killer video man. Chunking for big snook was so common with many older fisherman but has kind of lost its place with so many younger anglers. Top water eats have taken over the youtube algorithm recently. I have a spot my dad showed me as a kid, where we use full size mullet heads and have yet to catch a snook under 38", the biggest being 44". Keep chunking dude, its such a good time and very effective.
It’s great to see you guys fishing the back Home Waters. I started laughing when I saw the tarpon spot. Always been an amazing area for my brother and I. look forward to seeing you on the waters. I love watching your videos. A lot of people keep up the good work.
@4:00 when you reel down on a circle hook to the side like that you lose more fish. Reel down from 10-2 position and you'll increase your circle hook sets.
Our waters are warming up quick and winds have been lighter finally. Still waiting on true Summer tides but the big boys are hitting cut bait as well are black tips, reds and specs. Very cool videos, and appreciate the Reel aspects while fishin.
I like that you guys use the Old School name Jewfish ,,,,That's what I grew up with and I still call them Jewfish too ,,,, Great video and Good Lady fish chunking with solid action!!
Ladyfish chunks aren't sexy but they're effective AF and you can up your leader size and eliminate breakoffs due to chafing. Personally, I let the circle hook and rod holder do the job of setting the hook. I don't pick up the rod until it's bent over and the fish is pulling drag. Excellent video.
Just came across your channel. Looks like my neck of the woods. Lovers key ramp @:24 secs on video ? Sweet vid nonetheless. Got a subscriber out of me 🤙
Depends on which setup I’m using. 20-30 pound braid typically. We found 50 pound leader is best. Any less and you can get snapped easily. Also, with the chunks the higher size doesn’t really affect the amount of bites.
Let me give you a pointer 44 years of experience if you're pulling on the fish and you can hear your drag while you're pulling and reeling you need to tighten your drag up facts
I disagree. I’d rather have it not lock down and cup the spool slightly if he is dawgin me into the mangroves. Tight drag is a recipe for snapped fish from my experience.
Literally have fished all these spots! Great video. See y’all out there 🤙🏼
👊
Definitely an effective bait. Caught my first 40in snook on that exact bait. Nice work!
That’s awesome, and thanks for the comment!

I’ve heard about big mullet heads before. I’ve personally never tried it. Might need to soon. I appreciate the comment man!

Nice work. The water is finally starting to warm up after a long cool spring snook season.

I appreciate that man!
i love you snookie!
😃
Not a bad fish, cut bait can definitely be effective. Keep that rod tip higher when cranking down on the circle hook though to help get it set
I’ve heard that before, may incorporate that in future. Thanks for the info!

Rodney is the man! I agree, sometimes I like picking it up to feel if he’s on it still.
Nice work guys!
Thank you man
From Naples too…I’m guessing 10k islands near Turtle key? Great vid!
Thank you!

God bless you! Thanks for the support
I have caught nice trout on chunks too brother.
Everything loves a chunk. Awesome technique
What column or you wanting to put your bait in with cut bait for big snook ?
We look for some water movement along the mangroves and preferably some deeper water. Some shallow spots work well too
What pound braid and leader?
Depends on which setup I’m using. 20-30 pound braid typically. We found 50 pound leader is best. Any less and you can get snapped easily. Also, with the chunks the higher size doesn’t really affect the amount of bites.
Only thing I hate about ladyfish is it seems the pinfish tear them up within about 2 minutes.
Them and catfish love them. Gotta work through them to get the big ones!
What coast of Fl?
West coast. Located in Naples!
I’m in Naples, love fishing the Bonita area.
@@stephenolsen9544 me as well
