical late 80s cali kid
me too
;)
kuma138 Yup. Loving this
He just looks like a late 80s kid in general, it is exactly my recollection of what the older junior high and high school kids looked like in 1989
TOO cute hahaha
He looks exactly like my dad when he was around that age but with blonde hair instead of red.
Here we see the beginnings of the famous Greg K. bass sway.
I thought Noodles was Greg first, And was thinking wow he is really feeling playing I do not think that is Greg, then I saw the six strings and it all made sense lol
😂😂 Facts
Dexter just knew what he was doing right from the beginning (they all sound great) but man, his voice sounds bloody brilliant - particularly because he looks so young here as well
in my opinion its one of their best songs
No doubt
It was the first song of theirs i heard and i agree, definitely one of their best. I do prefer the album version over this though :P
This entire album is overlooked 100%, especially this song
@@halfsleepertv it was on Punk-0-Rama, was not overlooked
I completely agree.
OC punk. This was a one camera shoot and we shot several takes. I remember asking the band if they were going to fly in a tour about to start and Brian saying, "This is punk, we're not Bad Religion." Good times.
would love to see that interview
Tell me more, where did the music recording come from?
Live in the city of Orange. Some of my friends went to La Serna high school
unimaginative stories about which it is impossible to remain silent
man this is gold...
I was then 4 years old kid in 1988.
The Offspring came familiar to
me in 1994. 👌😉
I discovered them back in 97 when I was 12. Changed my whole outlook on music.
Wow. They sound a lot better than I thought they would, considering how young they were.
About that.... He's lip-synching. Read the description.
***** Aw. Disappointing :/
cyric2010 Ikr. :\
moving your mouth to make it look like you are talking/singing, when the sound is actually coming from somewhere else.
I mean to be fair It's not like they were mega stars at this point so I doubt they could afford, in 1988, a rig to get a good live recording anyway. It's not like it is today where you can get stuff to get a good live recording for 500 bucks. Plus most bands lip sync their videos because of editing. I mean they could have been playing it and you just swap out the audio anyway. I'm not sure how many crisp recording there are of underground punk bands from the late 80's.
Some bands are legendary from day one. Its just the way it is. these guys got that blessing without a single doubt.
No doubt, always loved the offspring, one of my favorite bands ever. The Self titled album from 1989 and Ignition from 1992 are definitely overlooked, Smash, Ixnay, Americana, are killer records as well.
"Beheaded" was on this ( self titled album also!)
You're probably one of the only people in the world who would call The Offspring legendary. They were a good band. There were much better ones. That's it.
@@_Listen_to_Solar_Kama_Sutra LMAO. There are way better bands. Derp.
@derrickdurbin1334 a lot of way better bands. So many that the list would be too long. If you listened to more music you'd find them. It's not hard to do. You must be pretty young or not a big music lover.
Man, cannot believe I have never seen this before! Awesome to see such raw, and early, footage of this band, prior to them hitting it big with Smash in 1994 (even though I know they had 2 other albums out prior to that). Still love their Self Titled album, and especially, Ignition, probably even more so than Smash, but still gotta give it up for Smash, simply because Come Out And Play was my first introduction to this band. 1994 was a great f***ing year for music!!
cool as hell to see a successful band in their very early days.... always loved these guys! Very cool!
Круто ! Они играли , когда меня ещё на свете не было , но я их люблю с 8 лет
Yeah! I hope you already saw that Rage Against the Machine performance at their school.
This is one of the best Offspring songs ever and they would continue that... They write sad songs with upbeat music...
sounds a little bit as SLF
Damn, Ron Welty rocken a mullet!
This song never gets old, even if this video is from the year I was born 😂
The Offspring are certainly a top band with a huge place in music history 🤘
I disagree with everything you’ve just claimed.
@itsMrNoble you can't "disagree" with my birth year 🤣 that is a fact.
You can "disagree" with the rest of it.
Although music historians will tell you how important The Offspring were in the early days of the pop/punk/rock scene and it's growth.
But yes "this song never gets old" is entirely my personal opinion.
Dexter sounds great.
dexter looked so young
coz he was
22 at the time - this was recorded 4 weeks before my birth :D
1988
@@tomastoth4018 That's an old man if you're 14/15....I quit playing in a band at 23 cos I was too old....that was after playing in bands for 12 years!
I remember making a video like this with my band in highschool during a trip to Cedar Point amusement park. I could never imagine becoming a successful band and having it posted on RUclips 30 years later. What a trip life can be.
Do you have that video? Would be great to see
@@danielleaplaza2166 I do have it but I ain't posting it on RUclips. I get humiliated just thinking about it.
They are so young but they so clearly have it!
30 years ago.... OMG. Fucking GOLDEN video
I love Dexter's voice. So iconic. And a smart dude that went to school. Nerds can rock baby🤘
You have a tin ear... he can't stay on key.
smart dude? didnt they boot a member for wanting to maintain bodily autonomy?
@@TheKitchenerLeslie On key?...its punk rock. Would be weird if it was...
@@mb9543 No it wouldn't. Johnny Rotten sang on key. You're just making excuses for your tin ear.

