Great review and comparison! I've always been a fan of Cleveland Wedges and I have used the CBX 50 and 56 with graphite shafts for the past year. They have been great game improvement wedges to match with my Qi irons. I've put a lot of time and practice into my game in the past 6 months and recently switched to the RTX6 52 and 58. The RTX definitely has a better feel and allows me to work different shots around the green with a bit more consistent execution.
Played Cleveland irons for over 20 years. Always had problems gapping. Finally said why not use Cleveland wedges? Used CG16 wedges, RTX 3 VMG, have finally settled on CXBX ZipCore 46, 50, 54, and RTX6 58. Prefer traditional wedge out of sand. 46 replaced Launcher XL PW. Better feel.Origanl CBX's were spinny, would balloon up. ZipCore's sorta solved that. Most reviews talk about full to pitch shots. Excellent for chips to fly greens or very elevated fast green.
I've got the CBX and they have also designed the club to full-send the flop shots which it is amazing for, everyone should also take that in consideration at all times ;)
I just bought RTX6 Mid 10. I have been using the black RTX3 for a couple of years and I love it. RTX6 was not better for me. It was not spinning more despite the ads. I hit the Vokey SM10 S Grind at the shop and I wish I bought that instead. The balance is much better.
Nice review! I play the CBX2 54-12d normal face and the CBX 58-10d full face. These wedges are what higher handicap golfers should be playing with rather than the bladed ones offered by the top brands. I don’t think you really get used to the full face….not for me! Both my wedges have the Dynamic gold 115g wedge shafts which are not extreme in terms of the normal heavier wedge flexes used on most premium brands! I think reviewers always forget to mention shaft choices which makes a big difference if your a graphite or a light steel shaft player!
CBX and RTX arent very different at all.. I have both in the bag and they both play the same.. cbx is just marketing for more sales , zero difference around tbe greens , ive played both at the highest of levels
I have the CBX2, 48, 52 & 56, very consistent and great confidence boosters
Great wedges!
Been using Cleveland 588's for years, love the feel of the face and reluctant to change, tried an RTX3 and did like the look.
Great wedges
