- Fighting his way to a third gold medal of the London 2012 Paralympic Games, David Weir won it the hard way by passing Zhang Lixin on the final bend and then leading the rest of the field down the finishing straight. Weir won the T54 800m in a time of 1 min 37.63 sec. Switzerland's Marcel Hug took silver with Lixin collecting the bronze.