I worked concerts for years and can say 100% The Offspring were the nicest guys with the best crew ever. We were treated like kings. They had a lady who had a golf cart who’d shuttle us around the venue so we didn’t have to walk and she had drinks and snacks for free. We got to hang out backstage and rub shoulders with the band. And end of show they gave us each $600 cash and thanked us again and gave each of us a t shirt. One of my best memories of 2018 tbh.
Then, Taylor Swift.. her team and father had some really strange rules and you got the vibe she thought very highly of herself.. and her “fans” were a parent, with five spoiled little girls behind them on their phones being awful.. “dad, tell the guy I want to see all seven shirts in medium and small”
I never did a show for her again lol. To
Só, to an artist tô be Cool, the artist should wanna be your friend? Lol You ARE There for a job....Just do your job. TS its 100 times bigger than Offspring ever was even in its Peak, imagine How extensive must bê her Day? Imagine....
The voice is traveling tru time. Never change
great lyrics
Offsprings first album best ever
My best friend is Ron's Brother. I had a copy of the Nemesis Records original release on tape and must have worn that damn thing out. I remember them jamming in Ron's Garage while we skated out front.
Tien_Gouki must have been a great memory!
Woah..
Where is Ron now?
@@user-cs4bp5me5h He is just enjoying life. His Brother and Him are working on some music together
Awesome!!
I remember hearing this one one of the first Punkorama albums and immediately fell in love with this group.
gotta love that mono sound !! cant wait for 2020 album !!!! 8 years we're waiting guys !!!!
Won't be one in 2020.
Совсем пацаны, но все по-взрослому уже!
Глотка у Холанда уже ревет! 😉
Музыка моей молодости, гуд!
es una joyita... tremendo aporte!!!
Some dope shot right here
Wow ! Original line up ? Great to see , saw them in Birmingham couple weeks back they were amazing!!!!
Not completely original, but an early lineup. James was the original drummer in the Manic Subsidle and early Offspring days, Kevin (Noodles) wasn't original either but not sure when he joined the band. It's really interesting how shy Greg K was back in those days too.
The offspring was kickin asses since 1986, no doubt that they was born to be a great punk rock band 👊
Americana was their last so called good album.
@@penkodimov RAFRAG was good tio

Jennifer lost the war.
Killed by John Kelly (her mother's 'boyfriend', back in 1986, in the summertime in Pointe Claire, Quebec, Canada--where this very song was actually written.
Rest in Peace, little sweetheart.
Love,
Ian.
Devil's Offspring That's the actual story to this song? I've never really known how this song was written/what it's inspiration was, but I'm curious
@@idk2224 Wow, it's been a while, but yeah--as you've probably guessed by now, I have no evidence. But let's just say I was there when this song was being written, and so was my little friend Jennifer and leave it at that. This song isn't about Jennifer herself (my friend), it's mostly fictional.
Anyway, this song and video are actually older than 1988 because I watched the video on TV with Jennifer herself beside me on the sofa, and she was murdered in 1987.
The Offspring 4ever punk rock

