The 458 has manually adjustable suspension. That owner might have just raised it to avoid curbs. So imo 458 > 488 > F8. The F8 imo looks like an autistic 488
Is aero/performance design in consideration when you do a car redesign in this channel or just for looks? Because im an engineer and function is as important with styling of a car or structure for me. More power to the channel.
Personally i really like your rendering at 14:51 because you made the lateral line lighter. Even though, i wouldn't have touched the rear, as it is the best part of the original f8 tributo.
I really like it... I'm kinda irritated that you present your opinion as objective with formulations like, "this is how a Ferrari should look like". And most of your redesigns "feel older" to me like in this case the f8-redesign could be launched next to the 458. Just my opinion.
Great analysis! In my opinion, it has its problems and I agree with you when you say about the lines ending with no reason, but for me it is still a beautiful car. Even more when you read why things are the way they are in the car. However, it looks better with your design, specially when it comes to the front light and rear view as a whole. You should do more reviews like this! Nice job!
I agree that it's a beautiful car. IF you wanna look at overly designed cars, just looks at 'Lambos' such as the Aventador SVJ, Veneno, Egoista (ugly too), Sian (rather than the old school Lamborghinis like Muira or LP400 Countach). Also the pure performance, but pure ugly Senna.
Bro, Im in the process of designing my own supercar. Im going to build one soon. Your videos are so informative. Ive learned so much on what looks aesthetically pleasing and what ruins cars. Keep it up brother!
DNA’s beautiful and it’s beauty has nothing to do with how it looks............... but rather how it works. Beauty is certainly subjective but most of this feels like a Symantec argument
Interesting video 👍🏼 The silhuette has flow, I agree, but there are a lot of folks do not like the design details of the 458. I am one of them, owning ferraris 12 yrs. The front bumper mustaches, rear design, triple exhaust.. nah for many sir. I'll take speciale, that is corrected 458 design imo, And design of 488, the F8 in a heartbeat compared to regular italia. My current 355 is not a reliable car, as a Ferrari shouldn't be, since we are not driving this stuff to do Porsche work, And it looks amazing..
I completely agree. Since Pininfarina was discontinued, the designs are more messy, less flowing, more chaotic. They are going backwards in creating beauty. Its really a shame.
12:28 the Redesigned Rear reminds me of the 430 perfectly matched with the 458 front face, almost brings a tear to my eye seeing both of my childhood cars coming together as one
almost like someone did very bad job repairing dents. or lots of different designers worked on separate elements, while also taking a vague inspiration from past designs.
Hey, only found out about your channel now, interesting and refreshing content and i certainly do agree with you on the F8 not looking good (for Ferrari's standards). What do you think by the way of the design of the Aston Martin Valkyrie and the AMG One? (and will there be a video about one of those or both cars?)
Unlike most people appareantly, the 458 never did anything special for me, I really like the Pista. But your redesign of the F8 really works, especially on the side and out back. Well done.
The F8 is my favorite looking mid engine Ferrari(aside from the LaF). While I get the appeal of the simple design of the older 458, it just looks outdated and even a little boring. It still looks good and is by textbook definition probably more “beautiful” but I’m just not interested by it. Aside from the front bumper you redid, I completely prefer the original F8 to the 458 or 488.
As a Mechanical Engineer, I agree sometimes that the design looks awful in some cases, but you can't forget that sometimes, they can't go on more beautiful designs because of their aerodynamics, that affects the car's speed, so every engineer and designer working together, must find abalance between beautiful curves and aerodynamics working.
The rear still feels messy and chaotic but the rest was absolutely perfect. It flowed so much better and felt cleaner. I would have liked a much simpler and smoother rear but it is still a vast improvement to the original design.
All a matter of opinion. I certainly love the look of the F8 with the return of the 4 rear lights. The 458 does sound much better, the turbos made the 488 and F8 faster but at the risk of dampening the sound. As for your argument on the aerodynamic purposes of the styling, well doesn’t a wind tunnel test which all manufacturers do when designing a new car not basically overrule any doubt about the stylings functionality?
This is a terrible analysis that is totally ignorant of the design history of the Ferrari's and the total lack of continuity that actually ended with Coco Donato's 458. Basically, longtime master designer Leo Fioravanti moved on from Ferrari in 1992 and the 348/355 were his last efforts (the 355 was just a slight redesign that Fioravanti did not do but it was similar regardless). This started over a decade long flirtation with different Pininfarina designers in the 360 (done by Goran Popović), the 430 (done by Frank Stephenson), and then Donato's 458. They had little continuity and it's represented by the radical departures from these different people. Manzio came in for the 488 and F8, and there is a design continuity coming out of this era and the move to pure Ferrari design in-house. The 458 made NO sense in terms of the lack of a side airduct and the 488/F8's turbo charging absolutely needed to return to the level of side duct to cool operate the intercoolers and rads. Isolating the 458 as being the most beautiful when it has the least level of continuity with any of the other mid engine V8 designs is bizarre, and Manzoni is bringing that continuity back.
