- Celic Thunder opens the 247th St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York City with Caledonia.
*I am not in any way affiliated with Celtic Thunder (though I wouldn't mind being - wink wink). I am just a fan of their beautiful voices and I want to help get the word out about these guys! Their CD and DVD are out in stores and totally worth purchasing. They will be in the States on tour in the fall. For more information on this amazing group of men, go to www.celticthunder.ie.*
His name is Paul Byrom. Look him up, he has the most stunning voice.
For Celtic Thunder videos, i think they should NOT have a dislike button (like if you agree)
I dont care where they come from...Ireland, Scotland. They are just fantastic and handsome as hell
I love keith's harmony voice. George's voice hold the melody well. This is beautiful.
Celtic Thunder is AMAZING IN MANY WAYS!!!! don't listen to it too much...otherwise u become addicted...!!! lol
It feels my heart with pride to see Celts united instead of divided. Scottish, Irish, or Welsh, all Celts need to stand together as one people and one magnificent but diverse culture. And a pox on any Celt who raises a weapon against another.
I love the way Keith looked back then....and I melt when I hear him sing, Let Me Tell You That I Love You.
R.I.P George Donaldson I like this song Caledonia so beautiful with group just perfect wow
0:54- 1:09 I never realized just what a good voice Keith had.
Absolutely beautiful ❣️ Thank you. 3:04 Greetings from Missouri. Ciao 😂08/2024 ❤.
4 of them are from Ireland and one is from Scotland. They are Celtic because it runs in their veins. They don't have "American" accents, have you heard them talk? They live in Ireland and Scotland. This version has just as much passion as Amy MacDonalds's version because GEORGE. IS, SCOTTISH. I'm sorry if I'm coming off as rude, you people just aren't taking the time to really watch these guys. They have so much heart & passion, I just can't see how someone misses it.
i luv celtic thunder! keith harkin is my role model! thank u for posting this!!! their wee fan, xxgia
That was a great constellation. I miss Georg 💖 Funny to see the boys so young. Caledonia was one of my favorite songs 💚🤍🧡
This song always makes me smile :)
It will never be the same. You're a dreamer!
To say that they lack heart and passion and soul proves you have not taken the time to really watch these men while singing and performing. They have more heart, soul, passion then HALF of those stupid teenyboppers singers today. They sing about real life, real things that men go through. Not about smoking, drinking, doing drugs and other crap that's "popular" today. I couldn't think of a BETTER group to sing this. They have more heart, soul and passion combined then anyone I've ever heard.
Forever will love them! ♥♥
How dare you!! I have both Irish and Scot connections!!! I also wear the Black Watch Tartan, and with PRIDE. Because of one fool, condem all of us here in the U.S. then P-SS OFF! I enjoy Celtic Thunder and respect their heritage. So a PIECE of ADVICE, keep your words soft and sweet, for you never know when you'll have to EAT THEM!
I LOVE CELTIC THUNDER :D PLEASE COME TO MEXICO you have many fans here please

OMG!!!!!!! Damian is soooo goergeous!!!
i love that you can still hear their accent in their singing voice ^_^
I love them!!! I love irish music in spite I'm from Ecuador, it doesn't matter where you come from, Celtic music is always BEAUTIFUL!♥
Who cares where they're from, they are so great to watch and listen too! You're mkissing the whole experience!

I just have to watch this every once in a while!1 I love it!!!
I love a guy that can sing :) I think it's hot!
2:49 Damian's adorable laugh lol!
Damian's voice sounds sooo good!!! :D
men in kilts, and keith sayin' cheers, that's all one needs,,,and so it goes, jilly
The eldest, George Donaldson, is a Scotsman, and the Scots and the Irish are more closely related than most people think. The very name Scotland in fact came from Ireland. About 500 A.D., Celts from the Scotia region of Ireland invaded what was once called Alba (Caledonia by the Romans) and inhabited by Pictish Celts. About 843 A.D., Kenneth mac Alpin united both Celtic groups - Picts and Scots - and the land came to be called Scotland.
ahh now our damian is 20 *gets tears in her eyes* he's been my true love since i was a freshman in high school i watched him grow and I grew up as well and in still love him hahha "it's so cold people." love damian
R I P George Donaldson
:'( :'( :'(
So, if you all hate this version so much and think it sucked so bad why do you keep commenting on it? The people who love this will outweigh you who feel the need to say how bad they suck. Just so you're aware.