Tranquilo Cesar, Al final los Saicos jamas fueron los padres del Punk, solo eran Rock and Roll de los 60s como otros mas.
lol
Definitely made my day.
I've always been obsessed with this one Fucking song! Fucking dexter always had a great Fucking voice. Fuckkk ya!
You made my night. Love Offspring from my time I heard them .
This was a gem! Thanks for sharing.
They sound GREAT!
it's playback and lipsync, dimwit
Wow, his voice never change.
Jibba jabba aside, isn't this a fucking great-sounding song, even after 30 years?
dang was the offspring already that catchy back than..? and Dexter had already his unique voice ... im stunned
just saw them yesterday first time in Las Vegas and decided to time travel to the past :) thank you for sharing
Still Rocks Today!!!!! Love It!!!
Dexter Holland is the most beautiful man in the world but idk what he was thinking with this hairdo. Great video!
It’s not bad
my left ear is satisfied
Рыжий из «Иванушек» бесподобен !

NO WAR NO PROBLEMS NO FUTURE
Great band!
My left ear really enjoyed this.
wow, so nice video and song !!!
Absolutely Kenneth Parcell! Glad to see I wasn't the only one noticing that.
0:36 sounds like the song "I want you bad" for a second
He's wearing a Descendants shirt! YES
ahhh they were so good
My uncle saw The Offspring @ CHEXX in Santa Fe Springs, CA, of all places, backinnaday.
Thank you very much for uploading this video!
=)
Humble beginnings are always the best!
Great song, great message
Amazing
Anyone else noticed that Greg K was a kickass punk bassist in his younger years?
Now he's mostly along for the ride, sorry to say. But, the dude had talent.
Still love Greg!
Greg was awesome. Offspring was probably my favorite band for years after smash came out a lot of which was due to some pretty driving bass lines on their first 3 albums.
Unfortunately you can barely hear it on Smash... it's very low in the mix. It's all great stuff though
In which sense you mean kickass?
@@uglymusic2603 It's rather familiar expression!
My favorite band :)
Damn. Dexter was on point with pitch and everything.
It wasn't a live performance
Wow, they look and sound much better than at nowadays
Dexter is that you 😀
Love that Enema of the state pf pic Blink and the Offspring 👌🏾
Love this album, had no idea how young they were. One of the most under rated bands of all time.
How on earth is The Offspring in any way underrated?!?!
The Offspring underrated ?!😂😂😂 You must be very young. This band was on MTV and on every radio station 24/7 during the late 90s and early 00s.
The first album is massively underrated but they had a 10 year run of being absolutely huge, for about 5 of those years they were the biggest punk band in the world.
Is it me or this MTFNG thing sounds soooo wayyy better than now? jajaja what a footage thanks for sharing! btw my favorite offspring song!
Wow, so young. I always liked this song
Wow Noodles was really rocking out on that Fender Telecaster Deluxe guitar , back in the good old punk late 1980s :)
Wow!, so young!
Noodles seems an hippy!
happy. not a hippy.
bro this is great, reminds me of the alkaline trio show on halloween at the metro chicago...nostalgia all day....i was the guy in the front with the green sweatshirt lol
So young the lads! I love the ripped the shirt from Dexter to give that “ive just come from a fight” look 😂
Просто русский комментарий :) Это прекрасно! Лучшее видео, которое я когда-либо видела ♥

Oh my god Dexter is soooo young! ❤️
Jack McBrayer has always never aged
Este video vale oro.
Wow this is so cool to see
Ya en el 88 cobraban con eso que los hace especiales. Una de mis bandas favoritas de todos los tiempos.