I totally agree with the sketch monkey here. The Ferrari 360 has been getting a lot of kudos of late for its clean,under-appreciated (until recently) lines.. I would be interested in a design evaluation of it and the F430 that followed. I remember thinking the 360 looked “soft” when it came out, and I felt that the F430 looked much better/stood out/more aggressive.. now I am not so sure and am kind of torn.

The F8 has a rather dopy looking front end to me, but the rear view sends shivers up my spine. Such aggression and I love it! Your redesign of the rear might very well be close to what Ferrari may do for a special edition of the car in due time ;)
Great video, although, I think that the conection between this two cars designs is the 488, when put the 3 together I do see the evolution in design, nevertheless, the 458 is, on my humble oppinion, the best looking of the last 3 dedades
Totally agree with you in considering the Italia the pinnacle. I remember seeing it at first in magazine photos and not liking it, but meeting one in the wild, for less than a minute, and keep drooling an entire week ¡Ooooh, my god! ¡What an absolute beauty! Maybe the F8 side air intakes try to remind us the ones in the Dino, or in the 208/308/328/288 GTO but, far from the cleanliness in those old designs, they really mess up the lines of the car.
Design and performance are not as homogeneous as they used to be. Many of the extra lines in the F8, are there for function. The increased aero and downforce on the f8 are far superior to those on the 458.
I’m curious to hear what you think of the 488 gtb and the 488 pista! They are much more similar to the 458 than the f8 but it’s still a different car. Would you still regard them as a beautiful car?
Awesome Video. Could you draw a red F8 spider with added striping to enhance the lines? I want to get your idea of what kind of wrap/decal to put on the car to make it more stunning. Thanks!
Love your redesign a LOT more than the original. The nose needed to be smoothed out, the headlights needed to be lifted, and the door intake protrusions minimized. The back is also a lot better although I'm still not a fan of the vents under the taillights. Ferrari should hire you for the next version. IMO, they've done their best designs every 3 generations, starting with the 308, then the 355, and finally the 458. The next one will hopefully live up to it. Cheers!
You hit the spot with the shape simplification on the F8. Much better looking. Regarding the 458, the crossing lines are really bothering me and clash with the « beauty in nature » consideration as lines usually do not cross in organic shapes. Good luck spotting crossing lines in dunes, fabric folds, or muscle lines.
I totally understand what you're saying in terms of cohesive designs. Everything is over designed nowadays but we have to understand that these designs are way more efficient in terms of performance and drag than previous cars. The intakes, fins, and all these parts sticking out actually do have functions and make the F8 more efficient than a 458. Some of those design sacrifices they're making create a huge difference for what they're trying to achieve. With all that being said, I'm with you and I don't like how they look nowadays. But I can see why they need to do it. Just my 2 cents
I think you’re right about the 458 being more elegant and flowing. But while watching you, I started seeing stronger straighter arrows on the F8. Less elegant but more aggressive. I get your point on the 458!
Before this video, I thought it was pretty nice and thought you were wrong until you resigned it and now it resembles a Ferrari more than it ever did! I love it
I don't understand ferrari, really. They went from beautiful 360 to the odd 430, and even weirder looking 599. Then they created the oh so beautiful 458, then went all "I can be as extreme as lamborghini" (no you can't bro) with 488, and then made it even worse with the new f8.
I like headlights of F8. Also I totally agree that in car we see animals/humans. We like ones that look aggressive, because we want to be that way ourselves, and car kinda represents a person. Car must be thin with aggressive headlights, without unnecessary shit, with aggressive stance etc.
You need to remember the more horsepower you put in a car the more HEAT you produce! And that means more cooling! I personally like the look of cooling vents! The roma only has 600 odd horsepower so cooling is not a priority! Just a point i thought id add!! Good analysis of styling for sure well done!
Ferrari needs to stop with the "f1 car for the street" nonsense and go back to nice forms. Vents, scoops, swoops, etc look so tacky. Having variations of Round lights for every model takes it toll. It's so tired. Try to be creative like mclaren. They're in formula one as well but their cars are way more creative and appealing.

430 scuderia is the best looking ferrari at all time !!!! where is my popcorn ?
Dessin n°1 ou 2, ton travail est toujours remarquable ! Dans les moindres détails ! De l'art ✨🙏🇫🇷
Ever since the 458 came out, it’s been my favorite. So perfect. I’ve driven one, and it was breathtaking. I would love to own one someday.