CELTIC THUNDER IS AMAZING! :DD :D :D
awesome we would get along perfectly!
Damian's "it's so cold people!" at the end is precious.
Love this song wish I were there now
Can't say I care much for this arrangement. Still, good for Dougie MacLean to get the royalties, he certainly deserves every penny.

JLward. The DVD was rehearsed, and edited and shot over 2 days. I have heard both Ryan and George sing in person and they do sound like that live. On the DVD they had time to perfect the song. They are NOT lip Synching. If you look up the song Lauren and I from the Glasgowbury Festival, you'll hear a totally different version of the song but it's still Keith's voice.
I love the old ladies that wave in the background
Just listen to them, they sing great and are great to watch! Just smell the flowers along the way!
that song is brillant im singing for my junoir cert :)
I LOVE DAMIAN, haha the car at the beginning!
Everybody is an expert. Just ask them.
Great music! (is anyone listening, or just trying to out-expert each other?)
Five good looking men in kilts and great voices...what more could I ask for?
well done lads
@gnostical We are an oral history, now as then, no matter how many scholars record on paper. Dougie says, in Caledonia, what every Scot feels at some point when in a foreign land, and mny of the Children of the Exiles I have met who have never set foot in Scotland. Our poets, singers, story tellers and perhaps most important, 400 years of mothers rocking babies and sining have kept our culture alive. The Gaelic will outlive me and people around the globe are learning.
i was there....it was FREEZING! and so were the guys!
it looks like Damian is about to burst out laughing when Keith and Paul scream come on and yah hoo near the end of the song
I agree with Jcroz, , it was freezin' that day, they did a great job outside with this......I LOVE this version.....you can hear their natural voices clearly. LOVE IT! :)
Be there if I didn't have to work. The network that is blessed to broadcast this better hope their hosts are a little more in atune to What is actually going on, and what is means to people. I felt last years broadcast was very disreseptful, Change Hosts would make us proud. This is our time.
I the Celtic Woman version first and though Lisa will ALWAYS be my favorite singer for all time, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this version too. Celtic Thunder is awesome! I love their version of Danny Boy as well.
ITS SO COLD PEOPLE!that was so cute on damians part!
Celtic Woman and Celtic Thunder should pair up for every song that's ever existed...
The enthusiasm is great! These guys make all they are doing look fun. I would rather have them singing outside and not studio perfect, than sounding perfect and lip syncing. It takes a man very secure in his masculinity to wear a kilt, and they do justice to them. They are the best!
Well said!
Caledonia is the Latin name given by the Roman Empire to a northern area of the island of Great Britain. The name represents that of a Pictish tribe, the 'Caledonii', one amongst several in the region, though perhaps the dominant tribe.
The modern use of 'Caledonia' in English and Scots is as a romantic or poetic name for Scotland. 'Scotland' itself is derived from Scotia, the Latin term for Ireland, from which the Scoti peoples originated before resettling in northern Great Britain.
What I love is how they didn't even close traffic for the filming of this.
thank you!
i love damian laugh!
hes sooo cute! i love him!
Are they sewriously singing this on St. Patricks day? Bizarre!
"I don't know, if you can see,
the freaking car that almost ran over me..."
Although the sound production for the tv audio left a little to be desired, but the boys got the job done. This group is going to be big.
omfg they are amazing!!!!
I love this song. It is so funny to watch them start laughing in the middle of the song. They are so funny lol. They look like they are having a blast. †
As for the poster of this and other great CT videos, it's Lasarahliz. You can chit chat with her, too, on CT's official site. Her name their is LA_Sarah_Liz. She's probably one of the biggest fans and certainly one of the most knowledgable.
Cheers!
2:38 I love how Paul totally overdoes it when they have to turn and switch spots
Oh, they're awesome...this just wasn't their best, but they're still awesome!!!
