We will lose our jobs to AI- it’s just a question of when. Neural networks are already here, and they’re already taking care of people’s tasks, often with the same level of accuracy and quality but most importantly, for free.
Which professions will disappear in a few years due to AI and will we see the rebirth of Luddism?
Who will take responsibility for mistakes when humanity outsources its health and safety to machines?
And most importantly, how will humanity be able to tame the power of AI?
This is another tale on your expedition through the online jungle with Sumsub.
Sumsub - empowering compliance and anti-fraud teams to fight money laundering, terrorist financing, and online fraud.

Pretending there will be new jobs is not being honest about the technology, the world needs to take this seriously. As someone that currently works at a shipyard and wants to transition into being an artist, I realize that commercial art is being industrialized very quickly now whereas there's no tech in sight that can get a robot to climb into tanks or tight spaces in a Sub to actually get something done, and you're crazy if you think we're creating a specialized robot with the dexterity of a human, and problem solving capability these neural networks have, for each individual job at a construction site.

AI will be excellent if programmed properly. The issues start when your AI doctor is programmed to give you the cheapest medical treatment, instead of the best one. When your AI judge makes a decision that favors "society" instead of you when you sue the government (or when the government sues you). Same with AI produced legislation. The problem lies in the humans that define those priorities.

    • @fnorgen

So, the exact same problems that have always plagued human decision making.

    • @TheSimArchitect
      @TheSimArchitect Год назад +6

@@fnorgen Yes. The problem isn't humans or not humans deciding. The problem is on which humans make the real binding decisions that trickle down the entire system, digital or biological.
Many times we need "human assistance" because the a-hole that designed an automated system used dark patterns. Not because we need a human to interact with us, but because we need a human with enough power to "bend the rules" or work around (very intentional) defects. If some government's automated system is designed to refuse your pledge for a benefit, even if you're legally entitled to it, when you consider millions of people, only a small percentage will challenge the system and "call the manager", so they save a lot of money. Large businesses do the same. Courts, even with humans "deciding" do the same. Your punishment is frequently the long and tiresome process, not the fine.

Due to humankind's obsession with winning at all costs rather than cooperating, AI is destined for ultimate success. This is because, rather than depending on enormous pools of competent applicants offered by countries like China and India, the world will increasingly rely on AI to fill vacancies. At some point in the future, when human beings no longer care about anything but winning, artificial intelligence will develop to the point where it is more intelligent than humans. Our egocentric culture will never adopt a law that prevents AI from taking human jobs. Twenty years ago, everyone was talking about how China was the future. Today, we know that artificial intelligence is the future because it will be used more widely than China will be. There are no limits on the ability of other countries to advance their own AI research and development; China is only one among several. Although China is a leader in AI development, artificial intelligence will ultimately triumph. Although China is home to over 1.4 billion people, the world does not require 1.4 billion AI programmers.

Based on what ai will decide, if it is better to save more people or to save one person In the car? Someone writing this program will have to choose between crushing into a bike or a car. When someone is deciding about that behind the wheel you can't blame that person, everything is happening to fast to choose the best option (what is even the best option?). You made an omission when you said that the first jobs to be automated would be blue-collar jobs. In fact some blue-collar trade jobs are the most resistant to automation. Blue collar jobs like electrician, plumber and HVAC will be some of the last jobs to be automated. This is because these jobs all require the use of a wide variety of tools in a wide range of circumstances and environments. They also have almost zero training data available and are not super well-paid. Thus there is little incentive to automate and it would be very difficult to automate if you tried.

Artists, writers, singers ,newscasters ,sales crew , security guards , go first.

