Flute Solo (solo for flute)

to accompany Syrinx by Debussy and Density 21.5 by Varese
Chou, Wen-chung was one of my three main composition teachers and my doctoral supervisor at Columbia University. He was Varese's literay executor. Varese left Wen-chung his house near Washington Square. Louise Varese was still alive, in the flat in the attic when I used to visit.
The others were Jack Beeson, the only American to study composition with Bartok, and Patricia Carpenter, Schoenberg's music assistant for the last 12 years of his life.
