i love all the bands but i am glad the 1975 won because they've been working their asses off to give us music that is real and from the heart. they've been in this band for 14 years now i'm glad they are finally getting the recognition they deserve.
To everybody in the commments saying Little Mix deserved this: For once it's nice to reward a band that actually creates their own music and puts effort in the content they offer and in the ideas and messages they want to send, instead of rewarding performers with a celeb status with good makeup and fashion style that sing other people's songs with superficial messages such as my ex was an idiot or I love sex. I'm not trying to offend anyone or hate on Little Mix but please, can you all at least appreciate and recognize real musicians for once. If anyone deserved this other than The 1975 it's Radiohead.

Ajeng Putri Yuwono looking at their last album's track listing, they co-wrote 3 out of 12 songs on it, the rest was not written by them at all. On their other albums they have more co-written songs but pretty much none that they've written all by themselves.

This is just a few of the songs written by others that are not members of the girl group. Just to bare in my mind that in their recent singles, they had other people help write the songs with them. Little mix do not write their songs. They get other people to do it. They just sing it and dance to it. The 1975 write, make, produce all of their songs. They started from singing in pubs when they were teenagers. Little mix started by winning X factor. I respect little mix achievement. But their hit single 'shout out to my ex' is absolute crap. Understanding just how much of an inspiration these men are.. They're the definition of living out you're dream as a child. Genuine & Uniqueness at its finest lads.
I'm so sick of people saying little mix deserved this more. Especially because most of these people are the ones, who know nothing about The 1975. Are you guys seriously using "working hard" as an argument against the band, which literally broke the record for the most tour dates in a year by any band ever? These guys were rejected by record labels so many times, that they had to create their own one. They were rejected, because what they create is unusual, new and at the same time, somehow manages to be classic and nostalgic. What they create is risky, might not appeal to larger audience and, therefore, might not be as commercial as songs by Little mix for example. Everything they do is a part of their soul. They are involved in creating everything, from songs and production, to videos and lightings at live shows. These guys spent years trying to break through. What they create, both instrumentally and lyrically is art and poetry of it's own, if you don't want to go through their older songs, just listen to somebody else, or loving someone and you'll get my point. I'm not saying that LM are bad or anything (their music just isn't my cup of tea, but that doesn't give me right to call them bad), I'm just trying to be happy for a band that makes soundtracks of my life and has been doing so for years, without bunch of people, who have nothing to do with The 1975, ruining this moment for us - the fans, who have been loving this band for so long now.

when i saw this on television i had heard of them but never heard their music so i decided to check them out and i am really glad i did, they deserved the award.
I really wanted them to win, but I also wanted Bastille to win too, I think both bands are incredibly talented and passionate about their music, and they both have such a good quality and uniqueness to their music and lyrics.

I only found their music a few weeks ago and it's amazing. SO happy for them!!
I think it's harder for boy bands and girl bands to win this category because the members don't play music instruments ect. so they can't be credited that much. When you compare it to bands such as 1975, Bastille, radio head etc all their members are more involved in their own production. That kinda explains why one direction, the most successful British band (in terms of sales and fame) never even won this award.
