OMG! You are so blessed. I love turtles. I brought 7 from Missouri and Oaklahoma via airplane. Had them 2 yrs a d moved 250 miles to upper Calif. . Went on vacation and they all escaped. Broke my heart.
I ended up with a 35 yr old sulcatta tortoise that had escaped his enclosure and was hit by a car and was pretty much my rescues mascot and his name was Brutus. He had a large piece of his shell that was hanging off when I got him and I took him to the only exotic vet in town and he had to remove the 3"x4" piece and he had to get checkups and medications and covers replaced and we thought he was doing great and recovering and one day he started being very sluggish and I took him back to the vet and he had gotten an infection that eventually took his life too early 6 days later. I fell in love with this species even though they would be a multigeneration commitment but after having Brutus for that period of time I have tried to find another one. He was a big attraction to my predominantly personally funded freshwater aquatic animal rescue and would bring in lots of people who would eventually adopt an animal. I have not been able to find one from a reputable breeder for 9 months since we lost him and If you do a giveaway on one of these guys or girls and I won. You can bet it will have a forever home within my family until the end of its days living like a prince or princess. I like the redfoots also but I just fell in love with the sulcatta and would be honored to have one in our family again.

Baby tortoises are the cutest things ever!!!! Omg they are so adorable!❤️🐢🐢🐢❤️ it’s great that you take such good care of them! I’m a vet tech and a lot of times people get tortoises and have no idea how to properly care for them and they come in sick! Usually it’s just a matter of us having to educate the owner on how to properly house the tortoises and the temperature of the enclosure and the proper diet. It blows my mind that people buy a pet and have no clue how to care for it, it’s like hello do your research! Take good care of the animal!!

OMG... I've dreamed of having a tortoise since I was a child. My uncle Bob had one, Henry, that spent all summer guarding his fenced garden. Henry controlled pests & nibbled freely on all the veggies he wanted. Each night & in bad weather (winter) he enjoyed his indoor home. He became the neighborhood mascot! This went on for 15+ years until one morning when some jerk stole him out of his garden pool. He was missed by the whole neighborhood!

You dummy every animal that isn’t born *have* an ombilical cord plus if that was a yolk sac that would be an early embryo by the size and he’s a turtle expert plus I’m a 9 years old breeder of crested geckos even tho I haven’t yet got my *20* egg clutch

@@TheLoudTeguMan you are totally wrong. Only mammals that give live birth have umbilical cords which were attached to the mother. That's how they got their nutrition before they were born. The yolk sac or egg sac is what fed the babies while developing in the eggs. When hatched they still have a small yolk sac left to feed them for their first few days. Do your research.

Grew up in a small town and us kids would collect and make pets of almost anything that wasn’t fast enough to elude us my moms best friend rescued owls and all sorts of birds and anything else too so it was always fun to go to their house. One time they had an old both tub full of baby turtles. They were like the ones that were sold in the dime stores back then but our friends found them in one of the pond we frequented. We had some common animals and some strange things we weren’t familiar with that we had often not seen them in the mature state.

Amazing video and amazing animal care! I am a zookeeper and we have both spurred tortoises and red footed tortoises. My only thing is that you should mention how big they get and how long they live haha. You mentioned for potential owners to do their research, but Ofcourse some people won’t do that and assume they are just average box turtles. But great video!!