Yes Ai will be a tool that will be highly helpful.
Here are some issues with that though.
1 - the industrial revolutions before this had new frontiers to push workers into. Colonisation, digital realm, specialisations.
2 - populations growths and increasing life standards caused explosive increases in demands for products.
AI will reduce the needs for workers per specialisation exponentially. We currently do not have any new frontiers to push people into.
And while population decline is an established fact for the near future we already have an artificially regulated market in terms of supply and demand.
A very high ammount of people will struggle to find jobs in a near future ( by near i talk after 10 years from now) unless we can find a way to create either a new frontier or to give those people other things to do. :/

we think about it all wrong in my opinion, AI will hopefully become a tool that allows us to ask more questions. In the same way that a calculator does. A calculator doesn’t form the idea of an experiment, but it does take manual work away from the process, speeding up the resolution. AI, if used effectively, will free humanity to ask deeper and deeper questions, whilst using it as a crutch to perform the menial tasks that need to be completed in order to answer them. An example:
How many moles of oxygen gas does it take to…
Calculator can do the math based on experimental results.
AI can structure the paper, the argument, based on a template and data given.
AI isn’t a cheat sheet. It’s a tools that will enable us to ask and answer questions faster and with more clarity.

Information therefore will also need to be signed to be trusted. What if AI started to fill in Wikipedia. You really can get into a fabrication loop. In some non democratic nations this is already fact. Therefor the future winner will be those that can ensure fact from fiction. That will be the next gen tech.

20:26 - PS: until we are able to put ethical standards into an AI, we should be careful about giving full autonomy to AI in a real world generalist context - the human backup should always be there. (Consider in this case I refer to self-driving cars vs a specific AI for warehouse management per se. Self-driving is a much more complex and nuanced task for the AI given all the problems it could face. - and consider the observability problem: the warehouse AI has sensors across the building to predict motion of workers, vehicles and other elements. Until we get a fleet AI for all the AI cars in the world, there will always be more blindspots than the car individually can handle.) [Also note that to add these ethical standards in, we will need more generalist AI models, or else the fundamental understanding of what ethics is, could be lost on the AI, and ruin the effort to give it our moral compass]

@Happy Potential here I asked AI for you lol
While artificial intelligence (AI) is advancing at an unprecedented pace and has the potential to automate many jobs, there are still some areas where human skills and expertise are essential. Here are some examples of jobs that are less likely to be fully replaced by AI:
Healthcare professionals: AI can help with diagnosis and monitoring, but human doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers are still essential for personalized care, emotional support, and decision-making.
Creative professionals: AI can create music, art, and writing, but it still lacks the human touch and the ability to come up with original ideas. Artists, writers, and designers can bring unique perspectives and creativity to their work.
Social workers and therapists: AI may be able to provide some mental health support, but it cannot replace the empathy, communication skills, and human connection that social workers and therapists provide.
Teachers and educators: While AI can help with personalized learning, human teachers can provide guidance, encouragement, and mentorship to students, as well as adapt to individual learning styles and needs.
Emergency responders: Police officers, firefighters, and other emergency responders need to make split-second decisions in unpredictable situations, and their ability to assess and respond to complex, real-world scenarios is hard to replicate with AI.
Tradespeople and skilled laborers: Jobs that require hands-on skills and experience, such as plumbers, electricians, and construction workers, are less likely to be replaced by AI. These jobs require physical dexterity, problem-solving skills, and adaptability.
Researchers and scientists: AI can help with data analysis and simulation, but human researchers and scientists are still needed to develop new theories, conduct experiments, and interpret results.
These are just a few examples of jobs that are less likely to be fully automated by AI. However, it's worth noting that the impact of AI on the job market is complex and multifaceted, and some jobs may be transformed or displaced by automation. As technology continues to advance, it's important for individuals to adapt and upskill to remain competitive in the job market.

Not everyone can or want to be a politician, engineer or programmer and i'm not sure that they will last for a long time actually. It's quite naive to think that ai will never start coding, controlling people, making technical sketches better than them.