They did that this year.
i Love this song
i too would like to know when they will tour the U.S. around Birmingham, Alabama
Love these guys we want to see more shows...
i love that little laught that damian let out when keith and paul were trying to excite the crowd
my favorite has always been damian fell head over heels for him i still love him
ahh! theyre so amazing!!! :)
Well met!
It's one of my favourite songs -- and they do it rather well, indeed; but yes, Lisa Kelly did the song extreme justice! I can imagine a very pleased Dougie MacLean.
This song wells tears in my eyes at the mere playing of it, anyway, but, this year, they're using this song for the ad campaign for Homecoming 2009. If I don't make it this year, I shall shed tears three times more at the mere introduction music!
Glad that Dougie's getting his royalties for this great song, but I can't help noticing that some of the performances I've seen left quite a lot to be desired.

Matter of fact, members of Celtic Thunder show up occasionally and chat with everyone. Very approachable fellas and a very cool site. I highly recommend it. You'll learn a lot about the guys, the project and the people who love them. Also, all of them have MySpace pages except Damian (I think his parents won't let him have one just yet for his protection) and they're very cool about adding friends. As I said earlier, these guys are gonna be HUGE!!!
Cheers, everyone!
AMAZING
Caledonia is a love song to Scotland. The Scots and Irish and Welsh and Brettons and parts of Portugal and the Med Celts roamed and settled. Celts are not from one place, they were explorers and warriors...
It's not about this song being about Scotland. This song is CELTIC. It has the Celtic spirit and culture in it. And um, George is SCOTTISH. So that whole lacking soul, heart, passion comment? That's crap. If you know anything about Celtic Thunder you'd know that George loves Celtic music and loves singing it and does have plenty of heart and passion whilst singing this song. As for the rest of the guys, they're all very passionately about their Celtic heritage, hence WHY their in this group.
Yes, his three main reasons to live are surfing, girls, and music.
RIP George 4 Year's On GBNF 😭💔
I love Keith and Paul =]]
aww damian was just so cute when he was ct now he's handsome *blushes*
Caledonia is properly for Scotland, but Romans also called most of the island 'Caledonia' at one point, so it can apply to Ireland as well... Personally, I think St. Paddy's day should be a celebration of both countries, Scotland needs some love too!
okay, thank you
I like this, I like this because I am SCOTTISH (admittedly its not the best version of the song, Dougie Maclean does that).
I like that whatever American TV network this was, just played a song to the their nation during the St Patrick's day celebrations probably because 'Caledonia' sounds about right. Here's a newsflash.....EIRE = Ireland, Caledonia = Scotland
Hell in the U.S. they still teach God did everything, and these folk are our closest ally? LOL 'God' help US!!
im thinking celtic thunder and celtic women should duet on this song
They aren't all Irish, so none of that nonsense about that. They sing beautifully, no matter what accent the song is 'supposed to have' -please try not to make rude comments as they bother the actual fans. If you do not like them, just click the 'back' button and keep quiet about your negative opinions.
0:54 Makes me melt every single time
Yes I am. If you have ever heard Paul or Damian talk, you'll know. I know that is Paul. Damian however laughs either in this one or Danny Boy.....I think it's this one cuz Paul is trying to get the crowd to cheer.....When they sing, you can also hear what their voice would somewhat sound like when they actually talk.
yea i remember one of them saying that he is from scotland i just couldnt remember which one
Some people think he's from Wales, some think Scotland and some say Brettony in France.
So, the truth is, no one knows!!
wow beautyful
I think 23 people are regretting the finger slip that made them hit the dislike button...
Only in New York does it NOT seem strange to see 5 Irish guys standing in middle of the street singing! LOL!
I just want to know why Irish people are singing about Scotland. Wouldn't they sing about Ireland? It sounds amazing either way! Especially Keith
Considering the conditions it sounded great.Cant wait to see the live show. Why are there only two shows at Radio City???..
The kilt is the Scottish traditional dress. I don't know the origin of the band but Caledonia is one of the most famous/well known Scottish songs and Celtic is supposed to comprise both Scottish and Irish cultures.
Ditto to that!