Really curious how you would redesign or modernize a motorcycle, maybe the Suzuki Hayabusa.
12:28 the Redesigned Rear reminds me of the 430 perfectly matched with the 458 front face, almost brings a tear to my eye seeing both of my childhood cars coming together as one
i call this the “ beat with a bat” look. alot of japanese and american cars do this now days, exceptions , mazda
almost like someone did very bad job repairing dents. or lots of different designers worked on separate elements, while also taking a vague inspiration from past designs.
The 458 Italia got me interested in Ferrari again. Before that, the Enzo was the last great looking design, imo.
Thanks I'm not the only one who thinks that the 458 Italia was one of Ferrari's greatest designs in recent years.
Loved the 458 since it was introduced and think it will go down as one of the best designs. Just needed a manual transmission
I’m no designer, just a car enthusiast. I find the F8 MUCH cooler looking than the 458, from any angle.
I agree the italia just doesnt do it for me
To tell u the truth there are many of your designs that I dont like, but this is perfect imo. Good job man!
Hey, only found out about your channel now, interesting and refreshing content and i certainly do agree with you on the F8 not looking good (for Ferrari's standards).
What do you think by the way of the design of the Aston Martin Valkyrie and the AMG One?
(and will there be a video about one of those or both cars?)
bro you speak to my heart. All the lines of the 458 Italia response perfectly to each other - a timeless masterpiece.
11:39 This statement hits me hard
so true
Yes. 😁
Aside from the front bumper you redid, I completely prefer the original F8 to the 458 or 488.
i agree 100%
You nailed it!
you were talking about the f8 tributo, and you made your points clear, but what's your opinion on the f90 stradale design wise?
I dont know. I like it.
Who else thought the re-sketch made the F8 look.. well like an ordinary 458
MikeM looked more like a 430 from the back
I can’t be the only one who doesn’t like the f8’s looks
pista is better f8 look's like shit
The normal 488 looks better than this
As a Mechanical Engineer, I agree sometimes that the design looks awful in some cases, but you can't forget that sometimes, they can't go on more beautiful designs because of their aerodynamics, that affects the car's speed, so every engineer and designer working together, must find abalance between beautiful curves and aerodynamics working.
Engine: Ferrari
Design: Peninfarina
Driver: me 😉
And that's it
10/10 for the front redesign, very well done, much better than the original.
I've never been a fan of the 458 italia's design sorry
Emilio8x it did look bloated
Wow. 1:50 to 2:20 had perfect thoughtful speech. Does anyone know of a RUclipsr who discusses buildings/architecture as beautifully as this guy does?
458 = 👌🏻
Tributo = 🤮
Is there anywhere I could download the 458 painting at the end of the video?
F8 = Feight= Fate. The new design id called Ferrari Fate
Your redesign of the rear might very well be close to what Ferrari may do for a special edition of the car in due time ;)
I believe the front line connects to the windshield, no?
The overstyled design and crazy creases and lines....is just nonsense.
No, to improve downforce. You may hte the styling, but it has a purpose.
What do you think of the new Aston Martins like DB11, Vantage or DBX?
Also, pinanfarina is great. Ferrari design sucks.
Great job, do you post videos where you design a car from scratch?
Design and performance are not as homogeneous as they used to be. Many of the extra lines in the F8, are there for function. The increased aero and downforce on the f8 are far superior to those on the 458.
The best example is the McLaren Senna...
Danny R agreed...that thing is so ugly that it’s just bad ass.
I’m curious to hear what you think of the 488 gtb and the 488 pista! They are much more similar to the 458 than the f8 but it’s still a different car. Would you still regard them as a beautiful car?
I really like the F8, yours looks great too but it's like a stepping stone between the 458 and F8. I like the new look that they went for
Awesome Video.
Cheers!
As a designer i like to see people analises of product desing! Good job man, keep on goin!
I agree with you!
My 458ITALIA run 351,205km in JAPAN.
Nicely put together summary of eCotY - thanks for creating this to support the main event in print. Looks like so much fun!
AMC Javelin or Lancia Stratos please.
The tributo looks way better. He’s been way off lately.
I think the 458 looks better.
Hey, Can You Tell Me That How You Learned To Use PhotoShop?
I think you’re right about the 458 being more elegant and flowing. But while watching you, I started seeing stronger straighter arrows on the F8. Less elegant but more aggressive. I get your point on the 458!
The Roma is identical to a Aston Martin, if that's Ferrari for you, I don't think you know much what you talk obout
After seeing some of Ferrari's more recent cars, I'm beginning to think we didn't appreciate the F8 enough lol
Could you do the citroën c4 catus please
Crazy thing about the 458 is how compact it actually is IRL, it looks even more agile and nimble than what you would expect from photos!