None whatsoever. None of us have any future. You will NOT have a job in the future, neither will I.
AI programs better and faster than humans ever will. AI creates art and music. AI can do all office jobs better and faster than humans. Automation can do 95% of all physical jobs better than humans. No point training to be a "technician" or "repairer" - those jobs are already completely oversupplied as one person can maintain literally a few million servers each year.
One person can also repair and maintain 2500 production lines each year.
This is the problem - automation and AI are rapidly doing away with the jobs that we the people rely on.
Increasing taxes to have a UBI won't work as the 4 companies that own every major company on this planet will simply shutdown if anyone tries to tax their automation as the people right at the top have more than enough money to never work again and live like kings. Plus if no one is working and has no money, there are no consumers and thus no businesses.

@@jghifiversveiws8729 There is no such thing as a "skilled trade" only jobs that are being rapidly regulated out of existence. Want to work with "green tech" - you better be employed by one of the handful of legislated "green companies" who are permitted to do such work. The days of anyone getting qualified and working as a tradie are gone thanks to over regulation. The other problem is why would anyone give a job to a newly trained person when the industry has a heap of qualified people who are more skilled and have more experience who are simply waiting for work? Without landing a job you can't even get qualified as these jobs all require apprenticeships in order to get qualified. The only people who get those are friends or families of already qualified people so if that's not you, you have no hope of even getting qualified. At least that's how it is in most of CANZUK and CUNA.

I feel as though AI would only be smarter than a human because we as humans would become dumber from using AI to do everything as far as writing program, doing math calculations, making art we wouldn’t even know how to do that anymore, and if people do not know the styles of writing, if people do not even know that algebra and calculus exist, then how what people ask AI to do anything for them so ultimately, the only reason AI will take over so to speak is because humanity would just become dumber from using AI over hundreds of years and then if so how would we even know what to tell AI to do if we don’t even know what cursive is and we don’t even know the word right anymore because every time something needed to be done this a I just did it AI literally would make college obsolete

A robot or artificial intelligence will never steal my job , unless engained sentience because it's terrible lol. I work security and I have seen security bots but they cannot handle human Interactions and the social aspect that comes with being a security off.
Believe it or not I am 5' 6 at a 130 pounds with no muscle and I'm a sergeant in my company and we are a gambling establishment meaning we have drunks and all sorts of crime. I am the only security guard officer there that has never gotten to a physical Altercation. I have had people almost tried to take a swing at me and have had one drunk try to kick me and he fell. But I've never been in a situation where the guy really went after me and I had to defend myself.
And I also rarely get into shouting matches because I know how to talk to people and I've learned that you can use words to basically manipulate people to do what you need them to do and. It might be called my control or brain washing I call it word judo in my job. Because I physically cannot restrain somebody I have to manipulate them into getting them to do it for me.
It's a skill that I had to basically learn and adapt to otherwise I would never get anywhere in that company being so tiny as a male. Nobody would respect me there. But we have cartel members gang members that come there and when they cause trouble or I catch them they treat me with respect and politeness. Other guards they treat them with shit. Like they aren't less than nothing. BixbyBecause I work with a bunch of wannabe cops that want to be have a power trip and get off on that I don't. I want to make things run smoothly for myself and for the customer and if that means cutting corners and breaking the little rules here and there so be it. As long as nothing criminal happens everything is fine.
Because of this I had one guy who was 6' tall 200 or 300 pounds of fat and muscle. Vaguely threaten me mafia style... Like it be a shame of you..
Well word spread among the other patrons there and other horse trainers and stuff and they beat his ass. I didn't do a thing. Also the officials went to the high robs and gave him a final warning that if he calls any trouble whatsoever he will be banned permanently to any guard in any.
I didn't ask for any of that all I wanted to do is have it logged into the system to let them know what happened.
But you cannot replace that kind of human interaction with AI yet and I'm think we are very far away from that.
So I think if you are good with social abilities and talking to people and things like that things that robots and a I'll never be able to replicate in our lifetime correctly you will have a job still even if it's something that robots can do pretty well like mine. I mean most positions here can easily just be done by a camera and then the AI would basically look and see what would happen and make a decision on who to send we could have this gigantic property staff With only 2 people instead of 30 on live.
However. I am waiting for the days with When trade schools open up for AI/robot repair cause I will be getting a job in that industry lol
