Despicable thing to do, it is so sad to see the hatred someone, especially a Canadian, has for cyclists! Definitely reckless endangerment at the very least!😡😡
I don't know what it vehicle/cyclist situation is like in Vancouver, but in Toronto cyclist activists have taken the city hostage. Traffic congestion has become unreasonable and vehicles are now banned from our largest city park, affecting access for so many people that the park is deserted. I'm not condoning the wire trap, but considering the amount of frustration with the cyclist activists and it was only a matter of time before something like this happened.
That's you're conclusion after seeing this event ? It's not a case of road rage after some potential traffic violation. This is a deliberate act to injure someone belonging to a specific group of the population on a cycle path that is separated from car traffic. This person had criminal intent. Not to mention that hatred of cyclists is a bigot's sport i.e. generally speaking those who deeply hate cyclists are the same who hate Black people, migrants and most of the time women. So please, don't give me that 💩 about mutual respect.
@@mikec3971 LOL. Get a grip. How have cyclists taken Toronto hOsTaGe? If you're talking about High Park (BTW not Toronto's largest park, that would be Rouge National Urban Park), vehicles are only prohibited from the park on weekends and holidays, they can still enter Monday- Friday. The park is much nicer without distracted drivers speeding around and not at all deserted. High Park is also accessible by two subway stations, two streetcars routes, bikes lanes and during the summer by a special TTC bus route that does a loop through the park. Using your grievances with cyclists to justify a malicious trap, which could have injured or killed a cyclist, is psychopathic behaviour.
@@Meyers1793 like I said, not condoning / justifying the cable trap...just not surprised. There is a group of people, predominantly senior citizens, lobbying Toronto city counsel to reverse the High Park vehicle ban on weekends (supposedly there is a push to ban vehicles weekdays as well). Reason being no access...for seniors and people with limited mobility. Also, families pushing strollers, dragging coolers and carrying grandparents don't want to take the streetcar and walk into the park from Lakeshore. Reality is that 90% of cyclists are riding laps around the park or simply ride through it...they don't cart their kids, coolers and pets on the back of their bike, or ride to the park for breakfast or lunch at the restaurant. The restaurant has reported 80% drop in sales since the ban. Thats enough to tell you who's using the park. And yes...reducing 4 lane arterial roads to 2 lane roads to accommodate a handful of cyclists, has put a chokehold on city traffic. A better solution would have been to go to a 3 lane system, alternating the direction of the centre lane (same as Jarvis) and dedicate one lane for two-way bike travel. Had they taken this approach, there would be an extra lane for the morning and afternoon rush hours and the number of intersections where vehicles are making righthand turns while cyclists ride through their blind spot would be cut in half.

this is extremely disturbing as a cyclist
It should be disturbing for everyone..... people who do things like that don't stop at bike lanes.
Then don't ride a bike. Someone probably did it because you idiots are always on the roadway where you aren't allowed. Smh

Exactly right. Only in this fcked up city where even cops don't wear cameras doesn't a major transportation hub not have proper security measures.
This kind of thing has been happening for many years across North America, but usually it wooded areas were bicyclists are fighting with hikers 😢
