    I still love that Jameson stuck up for Peter parker. Even when threatened with death, he still says he doesn't know who gives him the photos. Still makes me think of the beautiful moment when Peter parker comes out as spider-man to him in the comics. In the comics, the scariest thing in new york. Is when spiderman is quiet. Because it means hes pissed. A lot of criminals will fight spiderman knowing theyll lose. Cause they know the consequences and know they'll live. Plus hes always cracking jokes and what not. But when hes mad and hes silent. Criminals run. Supervillains run. When the kingpin went after peters family. He showed up as peter parker. And said something like, after wrecking him. He shoved his hand to his nose and said "all i have to do fill your lungs with web fluid and youll die in seconds. Spiderman doesnt kill people. But you came after peter parker. So thats who i came as." One of the coldest scenes ive ever seen in comics.

      That's what makes this trilogy so good! Many of the stories in Marvel's comics, especially Spider-Man, aren't any different. But these movies capture the essence of Spider-Man and feel like a comic book brought to life. Even if it's cheesy and campy at times, so what?

    • @fleason771
      @fleason771 Год назад +6

      It's cheesy for a reason, it's a deliberate choice by Sam Rami to create a film as if it was presented in a comic-book from a comic-book world. It's not a mistake. There were very few Superhero films out at this point & more importantly films that made money.

    • @chaost4544
      @chaost4544 Год назад +4

      It's cheesy but in the way the original Superman films were cheesy. The films are a good balance of comic book cheese but also hits on a lot of relatable things that are grounded.
      EDIT: For me, Spider-Man 2 does one of the best jobs of any comic book film of incorporating silly comic book elements, making it believable, and some of the cheesy elements adding real weight to the plot.

    1.Are these movies cheesy? Absolutely!
    But damn it, they have so much heart and passion put behind them that its easy to see why they're so iconic.
    2. William Dafoe was literally perfect casting to play the Green Goblin. Its just a shame that he was forced to essentially hide his face behind a power ranger villain mask, which took away from an otherwise great performance.
    3. J.K Simmons as J.Jonah Jameson was , yet again, perfect casting. Every scene with him is comedy gold.
    Hell, the man is so iconic that he's basically the default most people reference when talking about the character, he's *that* good.

      Sure the mask for goblin wasn’t really necessary. But personally I don’t think it really took anything away from willems performance at all. You still have the Jekyll Hyde scenes which he plays perfectly. And even when he wears the mask, a lot of times you see all the expression in his eyes. And the eyes tell the whole story.

    Among the Trinity of Marvel's golden age on film along with Blade (1998) & X-Men (2000).
    The beginning of Marvel's longest-running, 'solo' franchise ever ($8.2 billion).
    It took 20 years to develop this first film.
    Announced in 2000, filmed in 2001 and the teaser trailer with the twin towers (pre 9/11) was one of the most viewed trailers in history.
    Sam Raimi made cult classics.
    But his vision along with what we know from the comics was fantastic.
    The upside-down kiss was in fact 'the kiss of the year'.
    No.2 film of 2002.
    Opening weekend and the preceding box office was crazy.
    Spider-Man was always beloved.
    But this film made the legacy into a bigger phenomenon.
    Part 2 is one of the best sequels in the genre.
    Part 3..............you'll have to see for yourself (for real).

    These movies are the most accurate Spider-Man movies. Raimi nails the character of Spider-Man. Tom is a good spidey, but its more like the Disney version of the character. Tobeys Spider-Man is the closest to the Spider-Man I read about in the original comics.

      It's funny, everyone back then thought these films were WAAAAAAAAY different from Peter Parker when they first came out. People's nostalgia kills me with laughter.

    • @bt3519
      @bt3519 Год назад +1

      @YodatheHobbit No they didn't lol. This movie was insanely successful lol. The nostalgia excuse is so cheap and lazy. If you actually read the original comics, you'd know that Tobey was the closest. Even Andrew was closer than Toms.

    "Well, to each his own. I chose my path, you chose the way of the hero. And they found you amusing for a while, the people of this city. But the one thing they love more than a hero is to see a hero fail, fall, die trying.
    In spite of everything you've done for them, eventually they will hate you."
    This speech doesn't get the love it deserves tbh. It just freaking *raw* ,both in the context of the Reimy Trilogy and especially after No Way Home.

    Hey Leo, just so you understand the true impact of Spiderman. In the original comics in High School Peter dated a girl named Gwen Stacy (he didn't meet MJ until college) the situation came up where the Green Goblin had a tram full of kids and Gwen much like what we saw in the movie with MJ. In the comics Spiderman saved the kids but was too late to save Gwen and lost his love, which is what led to his solitude and keeping an arms distance from anyone. When he met Mj at Empire State University she was infatuated and chased after him until he finally let someone back into his life.

      This isn’t quite how it happened. He met both Gwen and MJ at college, and it was very much a conflict for him, where he couldn’t decide which girl to pursue for a while. Eventually he settled on Gwen, and they were fairly happy together. But Green Goblin found out his identity and specifically kidnapped Gwen, leading to a confrontation on the bridge. Goblin knocks her off in the ensuing battle, and Spidey in his desperation shoots a web out that catches her by the foot. But when he pulls her up she’s dead. The story itself leaves it somewhat open as to how she died, whether it be from the shock of the fall or the sudden stop caused by Spidey snagging her. I think it’s more commonly Peter’s fault nowadays.
