Caught a few house cats and possums in these traps before in my subdivision
I have gotten to where with my cage traps I put the bail on the ground then put the trap on top with the pan over the bait. I have had some animals run in, grab the bait and out without tripping it and this makes em work for it and they always seem to stomp on the pan doing so.

The best trapper is back!
Something I’ve had good success with cage traps is to cover the inside bottom of the cage with leaves so they can’t feel the cage on their feet. Also covering the cage outside will make it more natural looking
We trap racoons with live cage traps and use a slice of bread with peanut butter and jelly on them works all the time.

Try picking up the body grip about 3 to 4 inches off the ground it will help allot . And also build a cubby set for them best of luck

KG, In My Honest Opinion, Use Corn As Your Bait. Just Put A Trail Of It Into The Cage Trap And They’ll Go Right Into It. You Might Also Trap A Squirrel

You can make a connibear so it’s baited. Make a simple box about 3 feet deep. The height and width of the trap weather it’s a 110 220 or 330. Make slots on the side for the springs and put it in the front side bait in the back. It’s super easy and will increase your odds. I do that for raccoons and occasionally mink.
I like to use the lightweight square plant containers. Many nurseries will have watermelon boxes full of them for free at the end of their season.

Try using tent stakes to stabilize the cage. The lighter cage traps move a little when an animal steps in it and it spooks the critter out of the cage.
Stabilize the cage and line the floor with pine needles.
