glad to see how many people stopped to help
The question is how many just stopped and recorded and did nothing.
@@thinktwice21166 Hopefully most weren't on their screens. I'd imagine there's a ton of footage from the road..
People don't want to get involved. They're scared of being hurt or sued or somehow being liable.
You can blame our legal system for creating this unfortunate situation.
Also, it's Minnesota, and Rochester. If you know, you know.
Most of those who stopped were just rubbernecking. There is nothing worse than somebody stopping on the opposite side of the freeway. That is just dangerous. If you really think you have some skills that are needed, then continue to the next exit, turn around and come back on the other side.
@@sgtstedanko7186 That's why we need Good Samaritan laws everywhere.
Absolute miracle no one was seriously injured! That basket had to have fallen 10-20 feet? And on fire. Incredible!
Yea, so many times we here about those things hitting powerlines & it's usually over for everyone in the basket. Excellent response by witnesses & first responders.
Great to see everybody stopping to help. Thank you.
Who else saw the Jeep and black truck @ 3:03. They both come blasting right into slowed traffic and almost paid the price.
I'm pretty sure the jeep hit the car in front of it. What a total moh-ron!
Idiot driving, they obviously could see the smoke from a mile away but paid it no mind
@@Ena48145 No, it was insanely close though.
They didn't see everyone stopped and the Honda CR-V with its hazard lights on. Blind bumper driving.
wow, that must have been frightening for those in the basket. Hoping everyone is okay.
Heartwarming to see all the people stopping to help. God Bless them, the folks in the balloon basket, and especially our first responders. There still is some Minnesota nice left. So happy to hear there were no serious injuries.
There was definitely an accident with the jeep at 3:08.. absolute fools with zero awareness!! Thank you so much for posting this video! I was sure that this was going to end in total catastrophe and heartache. I'm so glad everyone is okay. The response from passers-by was also amazing. So many people stopped!
I just wanted to say that If you have suicidal thoughts, mental trauma, PTSD, or even if you don’t or just going through a thought time or neither just know that I love you and your loved by many and people and if you think that might not be loved by your family or people you know or just anyone just know they might even love you even more than your think. You have a purpose you are beautiful, kind, just be yourself and go after what you want to do. You are amazing, you got this, and things will get better in your life, you will do great things, and so many people and I are proud of you. Your future is bigger than your past and your past does not define you are awesome and a warrior. Don’t hate yourself simply because of your past, forgive yourself, love yourself no matter what because you deserve the world and the great things in it. I love you Have a wonderful beautiful nice day. Also how are you and your family doing today? Hope you feel better and your family.❤️ Be yourself no matter what you are, have, or what to be you are still amazing and you kind and beautiful always you are the light of the world. Stay safe. 💪🏽❤️. Have a beautiful day💯💯💯💯💯
My wife on her way home called me to describe this odd thing in the sky. She couldn’t tell what it was. She pulled over for the emergency crews and lost sight of what is now known as the balloon. She saw the basket when driving by, we thought the worst. Glad everyone is okay - could have been very different.
Glad to hear everyone was okay. Could have been a really bad situation
Great video. Thanks for uploading the full video. 👍
Incredible footage!
Balloons are attracted to power lines like tornados are to trailer parks.
Also radio masts...who the heck put those radio masts right next to Balloon Fiesta Park anyway?
Last I heard tornados like Walmarts
Amazing all passengers survived. WOW
I love that no one was hurt but I also love how many people immediately stop to help give me a little more faith and humanity these days.
At least ppl stopped to help when it happened 😊❤
Remax balloon.
Housing market symbolism provided by MNDOT :D
@@mncam4422LMFAO
My thoughts too 😂
Wondering if PD should have closed down that exit....
This happened a few years back in (surprise...) ABQ, but with far more tragic results, the gondola having fallen over 70 feet onto a very busy intersection.
My home town. Glad no one was hurt.
It will be interesting to hear from the pilot and the NTSB on this one.
Makes me feel good to see all the ones who stopped to help
But how are they helping? Looks like most where just standing on the side of the road or just park in the car doing nothing. Does no take 16+ people to help.
Lyft pulled out of Rochester, too?
