      It is not completely flexible, but by setting a few user beat markers, we calculate the position of the beats in between.

    @1:50 giggle - that little "oopsie" moment is so cute :) some people would edit that out, but I think it's cool you left that in the finished video, makes it seem all the more authentic and real :)

    this is fkn awesome. As a producer, I used to go into Studio ONE to pin to "the grid" new artist recordings that weren't recorded to a click track. After straightening them out I'd take them into Bitwig but this is so much better than anything I have used (I have ableton as well). Also worth noting that Bitwig should be able to use ALS files exported from DJS.

    That is very cool! I would like to see DJ Studio also being able import beat grids from VDJ/Rekordbox/Serato. Most DJs that play "real" music have already painstakingly beatgridded most of their old skool tracks. Please import those grids. Thanks! (Just got my license a few days ago 🙂)

    • @djstudioapp
      @djstudioapp  10 месяцев назад +1

      We do! Unfortunately, a lot of people did not fix their grid in Rekordbox, so we imported bad beat grids, and people started complaining about it in DJ.Studio :-( So, we decided today to take our beat detection algorithm to the next level and stop importing the grids from external software that we don't control.

    • @SuppeUrt
      @SuppeUrt 10 месяцев назад +2

      But could you please offer the option to use the manually crafted beatgrids some of us have already made in our DJ software? I mean, if your beat detection algorithm is so “next level”, why did you make this video on how to manually fix beat grids for old disco tracks?? As long as you can’t reliably detect the beats, then at least let us re-use the manual grids made in our DJ apps. This will save a lot of pain re-doing the grids in DJ Studio.

    • @carlos_mann

      @@SuppeUrtthere's no software that can get a every track on point, too many reasons I can personally list but if they allow for them to be imported and it's not successful for everyone right now wouldn't be a good idea. It's too new of a company and the team is so small, it's better for them to hold off on a potential issue that cman cause for a bad outlook from the start.
      I'm pretty sure within time they will be able to but this company is so new they might now have the developing team to support that bug or whatever the back end issue may be....
      I am pretty sure if anyone can help them with the backend of this it'll be much appreciated and help move this forward to others as well!

      @SuppeUrt 10 месяцев назад +4

      @@carlos_mann You seem to misunderstand what I am requesting. I (and many others) have spent a lot of time manually creating perfect beat grids in our DJ apps. An option to import those grids will be a huge benefit. It doesn’t have to be default. @djstudioapp replied, that they already are able to import, but because some DJs do not fix their grids, then nobody should have the option to import. That doesn’t make sense to me.

    Once I've fixed the beat grid of a track, when I save the file, am I creating a new MP3/Wav/M4A which potentially degrades the integrity of the original recording or is there some some of 'beat grid' meta data written to the file? Also, if I edit grids on files first them import them to RekordBox, will it keep the beat grid I assigned?
    Front end is a little counter intuitive. It would appear I'm always 'creating a mix'. I just want to edit individual tracks beat grids.

    • @djstudioapp
      @djstudioapp  3 месяца назад

      We do not touch the original file. We create separate beat grids. Fixed, variable, and AI. You can switch between these grids to find which suits you best. Or you can make your own manual changes, and it becomes a manual grid. We do export this grid to rekordbox for you. We are not a music library for fixing grids. That's why the front end only works from within the studio while you are crafting a mix. I understand you want to use DJ.Studio to fix your rekordbox grids? In that case, we would need to bring the beatgrid editor to the library.

    • @UTO0O0B
      @UTO0O0B 3 месяца назад

      @@djstudioapp Awesome. Thanks for some clarification. The beat grid component of DJ Studio is great! Much better than Rekordbox. How do I save the new beat grid I create back to Rekordbox then? You say “We do export this grid to Rekordbox for you”. I dont see any option to do that!

    No ability for the software to listen to the track and automatically create markers in the correct place like other DAWs can?

    • @djstudioapp
      @djstudioapp  10 месяцев назад +2

      Well that can be pretty complex and other DAW's also struggle with it. Ableton is doing a good job now, but that took them 15 years to get there. We are 6 months young.

    Just bought my pro licence today, thanks to Laidback Luke, and looking forward to dive in.
    Fixing the beat grid here, looks much more effective than the tedious work I'll have to do in Serato. As I still have mountains of unfixed grids waiting, I'm wondering, if DJ Studio is able to export the fixed grids into Serato, so I don't have to do double the work?

    • @djstudioapp
      @djstudioapp  9 месяцев назад

      Hi Christian, At the moment we do not send anything back to Serato. Would be a good idea to do that in the future. First, we need to agree with Serato on a microsecond level about positions in the music.

    • @DJ_C_Wied
      @DJ_C_Wied 9 месяцев назад

      @@djstudioapp This for the reply. Surely I don't know about the issues of integration. Perhaps a work-around could be an option to export a "copy" mp3, with beat grid data included (if this is even possible). Kinda like PlatinumNotes makes a copy of files, so you still have the original unprocessed as well.
      Disclaimer: I don't know anything about programming etc. I'm just a DJ. :D

    I really like DJ Studio but it's very frustrating that this problem hasn't been addressed in a more intelligent way. I don't want to spend hours aligning beat grids for every track I work with (mostly disco and live beats)
    Surely a fairly simple task for an AI model to do automatically with just minor user input?
    Fingers crossed for an update in future.

Shift cursor to select a block, Ctrl-c, Ctrl-v and Del. All the keys you need to make a cool edit and DJ mix ;-)

    • @djstudioapp
      @djstudioapp  29 дней назад

      yes! The beat markers mark the beats in the original track. The mix tempo is set in the Tempo lane. We cut the original track in pieces per beat and play them at the speed you want. going from 118 to 140 is no problem. We repitch the music to keep the same key and prevent stuttering in the vocals.

I made all the corrections to the grid according to the video, but when I exported the file in mp3 format and when I loaded it into Traktor, the grid was wrong again. We don't export the grid to Traktor. Only separate tracks as music.

      I ran AI Beatgrid across the song, disabled the limiter and exported the single audio file as a Mix to WAV file format.
      I did this with several old 70's classic songs. I then loaded the tracks into Traktor 4 and their beatgrids were 100%.
      I also loaded the new created WAV file (with AI adjusted beatgrid) back into DJ Studio library.
      I then right-clicked on the track and exported as an ableton stems file, basically a zip file containing the 4 separate wav files.
      I unzipped the wav files into a folder and loaded the drums wav file into traktor. The result was 100% accurate beat consistent throughout the length of the track.
