I've not an Irish bone in me. But I love Christy Moore. Saw him years ago in the Albert Hall. Hairs on the back of the neck. His Isle of Man song I play every time I go to the Island.
Beautiful 💯, oh I miss my own, Family 👪 love ❤️ all. This is the seventh time listening to an, BRILLIANT and Wonderful version God bless Christy Moore ❤😮
Go Christy you legend! Shine on! How can three minutes draw tears and make you laugh AND cry at the end. Beautiful how he loves and supports Shane MacGowan.
Christy Moore, the only musician who never fails to make me shed a tear. Voice of an angel that keeps me company even as an Irish girl over in England.
hey l am australia l love this man..how can you not love the emotion in this song, god l love ya christy moore have seen in you in melbourne, my grand father nathaniel magee would have loved hearing u...god bless u all..
Love this version. What a tough year it’s been and this just makes you feel how lucky you are. RIP everyone that has been a victim to this pandemic. Hopefully 2021 is a better year for all
His voice runs through my soul and soothes me.....Christmas symbolises an awful lot to many people who are reminded of their losses and of course be grateful for what they have.....it's a hard time for many...bitter sweet time for me...
What a great song! Thank to Christy you for singing Shane's lyrics with with the passion and feeling like no one else could. Ah, but this song breaks my heart after all these years of dreading Christmas. For that matter the whole holiday season from Thanksgiving to New Years day is something I survive and (forgive me Lord) sometimes wish I didn't.
I must have been asleep at the base of a tree for a couple of decades...I awoke today to find Christy Moore's music. I've always wondered why Irish music and intrumentation gave me gooosebumps. There's something in my DNA I suspect. Christy Moore reminds me of what Studs Terkel would sound like if he had been a musician rather than a writer. My favorite version of an R.E.M song was performed by The Corrs, an Irish Band. Christy Moore can almost explain the meaning of life itself in his lyrics and voice. (Just by accident I live in a little community called "Moore" way down south.)
I love this version. When I heard christy Moore sing this live I thought it couldn't work (being sung by Kirsty and shane). Oh how wrong could I be. And as with every christy Moore song....He keeps you hanging on every word, a great man.
The melancholy, the dashing of hopes, the malignancy of selfishness in addiction, this song is brilliant. So evocative, brimmed with sadness, moves me everytime
Beautiful....the fact there such good friends makes it even more special. A fantastic song written and performed by fantastic artists. Wishing each and everyone of you all the best this Christmas and may 2023 be kinder to us all x
Shameful that Im from Newbridge myself and I've only ever seen Christy live just once! It was one of the best nights I've ever had and it was great to see that kids of all ages were in attendance to see such a great man. I remember getting a photo with him after and realising I was actually standing right beside the man himself and it remains one of my proudest moments in life to date
My first visit back to Derry after over 10 years (the first time) and my mother played this song for me. The effect was simply life changing. Every christmas is not the same unless we get this as part of our festivities
Fantastic Cristy is pure genius thank you for posting the brilliant man I am an Aussie who adores this bloke ,haven’t heard for some 10 years love it Cheers
Thing that the OG has is kirsty Maccoil playing the female part and Shane playing the male...this version he plays both....this one feels like real Republic Irish singing...but its not the same without Mrs Maccoll...God bless
I'm playing this myself around local open mics. I clicked this to see what other musicians did with it. I can't play it this well, but it is nonetheless most helpful and of course totally brilliant !
I had a good friend from Dublin (James Gallagher) gave me a cassette with Christy Moore songs in 1997. This song was on it. I was hooked. I’ve been a huge fan ever since! Greetings from Ocean City, Maryland, USA
RIP to the troubled genius Shane McGowan. What a song writer.

One voice, one guitar. love it.
I come to this every Xmas Eve.
Only heard Christie singing this track a couple of nights ago on ICMR and liked it. Hence why I'm listening now on RUclips 🤠
This was absolutely f**king incredible. It's the first version of this song I've ever heard that doesn't make me miss Kirsty McColl.
I've not an Irish bone in me. But I love Christy Moore. Saw him years ago in the Albert Hall. Hairs on the back of the neck. His Isle of Man song I play every time I go to the Island.
U looking to bone Milly? 🍺🤔
Christy...my God....I have never heard a better version ion my life. What a brilliant tribute!
Bon Jovi does a decent cover too.
He gives it his all always. Super cool man with a voice that's a national treasure. Well done 👏
From the heart ❤️
I return to this song every December. It’s a personal tradition.
Who`s here on this day 14th November 2022 listening to a Fantastic version of a True classic song ? beautifully played and sung by Christy Moore
I saw him in concert up in Nottingham decades ago and he performed this...I never forgot how great that; and he; was❤
Beautiful 💯, oh I miss my own, Family 👪 love ❤️ all. This is the seventh time listening to an, BRILLIANT and Wonderful version God bless Christy Moore ❤😮
I listen to this song once a year and its magical
The strong Irish accent with this song is quality
Mike Ross take Irish accent out of this song is tasteless
K-smi Sabu I'd agree with that 🇮🇪❤
Mike Ross well the original singer has no teeth what do u expect!?!?
A truly beautiful song💖. Christy from the heart.🏴🦄🇨🇮
A genuine national treasure. Love this man. Hairs on back of neck throughout but especially from 3.56 - 4.16 … the icing on the cake
Go Christy you legend! Shine on! How can three minutes draw tears and make you laugh AND cry at the end. Beautiful how he loves and supports Shane MacGowan.
This song always make me cry. Best performance ever.
Gosh I love his voice. Haven't listened to him in years and he's still just as pure and strong. Gorgeous.
christy is still alive
Christy......simply the best there is that's still doing it. God bless ya Christy.

Wonder how he's/she's doing now
A truthful man, you
He ain't no he/she.
Christy Moore is one of a kind -- no one sings with the emotion that he does; I love him.
One of my favorites, one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
I must have been asleep at the base of a tree for a couple of decades...I awoke today to find Christy Moore's music. I've always wondered why Irish music and intrumentation gave me gooosebumps. One of the best covers I have ever heard!
I'd just been listening to some Glen Hansard and this performance popped into my head. It's September and I hate Christmas, that's how good this is.
What a voice and Irish of course
Wow - first time I've heard this version. Unbelievably good.
Holy crap. He's a one man show. Lovely take on this song.
I love this version. When I heard christy Moore sing this live I thought it couldn't work (being sung by Kirsty and shane). Oh how wrong could I be. And as with every christy Moore song....He keeps you hanging on every word, a great man.
Incredible storytelling and incredible music. Christy's version always brings a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye.
Love this version I'm not Irish but love you people from Ireland ! You say it as it is ! Love the accent aswell
The melancholy, the dashing of hopes, the malignancy of selfishness in addiction, this song is brilliant. So evocative, brimmed with sadness, moves me everytime

In my opinion this is the best version of this song, Christy shows the passion this song deserves!
yeah its quite brilliant but I'm finding it a bit hard to move away from where it started
Ditto ❤🎉😢
Pogues by far superior
What an ode to humanity. What a voice. Best Christmas song ever.
Every year I come back here and its still the best version of this song outside of the original. Even more toyching this year!

I'm delighted that he covered this fantastic song. Two great generations of Irish artists blend together.
Shane mcgowan is English lol
What a passionate man, he gives it all, and its refreshing.
To me this is one of the best covers, and the best Tribute to Shane I could think of to play this sad morning. RIP Shane MacGowan
Thirty years ago. It's that old? Nice to hear another version, he has a good voice.
yes in the 80s
This was actually the first version of this song that I heard - for a while I honestly thought the Pogues had covered it. Still my favourite...