My God! Was watching this on Facebook and then seen it was deleted. That's crazy!
Well first off, glad everyone survived. But the balloon itself drifted a mile away….that is truly impressive 😮
At least they were close to one of the top hospitals in the US
Holy cats! 😳
Those woven baskets absorb shock really well
It had loss of lift before it hit the line.
Big city drivers with their turkey necking and taking videos as they drive by, people were even stopping on the other side of the median. Fools
It must have been out of fuel, the way they were coming down. The fact that there was no fire from the propane tanks when the basket burned seems to indicate that, unless the occupants dragged the tanks away before the fire really took hold. It will be interesting to see the news reports of the incident.
Lots happening in this video! 0:34 nice sparks from bottom silver car!
I'm confused. Where did the people in the basket end up? At this scene or where the balloon landed further east?
The basket came loose and is what caused the fire. Only the balloon kept going for a mile.
The people landed at this scene with the basket. It's all explained at the beginning of the video.
At the scene. The basket separated from the balloon and landed in the grass.
Electric arcs from a 15,000-volt cable will melt the tethers and separate the gondola from the envelope.
Really? No MNDOT trucks for traffic control?
Two types of people:
Heros - those who are there to save lives and property
Idiots - those who are there with only a camera
what if they're both
Glad everyone was safe. What I spent most of my time looking at, began at about @00:32. Just behind the banner, there's a car not far behind a semi. Watch the sparks that suddenly begin shooting out from their right rear. Did they somehow hit a piece that blew off from the balloon? Seems kinda random if it was just a coincidence. And that car was just about parallel with the balloon, when it hit the wire- so if it did come from the craft? It would have had to of been a high-powered ejection, to get to that specific car that quickly... a tank, maybe?
Could it be a piece of evidence they'll need to investigate this accident? Seems a few drivers might have seen something and changed lanes, or moved over a bit to avoid something, as traffic begins to build a little more, until a few ran over that spot, and maybe dragged whatever it was even further down the road.
Kinda surprised no one's mentioned anything about this that I could find.
Sad that banner landed right when it did, might have seen something that was the cause- but that's video-making. Maybe @MNCRIME can remove it, and see something for themselves.
Similar accident happened in New Zealand, hit a power line and caught fire
People were left to either jump to their deaths or burn to death
Total of 11 died
Sky-diving, cave-diving, Bunji-jumping, base-jumping, wingsuiting, hot air ballooning. 🚫
I hope this was not in the past few days where it’s been super windy
Seems like an impossible series of events that all took place simultaneously...
Somehow the power line(s) burned right through all the ropes that the basket was attached to its balloon with, AND managed to set that basket itself on fire at least a dozen feet below, AND somehow nobody was electrocuted
The Balloon looked like it purposely headed for the power lines.
Credit to those who stopped to assist, but why those on the opposing side of the road? Stop to take pictures, or even worse to then cross over to 'see' what had happened even after the police arrived. Some people just do not have any common sense.
That’s crazy it just cut the ballon off n gently set them down😂
It was not gentle; the gondola fell about 10 feet.
0:34 a car making sparks, probably drag parts of ballon
Do they not realize the don't have to stand in the smoke.
I am afraid of hot air balloons.
Holy rubbernecking
Nuts. Talk about a weekend gobe awry...
You can’t park there
I think I saw pick up truck hit black jeep and bump on white car 3:10
Get an original voice
Out of fuel?
Buoyancy.
@@jul1440Why didn't they run the burners and climb again then? Their approach to the highway and wires was clear for some time. They had time to go up again. We'll have to wait for those answers.

Climate Change???
Your mom was weighing it down.
bro what
@@ThriceCalledJoeOMG….Hilarious response! Priceless. You made my evening, thanks for that!
Power lines, but thanks for playing.
No, clearly this was caused by the Democrats, or the Republicans, I forget which. Or China. Or illegal immigrants. Or a space laser...
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 thank god everyone is safe
@@villefere6968Best answer I’ve read to anything in quite a while, and you’re absolutely correct.
@@Wildcock23No he isn’t. It’s well known that murderers don’t like hot air balloons.
But how was it struck if there was no path for electricity to earth?
