I cry every time I hear this song. He is amazing and this song has so much truth and history to it. I can’t even begin to imagine the trials they went thru to just survive. ❤️‍🩹

Thanks for this! Most passionate version I've heard of this song. He seemed to be on amazing form in the mid 90s. I do like his gigs now though with Declan Sinnott.

They didn't bring the goods with them, those goods were shipped out of Ireland in order to starve the Irish, but you'll never beat the Irish

Not the goods they brought with them. The goods that the British took for themselves while the Irish starved!

I agree, I have been following Christie since the mid 80's and I've seen him live many occasions, both in the UK & in Ireland, though I have to admit, I lost touch with him and his music of late. He's a great musician and a personality to boot! I will try to post some more vids if I can get them.

I lived in Dublin for most of the 70’s. I got to see Christy many times when he was with Planxty.

When he lists the goods exported from Cork Harbour he mentions a produce I didn't understand. 347 barrels of ?? I hear a word sounding like 'weashens'. But that doesn't ting a bell. Is there anyone out there who underdtands what he is saying?
